atmosphere, character and style, so read
each site description to select one to suit your
family. Each is managed by a professional
team with the aim of providing a relaxing and
pleasurable holiday.
We value the cooperation and trust we get
from our campsite owners and they are
delighted to have our clients staying on their
sites. If you are planning a trip to a campsite
you have previously stayed on, you will be
most welcome and if you wish to try another
site this year, every effort will be made to
acquaint you with the day to day activities
from the first day of your holiday.
Best Campsites
Each campsite we feature in our brochure
has been specifically chosen because it
offers top quality facilities to compliment the
standard of our Mobile Homes and service.
Our policy is to only use campsites which
we consider to be the very best available
in a particular area or resort. Because this
is often a subjective judgement, we quote
the name and location of each campsite
as well as the official star rating so that you
may check for yourself their standing in the
recognised guides.
Our campsite descriptions contain up-to-date,
factual information resulting from frequent
personal visits. They are selected after
considerable research, and only when we are
satisfied that the campsite management is
capable of maintaining their standards under
pressure throughout the season.

Plan your holiday to be the way you want
it. Our dedicated team of reservations staff
are here to help you by suggesting the most
convenient travel routes. Whether you just
want to go straight to your holiday resort or

or both journeys (eg the Mont St Michel,
Paris or Disneyland) our reservations staff
will be pleased to help you put the package
together to give you the holiday you want.

When To Go
July and August are always popular and like
all top class campsites, ours will be busy then
(but not overcrowded). Many people prefer
May or June, the traditionally sunny months
with long evenings, and September because
nearby shops, restaurants and beaches are
less crowded and our low season rates are so
attractive. Day to day management of a site is
arranged by the campsite owners and outside
our direct control. We print on each campsite
page the dates that site is planning to open
to the public and also when they expect the
campsite shops, bars, restaurant, cooked
meals service, etc. to be open and available.
Traditionally, most of the French campsites
operate some of their ancillary services
according to demand. They may consider that
there is insufficient demand for a particular
ancillary service such as the shop, cooked
meals service or bar very early or later on
in the season and the service may operate
only during a restricted period of the day, or
sometimes not at all if demand is very low.
On campsites with both indoor and outdoor
swimming pools, it will usually be the indoor
pool which opens first and closes last during
the season. Outdoor swimming pools are
available for a shorter period of the season,
subject to the weather conditions and the
number of people staying on a campsite.
At least one pool will normally operate from
mid May through to early September, unless
the site opening/closing dates offer a shorter
period.
Our greatly reduced low season prices
reflect these possibilities. If it is important
to you that the campsite bar, shop, cooked
meals service, swimming pool, onsite
entertainment, or similar should be open and
available throughout your holiday, please
book during the peak period. This is normally
from early July to late August.

Reservations Staff
Call one of our friendly reservations team

it to be. Our staff travel to France regularly
and have visited most of our campsites, so
we can give you advice based on personal
experience.
Whilst talking through your holiday plans,
our reservations staff will be able to check
availability on your chosen channel crossings
so that you will pay the deposit for your
holiday knowing that your chosen crossings
are available.

On Site Staff
We’re dedicated to giving you individual
attention and better service - from the first
enquiry, all the way through to your actual
holiday.
On arrival in France you will be greeted by
English speaking staff - either our own, or the
site’s own staff where we are offering holiday
homes owned by the site itself. Either way
the on-site staff are there to show you into
your Mobile Home, ensure you’re familiar
with everything and provide information
about local events and attractions.
During your stay they are available for advice
and plenty of information about the campsite
and visits within the surrounding area.
Our Supervisors
Our resort staff are managed by our area
managers who are key members of our
team, each responsible for a small group
of campsites. They’re experienced and fully
trained in maintenance of both the electrical
and mechanical services in our Mobile
Homes, ensuring that day to day service
requirements can always be attended to
quickly and efficiently.
Barbecues
Not all campsites allow charcoal barbecues
and during a dry summer the use of these
may be forbidden for fire safety reasons.
Matthews Holidays provide either charcoal
or gas barbecues (as appropriate) for hire
on each campsite, which can be arranged
directly with our own courier.
On-Site Activities
The children’s clubs and entertainment
operated by the campsites will usually be
conducted in French, however organisers
are mindful that participants are of mixed
nationalities.
Smoking
This is not permitted inside our Mobile
Homes, nor in any buildings and/or public
areas of the campsites we use.

