INTRODUCTION
The booklet “Having Fun at the East side of El Salvador”
shows information about tourism in El Salvador and
describes the different places with his characteristics.
It is focused on the East side and his different natural
destination for people that want to go and enjoy them.
This booklet provides a guidebook to foreigner tourists
that are on vacation in our country.
It presents six of the most charming tourist destinations
on the East side of El Salvador:
1. El Cuco beach
2. Las Tunas beach
3. Las Flores beach
4. El Espino beach
5. Alegría
6. Perquín
INTRODUCCIÓN
La revista “Diviértete en la Zona Oriental de El Salvador”
muestra información acerca del turismo en El Salvador y
describe los diferentes lugares con sus características.
Está enfocada en la Zona Oriental y sus diferentes
destinos naturales para las personas que quieran ir y
disfrutar de ellos.
Esta revista proporciona una guía informativa esencial y
veraz para los turistas extranjeros que se encuentran de
vacaciones en nuestro país.
Presenta seis de los destinos turísticos más fascinantes
de la Zona Oriental de El Salvador:

Justification
Our mission is to provide a better tourist attraction view
of the most beautiful places of El Salvador to the public
and those interested in visiting us. We acknowledge
that people on vacation want to enjoy their time and
have fun while at it, and that the internet, while it is
useful, it is clog up with useless information that we are
not interested in, and it doesn’t provide us reliable
information.
We are convinced the work we have put in this
magazine will be of great value to the audience. Our
printed publication refines our presence in the tourist
world to give a concise insight into El Salvador beaches
and attractive sites."
Justificación
Nuestra misión es proporcionar una mejor vista de
atracción turística de los lugares más bellos de El
Salvador para el público y los interesados en visitarnos.
Somos conscientes de que la gente que está de
vacaciones quiere disfrutar de su tiempo y divertirse al
mismo tiempo, y que el internet, aunque es útil, está
lleno de información incompetente que no nos interesa
y no nos brinda información confiable.
Estamos convencidos que el trabajo que hemos
realizado en esta revista será de gran valor para el
público. Nuestra publicación impresa refina nuestra
presencia en el mundo turístico para dar una visión
concisa en las playas de El Salvador y lugares atractivos.

BIODATA
SOFIA DE LOS ÁNGELES OCHOA JIMÉNEZ
I was born on May, 15 th in 1995. I’m 19 years
old. I live in El Carmen, La Unión. My parents
are Mario Antonio Ochoa Márquez and
María Estela Jiménez de Ochoa. I have three
siblings. Two brothers: Mario and Misael,
and one sister: Esmeralda. I’m a friendly and
funny girl.
I like meeting new people, that’s why I have
so many friends. My bests friends are Leo
Meléndez and Karen Luna. I like everything
related to music, I can play the guitar and I
really love singing and dancing.
My favorite singer is Ricardo Arjona, I really
love his songs. I like going to parties and
hanging out with my friends. I do not like
going to the beach at all. Actually, my
favorite part of that is I can share with my
friends and family. My favorite food is
Mexican food. I love cold weather so much
and I enjoy traveling.
I’m studying a Bachelor Degree in English at
Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO). This is my
second year and I like speaking English
language. I hope I can improve it in my next
three years.
Nací el 15 de mayo de 1995. Tengo 19 años
de edad. Vivo en El Carmen, La Unión. Mis
padres son Mario Antonio Ochoa Márquez y
María Estela Jiménez de Ochoa. Tengo tres
hermanos, dos hermanos: Mario y Misael, y
una hermana: Esmeralda. Soy una chica
amigable y divertida.
Me gusta conocer personas nuevas, es por
eso que tengo muchos amigos. Mis mejores
amigos son Leo Meléndez. Me gusta todo lo
relacionado a la música, puedo tocar la
guitarra y me gusta mucho cantar y bailar.
Mi cantante favorito es Ricardo Arjona, me
gustan mucho sus canciones. Me gusta ir a
fiestas y salir con mis amigos. No me gusta
mucho ir a la playa. La verdad, mi parte
favorita de eso es que puedo compartir con
mis amigos y mi familia. Mi comida favorita
es la comida mexicana. Me encanta el clima
frío y disfruto los viajes.
Estoy estudiando Licenciatura en idioma
Inglés en la Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO).
Este es mi segundo año y me gusta hablar el
idioma inglés. Espero poder mejorar en los
próximos tres años.

