3. Infraestructura compartida entre bicicletas y otros vehículos CARRILES PREFERENTES Los carriles o vías preferentes para la circulación ciclista son aquellos carriles vehiculares donde se hace explícito, mediante señalización y marcas en el pavimento, la preferencia del ciclista a circular en ellos. Generalmente se trata de carriles más anchos de lo común, de manera que un automóvil y —en cómoda posición secundaria— una bicicleta pueden circular uno al lado del otro en el mismo carril sin comprometer la seguridad de nadie. Carril compartido en Coyoacán. Dado que es mucho más fácil instrumentarlos, en muchos casos estos carriles preferentes son implementados como medida “intermedia” debido a su bajo costo.
