<strong>No</strong>guera's Popoluca words were reproduced from memory by father Victor <strong>No</strong>guera to Berendt<br />
in 1874. <strong>No</strong>guera's original document was lost. Berendt said that <strong>No</strong>guera compiled the original<br />
list in 1855.<br />

The title page written in Brinton's hand is: "Vocabulario <strong>de</strong> la Lengua Popoluca <strong>de</strong> Matagalpa<br />
-- por D. Victor [Jesus] <strong>No</strong>guera -- 1855. Copiado en Masaya, Marzo <strong>de</strong> 1874." At the bottom of<br />
that page is "Ex libris Daniel G. Brinton."<br />

stemmed from the southern Atlantic migration (Chibcha).<br />
