Business Incubator Executive Director
Al López es nombrado Director Ejecutivo de la Incubadora de Empresas EGBI
Economic Growth Business Incubator (EGBI),
a leading non-profit providing business incubation
services in the Austin area, today
announced the hiring of Al Lopez as its first
executive director (ED). Lopez will assume
the ED position in December 2010.
Prior to joining EGBI, Lopez was a finance
executive at Dell, Inc. for 11 years, most recently
serving as vice president of finance
for Dell’s Global Services & IT organization.
Previously he spent 21 years at IBM in a host of financial management
and executive positions, including two years overseas in France, after
starting his career as a sales representative.
“I am honored and delighted to join EGBI as its first executive director,”
commented Lopez. “I believe this organization has great potential,
serves a very important segment of our economy, and I look forward to
using my background and skills to fulfill those prospects.”
In addition to his extensive executive corporate background, Lopez has
a strong history of community outreach. He serves as vice president of
the St. John Neighborhood Association and chairs the Austin Achievement
Zone board of directors, as well as working as a member of the
Austin Community Housing Development (CHDO) Roundtable and the
For The City Network.
Lopez holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of
Arizona and an MBA from the University of Northern Colorado. He also
served on the University of Texas at Austin Accounting Advisory Council
for several years. He and his wife Judy are active at the Austin Stone
Community Church. They have three married children.

EGBI, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded in 2003 by the
Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) to meet the
technology needs of a growing number of Austin small businesses.
EGBI and the GAHCC partnered with the Housing Authority of the City
of Austin (HACA) to implement a Small Business/Micro-Enterprise Business
Incubator, Emerging Enterprises, which opened its doors in 2008.
Since its inception, EGBI has offered classes and helped start a wide
spectrum of local small businesses in industries as varied as medical,

director ejecutivo, Al López quien asumió dicha posición a partir de diciembre
del 2010.
Antes de unirse a EGBI, López fungió como ejecutivo en el área de finanzas

Además de su extensa experiencia ejecutiva a nivel corporativo, López participa
activamente a favor de la comunidad. Funge como vice presidente