choosing a campsite
Our campsites have been chosen
for their location, facilities and their
atmosphere. On each of our site pages
we have provided as much factual
information as possible so that you can
select a campsite that will be suitable for
you and your family.
Once you have chosen which part
of France you want to visit, we are
confident that you will be able to find
a campsite that will be a good holiday
base.
Waterparks
Waterparks on sites can be amazing.
It would be difficult to think of an hotel
that would be able to offer your children
waterslides and themed swimming pool
complexes such as you can find on a
French site, and if you were to stay in a
villa the chances are that any swimming
pool would be very basic by comparison.
Evening Entertainment
Each site has a bar where you can
meet up in the evenings with other
holidaymakers. In addition, throughout
July and August this is usually an area
where evening entertainment is held.
This can range from family discos, to
an evening with a magician, live music,
karaoke, etc., but always aimed at giving
enjoyment to families because in July &
August it is mainly families that are on
the campsites.
Children’s Activities
During the main school holiday period
– which for the French is between
July and August – campsites provide
activities for children. These ‘clubs’ offer

a wide range of interesting projects and
competitions appropriate to the age of
the child attending.
The Camping Atlantique at Beg Meil
offers a wide range of activities from
football to archery, water polo, etc., as
well as water sports that adults can join
in with as well.
Cooked Meals Service
All of our campsites provide this service.
Two or three ‘Plats du Jour’ (daily
specials) will be prepared so that if you
don’t want to cook, you can buy dishes
to take back to your Mobile Home. You
can buy just a bowl of chips (very handy
if you are having a salad and want
something hot with it) or you can buy a
fish or meat dish plus vegetables. It is a
very useful service and makes providing
an evening meal very easy.
Terrain
Our Lacanau Ocean site has terraced
emplacement areas where our Holiday
Homes are sited due to sloping ground.
Please bear this in mind when choosing
your campsite if a member of your party
has restricted mobility.
Distances
We always quote the distance (in yards)
to the beach etc. from the nearest site
gate.
To bring with you
Sheets, (duvet covers for Lodge &
Magnum grades) pillowslips and towels
are not provided in the Mobile Home, so
remember to include these when packing.

These are usually very good value and
will save you the need to go off resort
to a shop

Why do so many families choose
France for their holiday? It’s a wonderful
country that is close and easy to reach,
yet so very different.
Many regular visitors go there to revel
in the French way of life, where quality
is of the utmost importance and where
spending time in the countryside relaxing
is a ‘must’ to re-charge their batteries,
chill out and take in the atmosphere.
In the local village markets you will
see shoppers carefully selecting their
vegetables and fruit, the quality of food
reigns supreme and so does the more
relaxed life style.
Which part of France to visit for your
holiday can be a difficult choice. Most
first time visitors go to Brittany or the
Vendee as both areas are within a
reasonable day’s drive from the French
ferry ports. Before each campsite
page there is an area summary which
highlights the attractions and activities
to be found - places of interest, regional
food and drink specialities, etc. This
should make your choice easier.
Shopping
One of the easiest places to shop if you
don’t speak very much French will be in
one of the huge hypermarkets or even
a local supermarket. However, a not to
be missed pleasure is always a visit to a
local market. You can be confident that
the fruit, vegetables, fish, breads and
cheeses will be the freshest possible
and will usually have been produced by
the seller. Stall holders are very friendly
and will be delighted to help you – some
will speak enough English to help you
with your choice. Not to be forgotten is
the campsite shop which will stock all
the items that families staying there are
likely to need - bread, croissants and

milk in the mornings, as well as enough
ingredients to make self catering easy.
Eating Out
Every town and village has a selection
of restaurants and what better way of
getting to know the regional specialities
than to dine out at one of them. Most
restaurants offer a range of set menus
offering great value and a variety of
food to choose from. A busy restaurant
is usually a good sign and worth a visit.
You will normally be offered a menu in
French and English so that if you don’t
speak French it will be easy for you to
follow and make your choice. In France
children are made welcome.
The Language
French of course! No-one expects a
tourist, especially one visiting for the
first time to speak the local language,
but if you make the effort before you
go to learn how to say just one or two
words such as ‘hello’, and ‘thank you’
the locals - as in any other country -
will appreciate the gesture and will be
friendly in return.
Motoring in France
Traffic is far less dense than on UK
roads. In fact many times when we talk
to a holiday maker who has just returned
from a first visit to France they will say
‘there is so little on the roads’.
When you are driving from or returning
to the ferry port, you will want to take
the most direct route, but do take
time during your holiday to explore
the region. Driving through France’s
beautiful countryside is a pleasure, and
the finest way of getting to know the
area of France that you have chosen to
visit.
With your ticketing details, we will also
give you the latest information on items
to pack in your car, and general advice
such as ‘driving on the right’, speed
limits, etc. as well as information on
preparing your car before you go. Our

the focus
The Focus
The Focus Mobile Home is the first in our
range and has continually proved to be a
huge success with both new and returning
clients.
The standard Focus has a double bedroom,
a second bedroom with twin beds, and
shower/toilet facilities. A camping cot can
be provided by our couriers for use in the
twin bedroom in place of one of the twin
beds.
The kitchen area has a full oven, with grill
and four burner hob, along with a family
size refrigerator and plenty of storage for
utensils and food. There is a comfortable
lounge/dining area with a foldaway table,
and the lounge seating will convert into
one full size single bed and one smaller
single bed at night. There is a gas fire in
the living area.

