Estudios Geotecnicos para Plataformas Continentales de Pozos Petroleros, 1994

El diseno de plataformas de pozoz petroleros requiere de la realizacion de estudios geotecnicos detallados, complementados con las recomendaciones derivadas de los estudios de impacto ambiental y las necesidades de distribucion de las obras del pozo. Estos estudios estan encaminados a garantizar la operacion de los pozos de exploracion y a impedir desastres ecologicos y ambientales. Los anteriores aspectos son tratados en este articulo. Oil well exploration platforms and access roads generally include land movement with the purpose of adequating areas to install equipment and build complementary geotechnical works. The areas where wells are to be located usually present varied topography, from flat to sloped, involving potentially high erosive materials susceptible of being unstable under high rainfall regimes such as Colombian’s conditions; the above aspects among others, generate difficult and special geotechnical situations which must be studied and solved. On the other hand, operating equipment layouts obey to an electrical-mechanical system inflexible in most cases, and non modifiable. Therefore, oil well platform designing requires the conduction of detailed geotechnical studies complemented by recommendations derived from environmental impact studies and well layout requirements. These studies are oriented to guarantee well operation and prevent environmental disasters. The generally mentioned topics are discussed in this article, including previous planning and interdisciplinary work program, field reconnaissance plan, preliminary studies, reconnaissance studies, field investigation, geotechnical recommendations on work layout, and geotechnical studies.
