Depth of field in the digital photography in comparison to classic
chemical photography (J. Ponec) .....................................282
Depth of field is one of the most important aspects of photography.
Digital cameras bring a whole new set of challenges when it comes
to depth of field (depth of focus). A definition of depth of focus
based on the angular resolution of a human eye and a relation for
a hyperfocal distance computation are presented. The choice of
permitted image unsharpness on the storage medium seems crucial.
The solution in case of classic photography is known for a long
time. In case of digital photography the problem is more complex
because of the smaller size of the storage medium and its structure.
A computation of permitted unsharpness on photoelectric sensor
based on classic photography and a comparison with image cell
size are presented. A critical f-number is set in order the defocusing
caused by aperture diffraction of the objective does not appear. That
is a difficult question, whether to proceed from the differentiability
of individual image elements – pixels, or the criterion applicable in
classic photography. Image formation using a data interpolation in
each image cell of the photosensor makes this situation even much
more complicated.
Microchannel Plates – MCP (T. Medřík) ..............................291
Microchannel Plates are special elements determined for amplifying
electromagnetic radiation. Their function is based on the phenomenon
of secondary emission. They found the biggest application
in NVG and in special detectors. This article describes their basic
parameters and characteristics.
