302 pp. Hardbound contemporary half vellum binding, board paper a bit worn, 2 leaves in
index mended at lower edge, otherwise fantastic inlay.
The art of curing diseases by expectation contains Harvey's remarks on a case of apoplectic
fits, as well as his observations on coughs, consumptions, stone, dropsies, fevers, and small
pox. Harvey (1625-1700) was born in Holland and studied medicine at Leyden before moving
his practice to London. He was physician to Charles II and William III.

gold frame on front and back board, 5 raised false binds, gilded title on spine, front joint
cracked ca 4 cm to upper and 2 cm to lower spine, inlay and plates in very good condition
(virtually no foxing and no tears).
Contains an interesting historical account of the discovery of the lymphatic system (7 pp).
