O Poro é uma dupla de artistas composta por Brígida Campbell e Marcelo Terça-Nada! que desenvolve intervenções urbanas e ações efêmeras no Brasil e exterior. Opera nos sistemas de comunicação, circulação e trocas simbólicas realizados nas cidades. Atuando tanto no espaço institucional quanto no espaço não institucional, reconhece o espaço público como lugar de convívio e campo ampliado para a articulação de proposições artísticas. O livro relaciona a produção do Poro a uma discussão sobre ações artísticas que promovem a percepção sobre o espaço público, cidade, patrimônio, memória, trabalho colaborativo, inserções artísticas e relações entre arte e política. O livro traz textos de autores de diferentes áreas como arquitetura, urbanismo, poesia, comunicação, história social, ativismo, artes visuais. Os textos do livro foram escritos por: Poro, Daniela Labra, André Mesquita, Newton Goto, André Brasil, Wellington Cançado & Renata Marquez, Anderson Almeida, Luiz Carlos Garrocho & Daniel Toledo, Ricardo Aleixo.

We understand art as a way of creating relations to the world through
signals, gestures and/or objects. Understanding this, we cast our gaze
towards the urban territory where, since 2002, we develop our projects.
The city is a fertile territory for our actions. We seek to establish direct
relationships with the city and its entire communicational and symbolic
universe, broadening and stretching the meaning and understanding
over art and building situations that go beyond the daily usage of public
space.
In the sight of recurrent initiatives of remodeling the cities with private
purposes, merely entrepreneurial, and of transforming the public space into
a space of consumption and citizens in mere consumers, we ask: why not to
occupy the spaces with questioning interferences? Why not to build cities
where life has more quality and is more instigating and creative?
We want to nurture spaces of enchantment, suspension and deviation; to
make the subtle and ephemeral appear in drops in an accelerated city, which
is continuously taken to an arid verticalization, concrete and asphalt, in the
form of duplicated lanes without trees – we are certain that the city does not
need to be like that.
As artists, we search to share with others our way to see and interact with
the world. Our works are fragments of several realities that we perceive or
create. They form the bridge that intends to elucidate issues and touch at
spots of conflict that exist in many spheres. They speak about color, surfaces,
memory, food, nature, time, ways of seeing, etc, in the political, ethical and
poetical fields.
We are interested in thinking about the relationships and possible
overflows between urban interventions and art institutions. However, we
circulate our work through other means alternative to the institutions.
The networks and independent circuits give consent to a fluid circulation
of works. Internet, with its rizomatic and democratic characteristic,
allows for an open dissemination of actions and sharing of what we
produce and propose.
