Hlmalla (1709-1821)
This paper deals on with the e« momic Jife o/ the Real de ",¡"as of
Huautla, mining locality situated in the Cuautla o/ Amilpas d istrict,
throughout the 18" century. The work analyzes the greal mining
growth w hich happened between 1770 and 1790. causOO b y the
action of three faclors: the Bourbon reforms (in special reductions
and fiscal exemptioos). the rote ptayed by the lOioing pri vileges io
the reactivation o/ the economic activ ities o/ the small mining nudei
wh ich were located in the center olthe Viceroyalty - m ust o/ them
coming Iro lO the 16'" and 17 th centurtes-c- and the compar a live
advantage tha t represented ils proximit y to México City. the most
important market in New Spain.