The Focus Duo
For couples who prefer to take their
holiday during the quieter part of the
season we have designed the Focus
Duo, providing you with more living
space than the standard Focus Mobile
Home.
It has the same lounge and kitchen
area as the standard Focus, but with
the addition of a separate dining room
in place of a twin bedroom. This gives
the space to lay the table in advance
of meal times.

Approx. 26ft in length & 10ft wide. NB: The Focus Duo layout is similar, except the
twin beds are removed to convert the space into a dining room.

the lodge
The Lodge
Our mid range model, the Lodge
grade Mobile Home, provides 20%
m o r e f l o o r a r e a t h a n t h e F o c u s
Mobile Home and is ideal for families
or couples who are looking for a little
more space and comfort.
The living area includes a lounge
with a dining table and fitted kitchen
complete with a microwave. The
sofa seat in the lounge area can
be used as a single bed and like all
our Mobile Homes, the Lodge grade
has a gas fire in the lounge for extra
warmth for clients staying out of the
main holiday season.
The bedrooms, the shower room
and separate toilet with its own
washbasin are similar in style and
c o m f o r t t o t h e M a g n u m M o b i l e

Home. The double bedroom has
fitted cupboards and wardrobes too,
providing plenty of storage space
for everyone. The twin room has a
full length drop down bunk, which is
ideal for a larger family with three
children. A cotside can be used in
the twin bedroom.
The layout of this Mobile Home is
very popular with families who have
three young children who would
all enjoy sharing a bedroom when
on holiday. It is also popular with
couples who want a larger master
bedroom as well as the extra space
in the living area which this grade
of Mobile Home can provide.
The whole of the open plan living
area has a light and spacious feel
to it.

the magnum
The Magnum
If you’re looking for a bit more space for
you and your family, then the obvious
choice will be one of our Magnum Mobile
Homes. It is over 40% larger than the
standard Focus model and specifically
designed to offer additional comfort and
living space.
The light and spacious lounge area has
been carefully designed to give a larger
area for relaxation. It features a large
pine dining table along with contemporary
chairs to finish off the stylish living area.
The sofa seats in the lounge area can be
converted into two separate single beds.
There is also a fitted gas fire for use if
the evenings are slightly cooler out of the
main holiday season.
Preparing meals is always a pleasure in
the open plan fitted kitchen, with plenty

of cupboard space and work surfaces.
It also has the benefit of a microwave
oven, as well as a full cooker with an
oven and grill.
The master bedroom has fitted wardrobes
along with a dressing table unit and ensuite
shower room (this also has a door
into the hall). The toilet is separate from
the shower room.
The second bedroom features wider twin
beds than in our standard grade of Mobile
Home, and a full length drop down bunk
for a third child. A cot side can be fitted
to one of the twin beds.
Our Magnums are designed to give
families with older children more living
space and they have also become a firm
favourite with couples travelling in June
who enjoy the spacious and comfortable
accommodation.

Brittany is a land of tradition, blessed with a favourable climate and, being so
easy to reach from Britain, makes an ideal holiday area. The coastline offers
countless sandy beaches, rock pools and breathtaking views.
Spring is mild and the countryside is possibly at its most beautiful - ablaze with
the golden hue of gorse, the hedgerows full of an abundance of wild flowers
and alive to the song of birds. Nature lovers enjoy the peace of long, spring
days and little country roads, that even today see few cars.
During July and August the atmosphere changes, as resorts welcome the
many tourists to the area, with beaches and restaurants brimming full of life.

Things to do in Brittany
There are some wonderful medieval towns and villages to visit, such as Dinan,
Locrononan, Quimper, the walled city of Concarneau, Vannes, the old port at
Auray (St Goustan) and Rochefort-en-Terre to name just a few. Wander round
their cobbled streets, see their ancient buildings and fortifications.
Food
Take advantage of the abundance of shellfish and seafood of this region. Many
restaurants specialise in “Fruits de la Mer” - large platters are served piled high
with shrimps, langoustine, crayfish, crabs, mussels and oysters.
A contrasting gourmet delight can be found in the “Creperies”, which are small
family restaurants, often in delightful thatched cottages offering an entire menu
of savoury or sweet pancakes. They are reasonably priced and appealing to
children and adults alike.
Getting to Brittany
Brittany is easily accessible by car or plane and the short travelling time from
the south coast of England makes it a popular destination for families. Why
not take a longer sea crossing to St Malo or Roscoff to reduce the driving time
to our campsites once you’re in France?
Most sites are within an easy drive of an airport too, so it’s worth considering
a flight to somewhere like Rennes or Quimper, especially in low season when
the fares are cheaper.

