John Mutuiri: My names are John Mutuiri, I’m here on behld of the staff of Gachiongo Secondary School and these are the<br />
views, these are the proposals, I will go through them.<br />

John Mutuiri: 1. We said that there should be maternity leave for both men and women. Six months for women and three<br />
months for men.<br />
2. We also said, that there ought to be provision for automatic study leave with pay.<br />
3. It is our feeling that there should be a maximum of 10 years service for the President. Each term should be 5 years.<br />
4. The minimum academic qualifications for councilors should be c- or equivalent.<br />
5. There should be a higher punitive penalties for electral offences<br />
6. The constitution should be pro East African community<br />
7. Capital punishment should be abolished and be replaced life imprisonment without per roll.<br />
8. There should be economic federalism, resources should first and foremost benefit the local community.<br />
9. The chiefs office should be electable, they should serve for a 7 years period. The post of assistant chief should be<br />
scrapped. The chief should be assisted by a headman.<br />
10. The mayor and the chairman of the county council should be elected through universal suffrage.<br />
11. Serving doctors should not be allowed to operate private clinics or chemists,<br />
12. Teachers should be allowed to contest political seats while in office. If they win, they should resign but should they lose,<br />
they should be allowed to reclaim their jobs.<br />
13. The people in managerial positions should not serve for more than 5 years in one station.<br />
14. There should be free education for all children up to O’ levels i.e primary as well as secondary school education ought<br />
to be free.<br />
15. There should be free medical services for children aged zero to 5 years and senior citizens above 60 years old.<br />
16. Kenyans should be practically deemed innocent until proved guilty. Anybody contravening this should be punishable by<br />
the law.<br />
17. Its our feeling that idle land, of over 300 acres should be taxed at 30% of the total land value.<br />
18. There should be no cases of absent landlords, we have an example in the Coast, of absent landlords who continue to<br />
get money from the farmers there.<br />
19. Every land should have a title deed.<br />
20. The cabinet should always be appointed by the parliament.<br />
21. The same should apply for the speaker of the national assembly.<br />
22. School sponsors shoud desist from interfering with the day to day running of schools.
