Alla apertura del sipario, si vede il pastore Tirsi con la cetra fra le mani. Nel mentre canta,<br />
entrano alle sue spalle e si fermano ad ascoltare pastori e ninfe, accennando <strong>da</strong>nze.<br />

Qual rugia<strong>da</strong> o qual pianto,<br />
quai lacrime eran quelle<br />
che sparger vi<strong>di</strong> <strong>da</strong>l notturno manto<br />
e <strong>da</strong>l can<strong>di</strong>do velo de le stelle?<br />
E perché seminò la bianca luna<br />
<strong>di</strong> cristalline stille un puro nembo<br />
