The volcano of San Miguel is located
in the municipality of San Miguel, 11
kilometers from the city of the same
name in El Salvador. It rises isolated
mountain range Chinameca. It has a
height of 2130 K A S L, The third
highest volcano of El Salvador. It has a
crater 800 meters in diameter and
several adventitious why lava ejected
burned. In addition, the cone is
considered among the best in
Centralamerica.
This volcano is considered among the
most active in El Salvador. Are
calculated at least 26 eruptions in the
last 304 years, the most notable from
1787. Since the founding of the city of
San Miguel in 1530, will feature eight
lava flows through volcanic cone
cracks. The last eruption activity
began in 1976. The most recent
seismic activity related to the volcano

Tourist´s visits , La Union, are never
complete without visiting the beach
PLAYITAS. This beach is 6 km. city in the far
east. Access is by dirt road which is in
acceptable condition to travel in any vehicle,
at moderate speed
The food supply is abundant, there are
traditional foods. chicken, beef, seafood,
shrimp, lobsters, crabs ,Apretadores,
seafood platters, fish in its varieties and
drinks. all in a friendly and very Salvadoran,
with hammocks and music
To locate the Street Playitas, we must find
the ring near new port Cutuco, if we go from
the city must continue the same direction of
traffic, and if we travel by the new by- Pass
must cross to the right where after a mile
find the beginning of the dirt road. This road
leads directly to Playitas, and can be seen in
the way the proximity of the coast of the Bay
and Gulf

beaches is one of the smaller beaches of the
East, but it is very popular, because it has

boat around the beach to the Conchaguita
island.
Playitas is visited during weekends and
holidays; around a private pool that can be
enjoyed for $ 0.50 (fifty cents) water
that has come from a source nearby, but I
must warn that this whole area is volcanic
so the water temperature is warm but it is
very nice and relaxing
Also you can enjoy a pleasant boat ride
along the beach and visit the nearby islands
and Conchagua volcano is a few minutes
from playitas beach

Playitas beach is characterized the smallest
of the department of the Union, but many
tourists visiting this beautiful beach not
regret visiting. for its delicious dish, a
pleasant beach that you can play on the
sand around the beach
You can climb and take some pictures on a
area of rocks along this beach, a beautiful
view of the island closest to the beach. And
also you can play soccer on the sand around
the beach. Playitas plus a tourist area is a
commercial area because you can buy fresh
fish of every variety, and a variety of fresh
seafood.
Visit playitas and you will not regret.

Salvador.
CORSAIN port, is one of the busiest
in domestic and international
trade.
The bay borders with Honduras
and Nicaragua, and is an excellent
place for fishing.

Overview of wetland: Union Bay is an
important habitat complex marine and
estuarine wetlands. At the marina stands
the highest concentration of low muddy and
sandy country, covering them almost all the
waters of the Bay. In the terrestrial include
mangroves, these being the third in size of El
Salvador, while part of a tri-national
ecological and social group which is one of
the largest expanses of forests of this type
found in Central America. terms
general is a low-growing mangrove showing
significant deterioration processes by
uncontrolled logging and the creation of salt
works on the edges and inside. Within the
wetland are two islands (Perico and
Parakeet) partly covered by forest sweet,
that are almost connected to the mainland
at low tide. Several communities living in or
near the mangrove bivalve shellfish
engaging and crabs and fishing. Around the
salt mangrove and shrimp thrive, often at
the expense of reducing the original surface
of this habitat, and some areas of
herbaceous swamps and reeds or bulrushes.
The uncertainty of land ownership is very
marked in the area as well as the very
limited presence of agents of state or nongovernmental
and invasions of mangrove
areas. The wetland environment is
composed of land areas converted to
pasture for cattle grazing, known locally as
"backpacks", typical of this region.

Alegría a great place for sightseeing in El Salvador
Algeria is one of the most beautiful places that
people can visit and discover here in El Salvador
which is located at approximately 1,200 meters
above sea level in the department of Usulután.
The municipality's cool climate lends itself to many
thriving local plant nurseries, some of which
specialize in tropical flowers such as birds of
paradise, anthuriums, orchids, and varieties of
bromelias. The town is famous for its volcanic lake,
the Alegría Lagoon, which is a national protected
area managed by the NGO ADESCAM

Alegria lagoon
In the Sierra of Chinameca one of the most
important volcanoes is Tecapa, located at 26
kilometers away from Usulután, and 2 kilometers to
the south of Alegria. Its peak, in the famous plain of
Quemela, at 1,603 meters above sea level exhibits a
big rocky crater, oval and guided from east to west
in whose bottom, in eccentric position to the
southeast and at 1,250 meters high, a small crater
form lake of yellow-greenish waters exists, resting
on mantels of sulfur. The highest part of the crater
circumvallation to the northeast is the culminating
point of the volcanic cone and the lowest is to the
east and at 1,275 meters high. In that area a current
of lava was spilled in prehistoric time.
The little lagoon is one of the most beautiful places
of the country. It was called formerly Tecapa, the
same as the volcano, but from recent times it is also
denominated "Laguna de Alegria", because it is next
to the city of the same name. It has thermal sources
and fumaroles, mainly in the northwest direction
and a circumvallation highway for driven vehicles. In
nahuat language the name of Tecapa means
"Lagoon of stones." In the skirts of the volcano
Tecapa, to the north, are the thermal sources or
fumaroles of Bufadero, Tronador, Tronadorcito,
Loma China, and El Pinar.

• The park of Algeria
• In the park of the city of Alegria, the bust in
memory of educator Presbytery José
Miguel Alegria is erected. He was a
remarkable professor of Latin who founded
in the town of Tecapa around 1838, a
philosophy school. Because of the Law of
February 17 of 1891, the city of Tecapa was
denominated city of Alegria. This famous
professor's body remains in the crypt of this
population's parochial church
• The current temple of Alegria began being
built on August 26, 1870. Alegria is the
cradle of the illustrious Salvadoran teacher
and thinker don Alberto Masferrer.

• HOW TO GET THERE’?
• You can take bus #249 from Sonsonate
towards Berlin and Alegria. It will take you
about half an hour to arrive at the Parque
Central.
• Bus 348 from Usulutan comes to Alegria
through Santiago de Maria. But be careful
as we arrived at 4:45 to catch a bus from
Usulutan to Alegria and the last bus had left
already, or so we were told by the locals
and we didn't want to chance getting stuck
in Usulutan. We were able to taxi for US$20
and it took just under an hour to get into
town.
