SPREADING THE CSR SPIRITSharing profitswith the communityAs the first and leading rope manufacturer in Vietnam, Asia Dragon Cord & Twinehas conducted various corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities as part of itsown business strategy to create real benefits for the community. The company’s socialprograms primarily focus on education besides poverty alleviation to support forthose disadvantaged people, including those recently affected by natural disasters,said the company’s top leader.Since the company was established in 2006, we have joined handswith various clubs and associations such as the 2030 Business Clubof the Saigon Times Club to build bridges and roads and donatebooks to libraries nationwide. I am very happy to do good and sharedifficulties with underprivileged people,” says Nguyen Thi Viet Hoa, founder andchairwoman of Asia Dragon Cord & Twine.One of the firm’s community activities this year is helping relieve the pain and lossestriggered by the recent floods and storms in the central region of Vietnam. Asia Dragonis planning to provide post-natural disaster support for affected residents.Asia Dragon will also extend its support to the families of fishermen who wentmissing due to the recent powerful typhoons, and some poor households in fishingvillages in central Vietnam, and award scholarships to their children until they finishtheir high-school.With an aim to improve the teaching and learning environment, the firm is set todonate many sets of computers to some schools struck by severe floods.Asia Dragon has also launched a social program called “Accompanying poorstudents in the Mekong Delta,” aimedat awarding scholarships to secondaryschoolstudents.Chairwoman Viet Hoa observesthat while primary students receive thesupport from the Government throughthe illiteracy eradication policy andcan attend school with little difficulty,problems often emerge when they entersecondary school. Many of them dropout of school as they have to help theirparents to take care of their youngersiblings, or have to work to earn a livingdue to poverty, says Viet Hoa. Therefore,the program to accompany poor studentsis expected to help children pursue theirstudies for a better future.“Knowledge will help people findthe right way,” says the leader of AsiaDragon.Asia Dragon Cord & Twine, havingbeen in operation for over 15 years, hasprimarily targeted overseas marketbefore returning to the home front in2018.
