REFLECTION ON THE READINGS
Sixth Sunday of Easter (May 5)
Acts 15:1-2,22-29 Ps 67:2-3,5-6,8 Rv 21: 10-14,22-23 Jn 14:23-29
The aim of every grace that we human beings receive,
in virtue of Christ’s redempon, is directed toward our
entrance into the perfect unity of the Most Blessed
Trinity (Jn 17:21-23). We are thereby called to be
inhabited by the divine persons: “Anyone who loves
me will be true to my word, and my father will love
him; we will come to him and make our dwelling place
with him always” (Jn 14:23). This inhabitaon by virtue
of sancfying grace constutes us into Temples of the
Most Blessed Trinity. In this way, the human being is
sacred temple of God, a temple, that, when in grace, is
inhabited, together with the divine persons, by all of
heaven, a heaven that, as the book of Revelaon
instructs, “has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of
God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Rv 21:23).
If we truly meditate and move in this supernatural
direcon of grace, we will enter myscal
contemplaon of these mysteries guided by a faith and
a hope formed and defined by charity. The virtue of
hope makes it possible for us to live in ancipaon of
this glory that, in this life, is sealed with the cross of
suffering and personal effort. Notwithstanding, this
cross is not without the Peace that Christ leaves us, a
Peace, “not as the world gives peace” (Jn 14:27). Let us
make our own the prayer of the Blessed Elizabeth of
the Trinity, with which we can summarize this
reflecon: “My God, adorable Trinity, help me to forget
myself enrely so as to establish myself in you, steady
and placid, as if my soul were already in eternity; may
nothing disturb my peace, nor take me away from you,
my immutable one, rather may every minute take me
further into the depth of your Mystery. Pacify my soul.
Make it your heaven, your loving dwelling and the
place of your rest. May I never leave you in it alone,
instead may I be there enrely, totally awake in my
faith, in adoraon, surrendered enrely without
reserve to your creave acon.”
REFLEXIÓN SOBRE LAS ESCRITURAS
Sexto domingo de Pascua (5 de mayo)
Hech 15:1-2,22-29 Sal 67:2-3,5-6,8 Ap 21: 10-14,22-23 Jn 14:23-29
El fin úlmo de toda la gracia que, por la redención de
Cristo, recibimos los seres humanos es nuestra entrada
en la unidad perfecta de la Bienaventurada Trinidad (Jn
17:21-23). Somos, pues, llamados a ser inhabitados por
las Personas Divinas: “El que me ama —dice Cristo—
guardará mi palabra y mi Padre lo amará, y vendremos
a él y haremos morada en él” (Jn 14:23). Esta
inhabitación por la gracia sanficante nos constuye en
Templos de la Sansima Trinidad. Así, el ser humano es
templo sagrado de Dios, un templo que, cuando está en
gracia, es inhabitado, junto con las personas divinas,
por el cielo entero, un cielo que, como nos enseña el
Apocalipsis, “no necesita sol ni luna que la alumbre,
porque la gloria de Dios la ilumina y su lámpara es el
Cordero” (Ap 21:23). Si verdaderamente meditamos y
nos movemos en esta dirección sobrenatural de la
gracia, entraremos en la contemplación mísca de
estos misterios guiados por una fe y una esperanza
formadas y definidas por la caridad. La virtud de la
esperanza nos hace vivir ya ancipadamente esa gloria
que, en esta vida, está sellada por la cruz del
sufrimiento y del esfuerzo personal. No obstante, esta
cruz no es sin la Paz que Cristo nos deja, una Paz “como
no nos la puede dar este mundo” (Jn 14:27). Hagamos
nuestra la siguiente oración de la Beata Isabel de la
Trinidad, con la que podemos resumir esta homilía:
“Dios mío, Trinidad que adoro, ayúdame a olvidarme
enteramente de mí mismo para establecerme en ,
inmóvil y apacible como si mi alma estuviera ya en la
eternidad; que nada pueda turbar mi paz, ni hacerme
salir de , mi inmutable, sino que cada minuto me lleve
más lejos en la profundidad de tu Misterio. Pacifica mi
alma. Haz de ella tu cielo, tu morada amada y el lugar
de tu reposo. Que yo no te deje jamás solo en ella, sino
que yo esté allí enteramente, totalmente despierta en
mi fe, en adoración, entregada sin reservas a tu acción
creadora”.