NELSON EDUARDO HENRIQUEZ GUTIERREZ
I am Salvadoran I was born on January 3 in
1986. I was born in San Miguel, San Miguel. I
live in Jucuapa, Usulutan. I’m 28 years old.
My parents are Noe Nelson Henriquez and
Ana Gladys Gutierrez de Henriquez, my
mother is a teacher and my father is an
accountant. I have three siblings, two
brothers, Luis Henriquez, Diego Henriquez
and one sister, Cindy Henriquez.
I like reading books and listening to music.
I’m studying a Bachelor Degree in English at
Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO) and this is
my second year.
Salvadoreño por nacimiento, nací el 3 de
enero de 1986 en San Miguel, San Miguel.
Vivo en Jucuapa, Usulutan. Tengo 28 años de
edad.
Mis padres son Noe Nelson Henriquez y Ana
Gladys Gutierrez de Henriquez, mi mamá es
profesora y mi papá es contador. Tengo tres

KAREN CECILIA RODRÍGUEZ ZELAYA
I was born in La Union city, El Salvador, in
1994. It is a beautiful city in the Coast Line in
El Salvador and I grew up in there with my
parents and sisters. I am the second
daughter from three girls in my nuclear
family.
I went to kindergarten from 1997 to 2000. I
started my elementary school in 2001 and I
finished it in 2009, after that I took the High
School from 2010 to 2012.
I am twenty years old. I am single and I don't
have children. I am funny, quiet and
sometimes I get angry but it is in specific
situations.
I live in La Union and now I am studying
Bachelor Degree in English at Universidad de
Oriente (UNIVO) in San Miguel city.
Nací en la ciudad de La Unión, El Salvador en
1994. Esta es una ciudad hermosa en la Línea
Costera de El Salvador creciendo en ella con
mis padres y mis hermanas, yo soy la
segunda hija de tres chicas en mi familia
nuclear.
Fui al kínder desde el año 1997 hasta 2000.
Comencé mis estudios de primaria en el 2000
y los culminé en el 2009. Después de eso, a
partir del año 2010 al 2012 realicé mis
estudios de Bachillerato.
Tengo 20 años de edad. Estoy soltera y no
tengo hijos. Soy divertida, callada y algunas
veces, me enojo pero solo en situaciones
específicas.
Vivo en La Unión y estoy estudiando
Licenciatura en idioma Inglés en la
Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO) en la ciudad
de San Miguel.

GENESIS GUADALUPE RODRIGUEZ CHAVEZ.
I´m 20 years old. I´m Salvadoran. I was born on February
12th in 1994. I was born in Chinameca, San Miguel. I
used to live in Jucuapa since I was a little girl, but I
moved to San Miguel in 2008.
My parents are Jaime Rigoberto Rodríguez Chávez and
Rosario del Milagro Chávez de Rodríguez. My father is a
lawyer and my mother is a nurse. I have 4 siblings, I
have three sisters: Judit, Debora and Rebeca; and my
only brother, Jaime. My best friends are Hansy, Nelson
and Tania. I love them so much. They´re really funny
and friendly.
I Love listening to music all day long. My favorite singer
is Bruno Mars and my favorite band is Paramore. I like
dancing, singing and writing. I love writing novels. I like
watching television but not all the time; my favorite
programs are “Glee”, “Criminal Minds”, “Cake Boss”,
and “Hell´s kitchen” because they´re funny and
interesting. I like do exercise and go out with my
friends.
I´m studying a Technical Degree in English and I hope to
graduate, I will miss these 2 years next to my friends,
and also I hope to get a good job.

desde que era pequeña pero me mudé a San Miguel en
el 2008.
Mis padres son Jaime Rigoberto Rodríguez Chávez y
Rosario del Milagro Chávez de Rodríguez. Mi papá es
abogado y mi mamá es enfermera. Tengo 4 hermanos;
sus nombres son Judit, Débora y Rebeca y mi único
hermano se llama Jaime. Mis mejores amigos se llaman
Hansy, Nelson Y Tania. Ellos son muy divertidos y
amigables.
Me gusta pasar escuchando música todo el día. Mi
cantante favorito es Bruno Mars y mi banda favorita se
llama Paramore. Me gusta bailar, cantar y escribir, me
encanta escribir novelas. También me gusta ver la
televisión pero no todo el tiempo. Mis programas
favoritos son “Glee”, “Criminal Minds”, “Cake Boss” y
“Hell´s Kitchen” porque son muy divertidos e
interesantes. Me gusta hacer ejercicio y salir con mis
amigos.
Estoy estudiando un Técnico en Inglés, espero

