III Encuentro Sindical de
Nuestra América Avanza
La Unidad de Trabajadores
Con la participación de
aproximadamente 300 delegaciones
de 23 países se realizó en Caracas,
Venezuela, el III Encuentro Sindical de
Nuestra América (ESNA) los días 22-24 de
julio de 2010. Con el énfasis puesto en la
necesidad de aunar propuestas y acciones
para contribuir desde los trabajadores con
los procesos emancipatorios que viven los
países de Nuestra América.
Durante el desarrollo del III ESNA se
aguardaban las presencias del canciller de
Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
El presidente de la República Bolivariana
de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, asistió al
acto de clausura del III Encuentro Sindical
Nuestra América que se desarrolló en el
Hotel Alba Caracas.
A partir de la jornada inaugural
comenzaron a funcionar tres Comisiones
que abordarán los temas centrales que
motivaron la convocatoria, para aportar,
desde la unidad amplia de los trabajadores,
al avance de los procesos liberadores que
se viven en América latina y el Caribe,
así como la estructuración del ESNA,
sus contenidos ideológicos, programa
y accionar, la creación de un instituto o
centro de formación para la región y la
proyección de una unidad que abarque
no solo a los sindicatos sino también a
los movimientos sociales, campesinos,
indígenas, culturales, territoriales, etc.
con objetivos e intereses comunes de
defensa de los principios democráticos,
de pluralismo, de soberanía frente al
imperio y de impulso a la lucha general
por los cambios.
Igualmente se refleja el desacuerdo de
los trabajadores con la liberalización de
la economía, al pago de la deuda externa
pública y a las privatizaciones en general,
así como a toda forma de subordinación
de la región y de los pueblos a los
intereses del capital transnacional, a
grupos económicos locales o al sistema
internacional de dominación y sus
instituciones, entre ellas el Grupo de
PLATAFORMA
1. Defensa de los derechos laborales y
sociales.
2. Integración solidaria y soberana.
3. Lucha en defensa de la soberanía
alimentaria, sobre los recursos
energéticos. Hídricos, la biodiversidad y la
sustentabilidad ambiental.
4. Trabajar por la unidad de acción sindical y
social de los que luchan desde su condición
de trabajadores formales e informales,
desempleados, campesinos, indígenas, sin
tierras, Jubilados y pensionados, mujeres
y jóvenes trabajadores.
5. Continuar con el trabajo unitario en
la búsqueda permanente de espacios
de actuación conjunta con las centrales
sindicales mundiales y regionales, en los
que defendamos los intereses comunes de
los trabajadores. Promover la creación de
una mesa de diálogo para coordinar una
plataforma de acción común.
6. Integrarnos y trabajar para fortalecer las
instancias sindicales regionales valorizando
el carácter unitario y democrático que las
sustenten.
7. Construir un ámbito de intercambio
con el conjunto de organizaciones
los 20, el G-8, el Fondo Monetario
Internacional y el Banco Mundial.
El primero de estos encuentros se
realizó en Quito, Ecuador en 2008,
posteriormente la cita fue trasladada a
Sao Paulo, Brasil en 2009; para concretarse
una tercera reunión este año en Caracas.
Una de las más
i m p o r t a n t e s
resoluciones adoptadas
en este encuentro es la
determinación de crear
un instituto para la
formación y capacitación
de nuevos dirigentes
sindicales.
La cuarta reunión sindical
se realizará en la capital
nicaragüense, Managua,
en agosto de 2011, en el
marco de la celebración
de la Revolución
Sandinista en ese país
centroamericano.

