12-14 mm. Carábido áptero, <strong>de</strong> coloración uniformemente negra, más o menos bril<strong>la</strong>nte<br />
en <strong>los</strong> machos y mate en <strong>la</strong>s hembras.<br />
Los individuos <strong>de</strong> esta especie parecen mostrar cierta predilección por pra<strong>de</strong>ras calizas<br />
<strong>de</strong> cierta altitud.<br />
La especie coloniza el norte <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> penínsu<strong>la</strong> Ibérica y el sur <strong>de</strong> Francia bajo diferentes<br />
subespecies. Según Serrano (2003), <strong>los</strong> ejemp<strong>la</strong>res localizados en Urdaibai<br />
correspon<strong>de</strong>rían a <strong>la</strong> forma nominal <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> especie. Ortuño et al. (1997) registraron <strong>la</strong><br />
especie <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>s tres provincias <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> C.A.P.V.