‘Fun Park’ set in 42 acres of
terraced floral landscaped
avenues with amazing views
across unspoilt countryside. A
short distance from the site are
the long beaches of the Bay of
Audierne – great for walking,
rockpool fishing or relaxing –
pause at a beachside bar and
drink in the view.
The site is located between
Pointe du Raz and Quimper,
less than 6 miles from the
beaches and a short drive
of some beautiful towns and
villages. The residential area
has a relaxing swimming pool,
a covered area and plenty of
space for sunbathing to top up
your tan!
During July and August there
is a programme of activities
for all the family, theme nights,
football tournaments, tennis,
ping-pong, boule competitions
and aerobics.
Away from the Residential area,
follow the path that will take you
to the amazing Fun Park for
children and entrance is FREE
for our clients. Water slides,
toboggan run, trampoline,
bouncy castle, climbing and
tumbling challenges, and a large
lake for pedalo fun or fishing. A
truly tranquil setting surrounds
the lake – hydrangeas, graceful
willows and a wealth of floral
shrubs native to the area. Jump
on Bel Air Land’s own little train
and explore the park – children
love it.
This site is terraced, hence the
stunning views, but may not be
suitable for people with mobility
difficulties.

Benodet Camping Pointe St Gilles*****
The seaside town of Benodet is
located on a picturesque south
facing bay and this campsite
is recognised as one of the
best in Finistere, with a great
swimming pool complex and
waterslides, both inside and
outside.
The beach is opposite the
campsite. The village has
plenty of restaurants, bars and
shops just an easy stroll away
as well as another glorious
beach on the bay. Simply ask
at the campsite office for further
information.
The high standard of facilities
on the campsite brings many
clients back again and again.
It’s lively, with plenty of evening
entertainment for families
during July and August held
in the bar area. There’s also
a sports and games area to
the rear of the campsite with
tennis courts, a sports course
with different exercises to try, a
football field and games area.
An excellent choice for families
with children of all ages.
Spa Centre: This is a new
complex that was built in 2010
which has an indoor pool,
hamman, facial treatments and
specialist massages. A great
place for a ‘pamper day’.

Cross the River Loire, head south and you’ll quickly sense a change of scenery.
You’ll discover a much flatter countryside with long sweeps of beautiful sandy
beach edged with dunes and pine woods, and a very mild climate. This, then is
the Vendee, boasting sunshine averages only marginally less than the Riviera.
One of the most fascinating areas of this region is La Venise Verte - a maze of
dykes and canals used instead of roads to transport produce and locals from
one area to another by punt. Today, tourists come to see for themselves this
hidden waterway and can either hire a boat or hire a guide for an hour or so,
to hear some of the history of this unique area.

Things to do in the Vendee
Venise Verte, Apremont, Ile de Re, Noirmoutier and the Loire Chateaux.
A great day out is a visit to the Puy de Fou. There’s shows throughout the day,
falconry, a gladiator display in the Roman Amphitheatre, a Viking raid with laser
displays, and more. Once night falls, there is an outstanding son et lumiere on
most Friday and Saturday evenings from mid-June until the end of September.
Food
There is a wide range of excellent traditional French cooking at very reasonable
prices throughout the Vendee. Muscadet and Gros Plant wines are produced
near the Loire, and the range of Bordeaux wines are produced further south.
Highlights
Some Loire Chateaux can easily be visited from our sites in the Vendee, and
throughout this region wine can be tasted and bought from local producers. A
day’s outing to Futuroscope at Poitiers is also popular with families.

Getting to the Vendee
The Vendee is ideally located for many ferry ports and airports. By ferry to
Caen is always popular, or there is the Fastcraft to Cherbourg. If you wish to
fly, Nantes is very close to most of our campsites, but there are other airports
within easy reach as well. Hiring a car from the airport couldn’t be easier, so
remember to organise this before you leave.

The large, modern swimming
pool complex is the focal
point of the campsite. There

In July and August the campsite
has an animateur to organise
various activities which are run
during the day and evening.
A great campsite for relaxing,
knowing that there are plenty of
activities for the children.
Long stretches of glorious, sandy
beach are within easy walking
distance of the campsite. The
sea front bars and cafes along
the promenade of St Jean de
Monts are only a short drive
away. A great place to spend
an evening with a wide choice
of restaurants. We had no idea
how many ways there were to
cook mussels until we went to
the specialist mussel restaurant
by the beach!
Bike hire is organised on the
campsite and there are many
cycle paths close by. From there
you can cycle along the coast,
meander inland, or venture off
into the pine forests.

Travelling further south from the channel ports, most families will have an
en-route hotel stop unless flying. As a result, this area is still relatively
‘undiscovered’.
This coastline offers a fantastic choice of superb beaches, from the
majestic grande cote with its long stretch of sand backed by the pine
forests giving welcome shade to the protected bays and coves.
Surfing is the main water sport throughout the region, particularly in the
Lacanau area but also cycling too, with a massive network of cycling
tracks to explore.