sociales de América e incursionar en la
posibilidad de actividades, acciones y
movilizaciones conjuntas. Estimular el
papel protagónico de los trabajadores en
las transformaciones políticas de nuestras
sociedades e insertarnos en las batallas
de los movimientos sociales, participando
recíprocamente de las distintas iniciativas,
luchas y programas, al tiempo que
brindamos nuestro aporte a sus acciones.
8. Desarrollar en cada país, espacios de
convergencia “Nuestra América” que
fortalezcan los procesos unitarios internos
e implementen con sus acciones las
resoluciones del ESNA.
9. Impulsar, organizar, participar y
auspiciar el desarrollo de encuentros,
seminarios y otras formas de intercambios
sobre diversos ejes temáticos. Fomentar el
estudio de las problemáticas que afectan
a los trabajadores y difundir materiales
que contribuyan a la clarificación de las
organizaciones sindicales.
10. Intensificar la divulgación de acciones
sindicales y artículos de opinión del
ESNA y de organizaciones sociales y
sindicales integrantes y fraternas. Las

of Our America Advances
Towards Workers Unity
With the participation of approximately
300 delegates from 23 countries, the
III Trade Union Meeting of Our America
(ESNA) took place from July 22-24th 2010
in Caracas, Venezuela. The meeting was
organized with the objective of uniting
workers’ proposals into actions that will
help consolidate the
emancipation process
that is unfolding
throughout
América.

PLATFORM
1. Defend labor and social rights.
2. Solidarity and sovereign integration.
3. Struggle for the defense of food sovereignty,
of energy resources, water, biodiversity and
environmental sustainability.
4. Work towards unity in action of organized
labor and social movements, that struggle
from each according to their work conditions,
both formal and informal, unemployed, farm
workers, indigenous, dispossessed, retired
and pensioned workers, women and young
workers.
5. Continue to work to build unity in action
with central labor confederations, at the
Regional and World level, where we can
jointly defend the common interests of
workers. Promote and create dialogue for the
coordination of a platform for joint action.
6. Join and work to build on labor unions at a
regional level, based on the character which
brings them together and on the democratic
principles that sustain them.
7. Build an environment of collaboration with
social organizations of the Americas, with
the purpose of coordinated, joint actions and
mobilizations. Stimulate the participation of
workers in the transformation of policies
that took place at the Hotel Alba Caracas.
At the opening ceremony, three working
commissions were formed to deal with
the central themes that motivated the
convening; such as the structure of the
ESNA, its ideological content, program and
action, the creation of a center or institute
for the formation of cadre for the promotion
of unity across the region that not only
includes labor unions, but also social, farm
worker, indigenous, cultural and territorial
movements, among others; all around the
common defense of democratic principles,
of pluralism, of sovereignty before the
empire, and the general impulse of struggle
for progressive change.
Equally, there was a general repudiation
by the workers of the liberalization of
the economy, of payment of the external
public debt and the privatization in general,
as well as all form of subordination of the
region and of the people to the interests
of transnational capital, to a group of local
economic interests and to the international
system of domination and its institutions,
among which include the Group of the 20,
the G-8, the International Monetary Fund,
and the World Bank.
The first of these trade union meetings took
place in Quito, Ecuador in 2008, later it was
convened in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2009; with
the third of its kind taking place in Caracas
Venezuela this year [2010].
Among the most important resolutions
was the creation of an institute that would
prepare and build on the skills of new labor
leaders.
The fourth trade union meeting will take
place in the Nicaraguan capital of Managua
in august of 2011, during the celebration
of the commemoration of the Sandinista
Revolution of that Central American
country.

within our societies and insert ourselves
in the struggles of social movements,
participating reciprocally on each action,
initiative, struggles and programs, as we lend
support to their actions.
8. Build within each country, convergence
with “Nuestra América” that favors the
internal unity process and implements,
through their actions, the ESNA resolutions.
9. Promote, organize, and host the seminars,
forums, and other forms of exchange on
a variety of themes. Promote the study of
problems that affect workers and promote
the distribution of material that help clarify
the role of labor unions.
10. Intensify the promotion of labor union
action and opinion articles from ESNA, and
social organizations, member unions and
fraternal organizations. Information shall be
included in the bulletin of the ESNA, that
will be published bi-monthly and on-line
for timely updates. In addition this could
also include other initiatives in concerning
communication that contribute towards the
objectives of the ESNA.
