Despertó sorprendida y con un llanto de desesperación.<br />
“Hay tan poco tiempo y aún tengo que prepararme,<br />
¡Oh Padre, Perdóname, veo lo que quieres decirme!<br />
El estar preparado significa algo más que una casa<br />
limpia. Más que los regalos y un árbol. Es un corazón<br />
limpio lo que Él desea ver, Un corazón libre de amarguras<br />

El Adviento es tiempo de conversión, tiempo de<br />
preparar los caminos y enderezar las sendas para que<br />
se acerque el advenimiento del Reino. Sólo Dios<br />
puede desenmascarar nuestro autoengaño y arrancarnos<br />
de nuestra mentira. Esa acción cauterizadora que<br />
Dios realiza en el hombre es el juicio, el juicio de<br />
Dios. El primer paso de la conversión es el sentirse<br />
juzgado por Dios. Lo que puede haber de decisión<br />
personal para cambiar, está movido por la acción<br />
previa de la iniciativa de Dios. Cuando se ha recibido<br />
el fuego de la acción juzgadora de Dios, entonces<br />
se recibe el Espíritu. El Reino de Dios está cada vez<br />
más cerca. Nadie puede detenerlo. El juicio pende<br />
sobre nuestras cabezas, como el hacha sobre la raíz<br />
del árbol que va a ser cortado. De cada uno depende<br />
el que ese juicio dé paso a una conversión o a un<br />
endurecimiento irremediable.<br />

The Advent season challenges us to prepare for God’s<br />
coming to us in the future, with power and great glory<br />
on the clouds <strong>of</strong> heaven, and for His present “coming”<br />
to us in his Word, in the Eucharist, and in the abiding<br />
presence <strong>of</strong> His Holy Spirit in our souls. Our waiting<br />
for that advent will be brought to completion when<br />
<strong>Christ</strong> comes in glory. The Advent mass’ readings invite<br />
us to recall God's saving deeds in the history <strong>of</strong> Israel,<br />
culminating in the coming <strong>of</strong> the promised<br />
Messiah. Paul reminds us that our remembrance <strong>of</strong><br />
God’s saving deeds during the Advent season is meant<br />
to stir our faith and to fill us with confidence so that "the<br />
One who began a good work in us will continue to complete<br />
it" until he comes again in glory. Advent helps us<br />
to prepare a royal road in our hearts for our Savior, a<br />
way out <strong>of</strong> the wilderness <strong>of</strong> sin and alienation from<br />
God.<br />
