JAN - OCT 2020
REPORT SCOPE
1. This sample report on DATA PRIVACY is a partial collection of data from a pilot campaign
that was setup as a test
2. This report and campaign is to showcase DHI’s potential of the capability and service
offering
3. Report contains a partial view of the insights and offering, a full campaign will provide
insights and analysis that are multiple layers deeper
4. The data collected from this pilot campaign is a sample data set to show the potential of
the capability.
5. Current data-set should not be taken as representative of the actual trending topics,
sentiment, emotion, associated with the Coronavirus, as it does not contain the full data set
and has not been through the necessary rigour to ensure data quality
6. For an accurate representation of the topic, an actual campaign will need to be
commissioned and analysed.
Note: Data does not include Facebook, Instagram information at this stage, but a typical
campaign will include all information from all social media channels

EMOTION ALLOCATION
• The Data Privacy topic has been broken down
in 4 specific areas: cyber security / data
monitoring / data breach / data privacy’
• Not surprisingly, ANGER is the dominant
emotion displayed by the public with respect
to data monitoring and data breach
• Conversely, JOY is dominant for both cyber
security as well as data privacy (although data
privacy display almost an equal split with the
ANGER emotion)

INSIGHTS
• JOY emotion, in terms of cyber security, is
triggered by simple and easy to follow policies
that the public can immediately understand and
relate to
• JOY emotion, in terms of data privacy, is again
triggered by clear data policy along with the
display of exemplary, and publicly communicated,
fines for those who breach it
• ANGER emotion, in terms of data monitoring, is
actually not related to the activity of data
monitoring per se but to an online movement
called #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria
• ANGER emotion, in terms of data breach, is not
guided by a dominant theme but a combination
of multiple one…some related to various
examples of data breaches occurred in the
healthcare sector as well as credit cards, but also
from a reposting of a blog called Security by
Obscurity (https://t.co/c2XXxW48PJ)

Involvement Intensity
JAN - OCT 2020
• Involvement: Among the 4 sub-topics monitored, Data monitoring is the one that is eliciting the highest emotional
intensity from the public. It is important to note that the emotional intensity displayed is not necessarily positive
and must be correlated to the Motivation Index to gain a more accurate picture of its effect.
• Data Privacy and Cyber Security involvement intensity display a less intense but more consistent trend. The
latest upward trend is mainly driven by the advancements in technology and data policy driven by the massive
shift towards smart working due to Covid 19

Motivation Index
JAN - OCT 2020
• Motivation Index: As highlighted via the Involvement Index, Data Monitoring is displaying the most negative
motivation from the public hinting a generalised adverse reaction to the topic. It has recovered in recent times and
become more neutral but an opportunity exists to drive a compelling narrative in the space (ie. Leverage data
monitoring during the pandemic to save lives).
• Conversely, cyber security motivation index, although with some fluctuation, is displaying the most positive “buy-in”
from the public among the four. It could be better capitalise with a narrative that could be jointly run with the data
monitoring topic