Things to do in the South
There are large sweeps of pine forests throughout this region. You will also
be close enough to take a trip inland into the Dordogne to see some of the
ancient villages perched high in the hills amidst staggering scenery. Surfing
is a very popular sport around this area, and there are an abundance of great
beaches to visit where you can pratice or simply watch the experts in action!
Food
There’s a wide range of traditional French cooking throughout this beautiful
region. Bordeaux is the prime wine of the Lacanau region. Regional dishes in
the South West have a Spanish/Catalan influence. The paellas and cassoulets
are delicious.
Highlights
Pineau and Cognac are produced in the southern area in Charente, and both
Hennessey and Martell organise tours round their distilleries at Cognac. A visit
to the city of Bordeaux is a ‘must’. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The ‘Ville’ of Lacanau Ocean
abounds with restaurants,
bistros, brasseries, bars and
cafes. Yes, there is certainly
plenty of surf, but there is also an
area reserved only for swimming,
which is surveilled. Locally known
as ‘Surf City’, Lacanau Ocean
always attracts a large number of
enthusiastic surfers - experts and
learners. Many young surfers
stay on the campsite during July
and August bringing a lively,
French, sporting atmosphere.
And there are the lakes - superb
stretches of water edged by pine
forests interspersed with sandy
beaches, perfect for windsurfing
and sailing.

Book your holiday through an ABTA bonded
Travel Agency or by calling our reservations
staff direct. When booking by telephone,
always have ready the name of the resort you
want, the grade of Mobile Home and holiday
dates you require. You will also need to decide
on ferry crossings and sailing times. Our sales
team can help you choose the most suitable
sailings available. We are always happy to
advise on holiday availability, costings and
ferries. Calls may be monitored for training
purposes.
Our holiday availability is constantly changing,
so we always advise you to make a telephone
reservation first.
Correspondence
All communication from us will be sent by
email. It is the clients responsibility to check
carefully the details confirmed to them and
inform us immediately if corrections need
to be made. If you do not wish to receive
documentation by this method, there will be a
charge of £15 added to the cost of your holiday
to send it by post.
Pricing an Inclusive Holiday
The price table on page 29 gives the basic cost
of your holiday. This includes the Mobile Home
rental for the stated period, site fees, tourist
tax (where included), UK/French V.A.T.,
parking, gas and electricity two adults. Extra
adults are added on at the rate shown on the
price table, which is a ‘one off’ price for any
duration. Three children under 18 travel free.
All seasonal variations have already been
made - simply read the price according to the
date you wish to commence your holiday at
the resort and the duration of your stay. Extra
nights are added at the appropriate rate on
which they actually fall.
If you require a higher grade of Home simply
add the appropriate supplement for the
correct model, at the appropriate rate for each
night. The per night accommodation upgrade
supplements are listed on each tariff table for
each grade of Mobile Home.
Add any additional ferry route supplements
for each sailing from the table on page 32.
Then add any cabin / seat costs for all party
members (including any free children).
As an example, we have costed a holiday for 2
adults and 3 children travelling to our campsite
at Les Genets on 13th July, using a Brittany
Ferries ship from Portsmouth to Caen staying
in a Lodge Mobile Home for 9 nights, returning
from Cherbourg to Portsmouth by Fastcraft on
22nd July. The cost will be £1706.00 including
the damage waiver. This is printed in the
costing box above.

Outdoor Furniture
Each of our Matthews own Mobile Homes
come fully equipped with outdoor furniture (a
sun umbrella, table, chairs, two sunloungers
and a rotary clothes dryer).
Equipment
We provide a comprehensive inventory in
each of our Mobile Homes. This includes
blankets, (duvets in Lodge & Magnum) pillows,
cooking utensils, teapot, crockery and cutlery.
It’s all there, right down to coat hangers in a
proper wardrobe.
Please be aware that we do not provide bed
sheets, duvet covers, pillowslips or towels in
any grade of Mobile Home.

Cotsides or Cots
Cotsides are available in the Lodge and
Magnum Mobile Homes. The Focus can
accommodate a camping cot in the twin
bedroom. When a cotside or a camping cot
is in use there will be one less bed in that
bedroom.
We do not recommend the use of our cotsides
or cots for children more than 12-15 months
old.

We provide highchairs which must be ordered
in advance of your holiday and cost £1.50 per
night. Make sure you order one with a member
of our staff when making a booking.

