fINTO LIGHT
A project that after two years of preparations never materialized was the starting point of Ahmed
Saedi’s fw’19/20 collection “De l’ombre à la lumière” or “from the darkness to the light”. The gowns
of the latest Maison Saedi collection reflect the designer’s path from depression to looking into
the future with optimism. Draped and layered light tulle gowns in white and pastel shades are
adorned with delicate embroidery.
“I decided that this collection must be myself more focusing on business. I included more conceptual
designs that I always wanted to create and used elements and techniques that I love; and it might
be one of the least times that am satisfied with the results.”
At the early age of 12, the Alexandria born designer started being interested in dress-making,
helping his mother in making outfits for herself and for his sisters. In 2011, studying studying fine arts
and taking fashion courses, Saedi launched his brand, formerly known as Plush, before using his own
name.
Next to the custom made dresses, Ahmed Saedi produces two collections every year for both
prêt-à-porter and haute couture styled by a small jewelry and accessories collection to give the
complete look.

Elisa Sednaoui is no stranger in the Arab world. Coming from
a lineage of Syrian merchants that established the Arab
World’s first luxury department store in Cairo back in … she has
made a career as an international model, film maker and
philanthropist. In one of her latest endaveours she signed
up for an endorsement collaboration with regional brand
Nemozena. PASHION’s Italy Representative Alessandra
Carta met up with Elisa Sednaoui at the presentation of
the Nemozena ss’20 collection at Milan Fashion Week last
September.
Why Nemozena?
Nemozena is a collection for active
women that offers luxury at affordable
prices. The day-wear pieces are very
interesting offering flattering cuts,
functionality, shapes and colors. It’s a
collection that supports busy women
and their real needs. Women that
travel and are on the go from morning
to evening with the same outfit that
easily transforms. It is a very dynamic
brand of high quality in natural fabrics
which is made to last. The mix of
eastern and western style reflects the
designer’s and founders origins, half
Austrian half Cypriot.

About the Elisa Sednaoui Foundation.
The Elisa Sednaoui Foundation is in partnership with the
Sawiris family of Egypt, and aims to provide quality in
education for children aged 4 years up to 16 years old.
The program is expanding quickly and we are also in the
public schools in Piedmont, Milan and Rome. We teach
conflict management, active listening, taking initiatives,
problem solving, gardening, photography and coding. We
teach how to express our opinion without the fear of being
judged. At this stage we already deal with 7.000 people
in Egypt and Italy, and we are very happy that Morocco
and Mexico also required our services.

also successfully connected local, regional, and global shoppers, through their digital presence

The packed shows and presentations included FFWD regulars and favorites such as Amato and
Arwa Al Banawi as well as new-comers Hazem Kais and Jessica K . More focus on diversity was
also felt promoting a fashion environment for people of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Take Mrs.
Keepa who sent Ameni Esseibi – the Arab world’s first plus-sized model – on the runway with
her latest collection, “Les Silhouettes.”
The much anticipated range of industry talks including Laudomia Pucci’s talk on Heritage,

through their diplomatic missions were part of the fashion
extravaganza organized by the President of theThai tourist

MEETS HERITAGE
The 3rd edition of Art d’Egypte
electrifies the world.
In its third annual edition Art d’Egypte took to El Moez street
in the heart of Islamic Cairo. The event titled “Re-imagined
Narratives” and organized by Nadine Abdel Ghaffar under
the auspices of the Ministry of Antiquities and the UNESCO
has rightly found its place in the international art calendar,
attracting art collectors from around the globe eager
to discover Egyptian contemporary artists. Along Cairo’s
beautiful people they flocked to the historic buildings and
palaces that displayed the works of the Egyptian artist in a
spectacularly curated set up. The following day the art loving
crowd were treated to a city walk to discover downtown
Cairo’s historic buildings to end up at the Tamar building one
of the renovated projects of Al Ismailia Group that exhibited
the works of artists presented by several local art galleries.
The fabulous 2-day event came to a fabulous end with a
cocktail hosted by H.E. The French Ambassador who further
treated us to a performance by internationally emerging
Egyptian Opera star Farah El Dibani. We can’t wait for the
4th edition and can only guess which of Egypt’s wonders will
be the backdrop for yet an unforgettable experience.

Last November PASHION organized “The Bridal Collective” event in Cairo, that for
the first time in Egypt presented the Oscar De La Renta Bridal collection. The
exclusive VIP event brought together the finest luxury brands catering to today’s
affluent brides-to-be. Set up at the grand showroom of Living In Interiors in Abu
Rawash, models, coiffed and made up by Al Sagheer Salons, showcased wedding

بعشاء راقي من باقة منتقاه من مطاعم
الفندق.‏ بعد مرور مائة و خمسون عامًا من
الضيافة الملكية،‏ سيظل قصر الجزيرة ملتقي
تاريخي للمصريين حيث يستقبلهم دائمًا
بأروع التجارب و أرقي الخدمات.‏

party at Indochine Majid Jordan took to
