FAR from Ibiza’s wayward party scene and
into the wooded hills is a private clifftop
paradise with picturesque views and pastoral
charm. Hotel Las Brisas de Ibiza is a
rural idyll set amid ravishing natural beauty;
the ultimate island escape in virtually unspoilt
terrain. Here a dozen or so neighbouring
villas dot Porroig’s serene peninsular – a
sparsely populated cape on Ibiza’s south
coast, just 15 minutes from Ibiza Town.
“A lot of people don’t know this place
because there are not many beaches
nearby,” says hotel manager Fabio Del
Rizzo. “But it’s close to Cala Jondal and at
the same time very private. It’s very nice,
it’s very wild.”
Breathtaking views are the hotel’s most
striking feature. The garden – which has a
swimming pool surrounded by palm trees
with deluxe daybeds and all-day sun –
overlooks the rugged, pine-forested coastline
and rocky coves of Es Cubells, while
Es Torrent’s picturesque beach is tucked in
a sheltered bay nearby. The hotel cleverly
unites the rustic and modern, the laidback
and action packed, with a courtyard gym,
a private tennis court and mountain bikes
for guests with numerous cycle routes and
maps provided on request.
While the hotel’s exterior steals the aweinspiring
show, inside a myriad of corridors
connect assorted communal areas with
colourful decor. Wood features and rich
colours enhance the Eastern, African and
Ibizenco themes with Buddha statues,
hanging Moroccan lamps, cacti, mosaics,
arched doorways and art works all bringing
the interiors to life. “Room number one is
classic while number four is more ethnic,”
Del Rizzo adds. “The family suite is more
modern. It’s very mixed.” All ten rooms
have an outdoor terrace and many afford
sea views while the eclectic decor is in
part due to the creative flair of the French
former owner who built the hotel 16 years
ago and owned it until 2008.
Priding itself on privacy, Hotel Las Brisas
de Ibiza operates without a reception or
street signs. It is the perfect romantic bolthole,
the ideal rock-star retreat. “Sometimes
a VIP wishes to stay in a place where
nobody can see them. So they’ll take a
junior room here and stay on their terrace.
It’s very discreet. We have entry gates and
you have to ring the phone to come in or
out. This is a very private place. For guests
it’s like staying at home but with four-star
service. There’s no one at reception checking
them in or out – they’re very free.”
Despite its relative seclusion, Hotel
Las Brisas de Ibiza is incredibly popular
throughout the summer period (Easter to
October) so a minimum reservation of five
nights in peak season is required. The
poolside bar and restaurant serves simple
Mediterranean and oriental inspired fare
using fresh local produce. Managed by Del
Rizzo’s wife, Susana Camacho, it is open
from 1pm to midnight, with breakfast
served from 8am until late. Relaxing and
reinvigorating, serene and self-contained,
Hotel Las Brisas de Ibiza is a real find.
LEJOS de toda la fiesta de Ibiza y dentro
de las frondosas montañas hay un paraíso
privado en lo alto de un acantilado,
con unas vistas pintorescas y un encanto
pastoral. El Hotel Las Brisas de Ibiza es
un escenario rural e idílico ubicado entre
una belleza natural que te embelesa;
lo último en escapadas a un terreno
prácticamente virgen. Aproximadamente
una escasa docena de casas vecinas
salpican la serena península de Porroig –
una zona muy poco habitada de la costa
sur de la isla, a tan sólo 15 minutos de
Ibiza ciudad.
“Mucha gente no conoce este lugar
porque no hay playas cercanas”, dice el
director del hotel Fabio del Rizzo. “Pero
está cerca de Cala Jondal y al mismo
tiempo es un lugar muy privado. Es muy
agradable y muy salvaje”.
Sus vistas sobrecogedoras son su característica
más llamativa. El jardín – que
tiene una piscina rodeada de palmeras,
tumbonas de lujo y sol durante todo el día
– mira hacia un escarpado litoral cubierto
de pinos y hacia las rocosas calas de Es
Cubells. Por otra parte, la pintoresca playa
de Es Torrent está situada en una bahía
cercana. El hotel une ingeniosamente
lo rústico con lo moderno, la tranquilidad
con la acción, con un gimnasio en el patio,
una pista de tenis privada y bicicletas
para los huéspedes con numerosas rutas
y mapas que pueden solicitarse.
Mientras que el exterior del hotel se
lleva los aplausos, dentro, una multitud
de pasillos, conectan las zonas comunes
con una colorida decoración. Los
protagonistas son la madera y los colores
chillones ensalzados por una temática
oriental, africana e ibicenca, con estatuas
de Buda, lámparas marroquíes, cactus,
mosaicos, pasillos arqueados y obras
de arte que hacen que su interior cobre
vida. “La habitación número uno es
clásica mientras que la cuatro es más
moderna. Está muy mezclado”. Las diez
habitaciones tienen una terraza exterior y
muchas tienen el lujo de permitirse vistas
al mar. Además, su decoración ecléctica
se debe en parte, al don creativo de su
antiguo propietario francés que construyó
el hotel hace 16 años, dirigiéndolo hasta
el 2008.
Como orgulloso se su privacidad, el
Hotel Las Brisas de Ibiza funciona sin
recepción y carece de señales en la calle.
Es el escondite romántico perfecto, el
retiro ideal para una estrella del rock.
“A veces los VIP desean hospedarse en
un sitio donde nadie pueda verlos. Así
que reservan una junior suite aquí y se
quedan en su terraza. Es muy discreto.
Tenemos puertas de entrada y tienes que
llamar para poder entrar o salir. Es un
lugar muy privado. Para los invitados es
como hospedarse en casa pero con un
servicio de cuatro estrellas. No hay nadie
en recepción registrando sus entradas y
salidas – son muy libres”.
A pesar de su relativo aislamiento, el
Hotel Las Brisas de Ibiza es increíblemente
popular durante el periodo de
verano (de Pascua a octubre) así que
es necesario un mínimo de cinco días
para poder reservar. Tanto el bar junto
a la piscina como el restaurante sirven
comida mediterránea y oriental utilizando
productos locales frescos. Dirigido por la
mujer de Del Rizzo, Susana Camacho,
está abierto de 13.00 a medianoche. El
desayuno se sirve de 8.00 hasta bien
tarde. Relajante y revitalizador, sereno
e independiente, el Hotel Las Brisas de
Ibiza es un verdadero tesoro.