There are several airlines that fly to many
airports in France. It’s quick and easy to
book online direct.
You’ll need to hire a car at your destination
airport. Please ensure your flight allows
you enough time to collect your hire
car and to arrive at the site before the
gates close (normally by 10.30pm in high
season). We have lots of links to airlines,

We offer a wide choice of ferry routes to France as well as Eurotunnel. The route best
suited to you will depend on your starting point in the UK and your destination resort.
Ferry Routes
Dover routes offer the shortest crossing time and sailings around the clock. These are
very convenient if you live on the East side of the UK or want the minimum crossing time.
Alternatively, if you live on the West side of the UK, you’ll find the longer sea crossings
from Portsmouth, Poole or Plymouth will save you up to 200 miles. Generally the road
network in France is less crowded than the UK.
P&O Ferries
Taking only 90 minutes, P&O’s Dover
to Calais route is a quick and enjoyable
way to hit the continent. With up to 25
crossings each way per day, around
the clock, you can come and go at your
leisure.
If you’re travelling from the North of
England, then why not take the Hull to
Zeebrugge crossing to Belgium - the easy,
stress-free way to arrive on the continent
and start your holiday.
Brittany Ferries
The Classic Cruise and High Speed
services from Poole, Portsmouth, and
Plymouth will take you much closer to the
best regions of France, saving you miles
of driving.
They have a fleet of superb ferries and
state of the art high speed craft.
On many of their conventional ferries, they
offer a choice of delicious food, served
in either their self service cafeteria or
alternatively in their chic main restaurant.
A different way to France?
Taking your car to the continent offers you complete independence. Folkestone to Calais
with Eurotunnel is the fastest cross-channel route so you arrive on the continent in only 35
minutes. On leaving the shuttle you can exit directly onto the French motorway network.
Crossings are frequent - up to three departures per hour during peak times.
Supplements: Only £78 per crossing throughout low season. £78 extra per crossing
midweek high season and £97 extra per crossing weekend high season.

choosing ferry crossings
It is possible to choose any of the ferry sailing
routes listed for your holiday, provided the
outward and return sailings are operated by
the same ferry company.
Read the basic price of your holiday from
the price table according to arrival date
on the campsite, then add the ferry route
supplement for each sailing you have chosen
from the adjacent tables.
Please note:
1) The cost of an extra vehicle (all channel
routes) is £100 plus any appropriate ferry
route supplements.
2) All Operators may levy an amendment fee
for any changes made at the port, which is
payable direct at the terminal.
3) Eurotunnel. Clients must travel on the
service for which they have pre-booked or
an amendment fee may be charged.
Vehicles powered or dual powered by LPG
cannot be carried by Eurotunnel.
4) Minimiser sailings are great value but you’ll
probably need a hotel stop for most sites.
5) It’s possible for residents of the Republic
of Ireland to book our Mobile Homes
however, due to local legislation all clients
must make their own travel arrangements.
6) Brittany Ferries apply a supplement to
cars over 1.83m high, for vehicles over 5m in
length and vehicles with a rear cycle carrier.
Eurotunnel has a height restriction of 1.83m.
Higher cars are charged as minibuses with
the exception of certain people carriers. On
extended sea crossings the rates will vary.

Two centre Holidays
When booking one week on one campsite
and then a further week on a different site,
it is calculated according to the seven
night package price taken from the first
site plus the appropriate nightly rate from
the second.
Our reservation staff will be happy to
calculate these holiday prices for you.
Please telephone the reservations
department if you require any help with
pricing your holiday.

Campsites do not usually have lifeguards
on duty.
Children remain the responsibility of their
parents at all times. Please supervise your
children, particularly on waterslides where
height restrictions may apply. Some
swimming pools and/or waterslides may
be closed for part of the day, even in high
season. Facilities are used at the clients
own risk.
Breakage / Damage Waiver
There is a non-refundable damage waiver
of £15 per Mobile Home to cover you
against accidental damage to the Home
and any equipment. Alternatively, you may
pay an additional damage deposit of £250
with your balance payment, which will be
refunded, less the cost of any accidental
damage or breakages after your return
from holiday. On some campsites the
damage waiver option is not available
and the damage deposit is paid on arrival.
We will advise you at time of booking.
Our resort representative will be required
to carry out a full inventory check prior to
your departure on your last day.
Swimming Trunks/Pools
Generally, campsites do not permit long
shorts in their swimming pools. Please
take swimming trunks for all males who
wish to use the pool facilities. Specifically
designed two part male swimming shorts
with minimal leg length (e.g. 5cm) are
usually acceptable. Most campsites charge
a (refundable) deposit for armbands and

There’s a 2% non refundable charge on
credit card payments. There is no charge
for payments made by debit card or
cheque.
Departure Delays
We arrange your inclusive holiday
using the scheduled services of your
chosen ferry operator (or Eurotunnel).
The transport element is subject to the
carrier’s terms and conditions, which may
be downloaded direct from their website.
You must observe the minimum reporting
time for your scheduled departure time
(usually 45 minutes) and the carrier’s staff
will deal with your check-in at the port.
Occasionally, services may be delayed
or interrupted by adverse weather
conditions and/or technical problems, etc.
If an interruption occurs which is likely
to cause you serious delay, we will try
to advise you as soon as possible, and
will do our utmost to make alternative
travel arrangements to minimise any
inconvenience. If you intend to take a
mobile phone with you, please let us
know the number and keep it switched
on during your outward as well as your
return journey.
We don’t accept liability for extra
travelling expenses and/or additional
hotel costs which might arise as a result
of an interruption to a scheduled public
transport service.
Data Protection Act
In order to process your booking and
ensure that your travel arrangements run
as smoothly as possible, we need to use
the information you provide such as your
name, address, the party members, any
special needs, etc.
We take full responsibility for ensuring
that proper security measures are in
place to protect your information. We must
pass the information on to the relevant
suppliers, such as ferry companies,
campsites, etc. This may also be provided
to public authorities such as customs/
immigration, as required by law. If we
cannot pass this information on to these
persons, it will not be possible to confirm
your booking.
We will hold all your information, where
collected by us and may use it to
inform you of future relevant offers, or
send you further brochures. If you do
not want to receive such approaches
please inform us in writing. Your Data
Controller is: Matthews Holidays. You
are entitled to a copy of your information
held by us.
Pets
Unfortunately we are unable to accept pets
in our Mobile Homes.

