Está ubicado en un edificio <strong>de</strong> gran valor histórico que<br />
data <strong>de</strong> 1850 y que albergó al Templo <strong>de</strong>l Encino, posteriormente<br />
dio cabida a diversas oficinas <strong>de</strong> gobierno.<br />
En 1972, el inmueble fue remo<strong>de</strong><strong>la</strong>do e inaugurado el 16<br />
<strong>de</strong> septiembre <strong>de</strong>l mismo año para exhibir <strong>la</strong> obra <strong>de</strong>l<br />
José Guadalupe Posada. En 1990 le fueron adaptados<br />
nuevos espacios para exposición y en ellos exhibir obra<br />
en papel. Con fondos <strong>de</strong>l conaculta, en 1997 su material<br />
museístico fue renovado mediante el Programa <strong>de</strong> Apoyo<br />
a <strong>la</strong> Infraestructura Cultural <strong>de</strong> los Estados.<br />
Cuenta con cuatro sa<strong>la</strong>s <strong>de</strong> exhibición y un patio central<br />
con nueve arcos <strong>de</strong> punto. En una <strong>de</strong> sus sa<strong>la</strong>s permanentes<br />
se pue<strong>de</strong> apreciar <strong>la</strong> obra <strong>de</strong> Posada y en otra<br />
<strong>la</strong> <strong>de</strong> Manuel Manil<strong>la</strong>. También exhibe una colección <strong>de</strong><br />
obras ganadoras <strong>de</strong>l Concurso <strong>Nacional</strong> <strong>de</strong> Grabado<br />
José Posada, que dada su importancia sirve como parámetro<br />
para conocer los trabajos <strong>de</strong> calidad que realizan<br />
los grabadores mexicanos.<br />

The museum is located in a high value historic building from<br />
1850 that in ol<strong>de</strong>r days was the Templo <strong>de</strong>l Encino (Oak<br />
temple); it was used also thru history as government offices.<br />
In 1972 the building was <strong>de</strong>eply restored and opened the<br />
16 of September, National In<strong>de</strong>pen<strong>de</strong>nce day, of that year,<br />
with the exhibit of José Guadalupe Posada work –one of<br />
the best known a most representative printers and engravers<br />
of Mexico–. In 1990 new spaces were adapted as<br />
show rooms to exhibit he’s paper work. Funds from the<br />
National Council for Arts and Culture were used in 1997 to<br />
renovate it the budget came from the Support Program<br />
for the Cultural Infrastructure of the States.<br />
By now the building has four show rooms and a Central<br />
Patio surroun<strong>de</strong>d by nine arches. One of the main rooms<br />
has the artwork of Posada and another one has the work<br />
of Manuel Manil<strong>la</strong> – another great Mexican printer-<br />
The museum also exhibits a wi<strong>de</strong> collection of pieces that<br />
won the José Guadalupe Posada National Engraving Contest<br />
that because of its importance is used as way to measure<br />
the quality of the printing that Mexican artist do.
