The Carbon ceramic
brake system saves up
to 8 kg
in weight compared to
the standard brakes, is
more powerful
and, above all,
considerably more stable
on the racetrack.
In normal use, it lasts
an entire car life because
its silicon carbide
friction coating is virtually
wear-free.
Amateurs often attribute the sportiness of a vehicle to
its engine performance. Professionals know: Although
a powerful engine is the basic requirement for sporty
driving, on the racetrack it quickly becomes apparent that
other parameters are just as decisive for a good lap time.
The key factors here are low weight, weight distribution,
road holding, aerodynamics and, last but not least, the
performance of the braking system.
The stronger and more stable the brakes, the longer the
driver can stay on the accelerator before the bends.
The M Sport brake system in red represents an upgrade
of the brake size on the front and rear axle in
comparison to the standard brakes. With six pistons
at the front and four at the rear, it significantly improves
thermal performance under extreme conditions. The
M Performance Sport brake pads are even more
uncompromising.
Another factor in driving dynamics is the suspension.
Retrofitting the BMW M Performance Sport suspension
offers outstanding possibilities for individual suspension
tuning. The lowering by the threaded suspension
between 5 and 20 millimetres results in a lower centre
of gravity, which reduces rolling movements and enables
higher cornering speeds. The shock absorbers are
adjusted separately for the rebound and compression
level, depending on the version.
The rear spoiler increases the contact pressure and
thus contributes to better road holding.