Conditions of Booking
Definitions: In these booking conditions the term “the
Company” and “MHL” mean MATTHEWS HOLIDAYS LTD.
and the term “client” means the party leader or any party
member named on the MHL confirmation. The contract
shall be made between MATTHEWS HOLIDAYS LTD, Co
Reg No: 2050214, whose registered office is 8 Bishopsmead
Parade, East Horsley, Surrey, and the party leader first
named on the MHL confirmation and is subject to English law.
1. A deposit of £120 per Mobile Home is required at the
time of booking. For bookings at our Benodet campsite, the
deposit will be 25% of the accommodation cost. Payment
of the final balance is due ten weeks prior to departure.
In the event of non-payment of the balance due for your
holiday by the prescribed date, we reserve the right, after
due notice, to cancel and re-let the booking. In those
circumstances the deposit will be forfeited. For bookings
made within ten weeks of departure, the full payment is due.
2. The party leader must accept personal responsibility
for the obligations of all party members and warrants that
he has their authority to make the booking. No contract
shall exist until written confirmation of acceptance of
the booking has been issued by MHL. All our Mobile
Home holidays are offered subject to availability.
3. Price Guarantee.
a) The price of your holiday is fully guaranteed and will
not be subject to any surcharge once you have made
your booking and paid your deposit, provided that you
do not subsequently amend your booking.
b) We reserve the right to change the brochure prices
at any time, but no increase will be applied to existing
bookings retrospectively.
c) The prices shown in this brochure already include
English V.A.T. and French T.V.A.
4. Cancellation by Client: Cancellation can only be
accepted in writing from the party leader, which should be
sent recorded delivery and will be acknowledged by return
of post. In the event of cancellation by the client, the deposit
shall be forfeited and MHL shall be entitled to levy cancellation
charges according to the following scale. This scale is based
on the number of days before departure:
More than 10 weeks ............................ Deposit forfeit
57-70 days ............................. 30%* full holiday costs
29-56 days .............................. 50% full holiday costs
22-28 days .............................. 70% full holiday costs
15-21 days .............................. 90% full holiday costs
Up to 14 days ........................ 100% full holiday costs
*Deposit or 30% - whichever is the higher amount. Refer to
your Personal Holiday Insurance Policy and the circumstances
under which the cancellation charges may be reclaimed under
the terms of that insurance (less any applicable excess).
5. Cancellation by Matthews Holidays. MHL will only
cancel your holiday in the event of Force Maujeure (see
below). In the event of such cancellation the Company
will make a full refund of your holiday payments.
6. Force Majeure is defined as circumstances which prevent
the performance of the contract which are totally outside
our control, and include but are not limited to war, threat
of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear
disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, industrial action
or dispute, technical problems to transport, port closure,
congestion at a port or airport, epidemic or disease.
7. Alteration. We make arrangements for your holiday
several months in advance and if there are any minor
alterations which might affect your holiday in some way, we
will inform you as soon as possible. Should a major alteration
become necessary, for reasons other than Force Majeure we
will advise you of the proposed change and ask you to decide
between three courses of action:
A. Accepting the change.
B. Transfer to an alternative holiday we’re able to offer.
C. Cancelling your holiday, with a full refund of all
monies paid to us.

Whichever course of action you choose we will pay you
compensation per party as follows:

