SUMMARY
On the area of 49 km² in 17 settlements 5744 inhabitants live. Under the name “Aquae
Vivae” Krapinske Toplice, as a spa, was known in the Roman times. The intensive construction
of the place started in the 19th century, when all warm mineral springs were capped and collected
to make pools and to open the known thermal spa. Jakob Badel initiated the construction and
the opening of the Spa. His mausoleum is situated on the hill Marija Magdalena, above the
place. Krapinske Toplice is on 160 m altitude and has a mild continental climate. Owing to
very mild climate, and to the 40-50ºC temperature of its thermal water, Krapinske Toplice has
become the destination of health tourism, with special recreation hospital. In 1996 the hospital
for cardiovascular surgery “Magdalena” was opened, in which the first open-heart operation
was performed in 1998.
ZUSAMMENFASUNG
Auf einer Fläche von 49 km 2 leben 5744 Einwohner in 17 Siedlungen. Krapinske Toplice
sind noch bekannt aus der römischen Zeit, unter dem Namen »Aquae vivae«. Eine intensive
Entwicklung der Siedlung beginnt in 19. Jahrhundert, als die Heilquellen gekauft wurden, und
das represantive Heilbad eröffnet wurde. Die Initiative kam von Jakob Badel, desen Masusolei
sich am Berg Marija Magdalena befindet, oberhalb des Ortes. Die Siedlung befindet sich auf
160 m über der Meereshöhe, und hat ein mässiges Kontinentalklima.
Wegen des milden Klimas und der Quelle (40-50°C) ist der Bade-und Heiltourismus
die Basis die Gemeindeentwicklung. Hir befindet sich eine Spezial-Re–Ha-Klinik. Im Jahre
1996. wurde ein Spezialkrankenhaus für die Kardio-vaskulare Chirurgie und Kardiologie
»Magdalena« gegründet, wo am 12. 1. 1998. die erste Eingriff auf einem offenem Herz
durchgeführt wurde.