A major alteration is defined as a change of resort, change of
accommodation to a lower grade than that originally booked, a
change of ferry route which involves more than 100 additional
miles driving to the outward or return journey, or an alteration
to a ferry sailing time by more than twelve hours.
Where a client accepts an alternative holiday as a result of
a major alteration the Company will refund the client any
difference in cost where the alternative holiday is cheaper
than that originally booked.
8. Insurance. It is a condition of acceptance of a booking that
acceptable cancellation, medical, legal expenses and third party
risks insurance is effected immediately. Please supply Insurers
name, policy number, and 24hr medical emergency number.
9. Responsibility. The Company accepts complete
responsibility for the acts and/or omissions of its employees
and also accepts responsibility for those services furnished by
its suppliers (e.g. campsites). We have taken all reasonable
steps to ensure that the holidays advertised in this brochure
have been properly and diligently arranged and we only use
reputable organisations in this country and abroad to provide
necessary services. Please supply Insurance name, policy
number and 24hr medical emergency number. Subject to
conditions a) and b) below, MHL will accept liability for such
damages as a customer would be entitled to under English
law in an English court for any personal injury to the customer,
including illness, death, caused by negligence (as understood
in English Law) either on the part of an employee of Matthews
Holidays or a supplier of a service forming part of the booked
holiday, other than air or sea transportation. Liability will be
accepted subject to:
a) The assignment by the customer to MHL of all rights
to proceed against the supplier in respect of a claim
involving a supplier.
b) The customer agreeing to cooperate fully with MHL
and/or its Insurers in the pursuit of any claim against
the supplier, if the company or its Insurers proceed
with such a claim.
MHL acts as your appointed Agent in booking your ferry
crossings or other requested services. Once we have
confirmed your holiday to you in writing, we then act as
agent for the ferry company (or other service provider). Your
contract for the provision of transport by sea, rail or air is
with the transport operator, and is subject to the provisions
of the relevant international conventions and to the published
conditions of carriage of the operator of the scheduled service
you have chosen. For copies, please request from our office
or service supplier.
10. Excursions. Excursions or other tours that you may
choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday are not
part of your package holiday provided by us.
11. The party leader is responsible for seeing that all
members of his party abide by the general rules of the
campsite. Only those persons named on the confirmation
and on our Accommodation Access Document may use our
holiday accommodation. Maximum occupancy is normally
limited to six persons. The party leader accepts that totally
unreasonable behaviour by himself or by any member of his
party could in the limit result in the expulsion of the whole
party from the campsite and/or from Matthews Holidays
Accommodation, before the end of the booked holiday.
The company will not accept liability for any loss, damage
or expense incurred as a result of such expulsion and no
refunds will be given. The party leader accepts that either
MHL or the senior campsite management have the right to
impose this sanction in the limit. MHL will not accept liability
if the campsite management fails to enforce its own rules.
12. Accommodation hire periods run from 4.00 pm on the
stated takeover day until 9.00 am on the stated departure date.
13. The hirer undertakes to leave the accommodation in a clean
and tidy condition, and to report any damages or breakages
occurring during his occupation. He undertakes to refund the
cost of repair or replacement of any damage or breakage.
14. Special Requirements. Please inform us of any
special requirements in writing. We shall do our best
to meet these requirements but there is no guarantee
given. The party leader accepts that requests for an
individual emplacement or a particular Mobile Home
number will not be guaranteed under any circumstances.
15. Amendments to Bookings. If you wish to make an
alteration to your booking after confirmation has been issued
we will do our utmost to satisfy your requirements. However,
your request for the change must be in writing and must be
accompanied by an administration fee of £15, or in the case
of an alteration after your tickets have been issued, £25.
Any alteration to your holiday accommodation date within
ten weeks of your departure will incur cancellation charges.
16. Dissatisfaction. In the event of any dissatisfaction with
the accommodation or other service provided by MHL in the
resort the matter should be reported immediately to the local
representative/agent so that appropriate action can be taken
to remedy the problem. If it can’t be put right immediately,
obtain a customer report form from our courier, complete it
and send a copy with your letter of complaint to our offices,
should you decide to follow up your complaint on your return.
Complaints should be submitted to our East Horsley offices
in writing within 30 days of returning from your holiday. If you
don’t provide the MHL site representative with timely written
details of a complaint which can be rectified on site, MHL will
not subsequently accept responsibility for that complaint.
Disputes arising out of, or in connection with this contract,
which cannot be amicably settled, may (if the customer so
wishes) be referred to arbitration under a special scheme
which, though devised by arrangement with the Association
of British Travel Agents, is administered quite independently.
The Scheme (details can be supplied on request or visit www.
abta.com) provides for a simple and inexpensive method of
arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on the
customer in respect of costs. The Scheme does not apply to
claims greater than £5,000 per person or £25,000 per booking
form or to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of
physical injury or illness - or the consequences of such injury
or illness. The rules of the scheme provide that the application
for arbitration is received by ABTA within eighteen months of
the date of return from the holiday but in special circumstances
it may still be offered outside this period.
17. Late Arrivals. Under no circumstances can MHL be held
in any way responsible for personal expenses incurred as a
result of arrivals after the time shown in your holiday itinerary.
18. Delayed Departure. MHL do not accept liability
for extra hotel or subsistence expenses which may
be incurred as a result of the delay or suspension of
scheduled transport services included in these holidays.

20. The carriers concerned assume no responsibility for the
contents of this brochure.
21. Your financial protection. The Package Holidays
Regulations 1992 require us to provide security for the
monies that you pay for the package holidays booked from
this brochure and for your repatriation in the event of MHL’s
insolvency. We provide this security by way of a bond held
by A.B.T.A (V2927).