PRUDENCIO ORELLANA BONILLA
I was born in Los Amates, Chapeltique, San Miguel, in
1975. My parents are Juan and Gloria Bonilla, I am the
first of five kids.
In early 80’s my family left to the United States of
America due to the war that was beginning to take full
swing.
I did all of my studies there, I got a degree in the
computer technical field from Alvin Community College
in 2010.
Now, I’m studying Bachelor Degree in English at
Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO) and this is my second
year.
Nací en Los Amates, Chapeltique, San Miguel, en 1975.
Mis padres son Juan y Gloria Bonilla, yo soy el primero
de los cinco niños.
A principios de los 80 mi familia se fue a los Estados
Unidos de América debido a la guerra que comenzaba a
tomar su apogeo. Yo hice todos mis estudios allí, tengo
un título en el campo técnico informático de Alvin
Community College que tomé en 2010.
Hoy, estoy estudiando Licenciatura en idioma Inglés en
la Universidad de Oriente (UNIVO) y este es mi segundo
año.

HANSY FRANCISCO PEREZ APARICIO.
I was born on october 3rd, 1989 in san
miguel, so im 25 years old.
I live in Nueva Guadalupe wich is a city from
san miguel. I have a younger brother, his
name is allan salvador, my mother’s name is
Erla Yanira Aparicio she is a teacher, my
father’s name is Juan Francisco Perez, he is a
bus driver; and, well, yeah i still live with
them.
I’m studing in order to get my bachellors
degree in english, wich is a carreer that i
always wanted to study, but i also have a
technical degree in computer science, i got it
studying at ITCA, i graduated in 2007.
I’ve work as a technical supporter and
teacher in the field of informatics.
I’m a pretty out going and easy going guy, i
like playing, basketball, i also practice surfing
wich in my opinion is the most exiting
extreme sport.
Other of my favorites hobbies is playing
video games, i also like Reading boks,
actually my favorite genre is horror and my
favorite writer is one of the best in the
genre: the famous Stephen King.
Nací el 3 de octubre de 1989, en san miguel,
asi que tengo 25 años.
Vivo la ciudad de Nueva Guadalupe, la cual
pertenece al departamento de san miguel.
Tengo un hermano menor que se llama alan
salvador, my madre se llama Erla Yanira
Aparicio, su profesión es maestra, my padre
se llama Juan Francisco Perez y es motorista
del transporte publico, y pues bueno, si aun
vivo con ellos.
Estoy actualmente estudiando para poder
obtener my licenciatura en ingles, la cual es
la carrera que siempre quise estudiar, sin
embargo, también tengo una carrera técnica
en computación, la estudie en el ITCA y me
gradue en 2007.
Tengo experiencia laboral como maestro y
technico de soporte en el campo de la
informática.
Soy un tipo muy llevadero y extrovetido, me
gusta jugar basketball, también practico el
surf el cual en mi opinión es el deporte
extremo mas emocionante.
Otro de mis pasatiempos favoritos son los
video juegos, también me gusta mucho leer,
de hecho mi genero literario favorito es el de
terror y my escritor favorito es uno de sus
máximos exponentes: el famoso Stephen
King.

East Side of El Salvador” is to provide
reliable and complete information that is
helpful for people who want to visit El
Salvador. That's why we offer six different
tourist destinations, hotels and restaurants
that are close to the area and the route that
you have to follow for getting the place.
Also, this information that the audience is
receiving, makes a vacation a memorable
one for you and your family and friends,
because it contains different choices for you
to decide which of them is more convenient
if we refer to number of rooms available at a
hotel, the time that it is going to take you to

This is a touristic oriented booklet designed to give
different natural and beautiful touristic destination
options to foreigners tourists as well as national
tourists, focused on the east side of our lovely El
Salvador.
On this booklet are presented 6 of the most exciting and
charming places of the east zone of the country, going
from chilly weather and beautiful landscapes of Alegría
in Usulután, to the warm and colorful beach of El Cuco
en San Miguel.

1. EL CUCO.
El Cuco, which is located at the east side department of
San Miguel, very close from the Fonseca Gulf (that share
El Salvador with Nicaragua and Honduras) is a beautiful
black-sand beach, with gentle swell. It is just a few
hours by car from the international airport.
This area is considered as one of the best beaches areas
in El Salvador, there are around 100 kilometers
including beaches like El Espino, Playas Negras, Las
Tunas and Tamarindo.
El Cuco town is the biggest town in the area, but the
town is very small and quiet, the only activity is the
fishing and a very quiet tourism, most of it during the
weekends.
Here, the visitor finds excellent tourist services, such as
hotels and diners that offer traditional seafood dishes.
El Salvador is making its presence now in the surfing
world, gaining attention as a nation with a bounty of
waves, this is one of the reasons because of El Cuco
beach is famous.
1. EL CUCO.
El Cuco, ubicado en el oriental departamento de San
Miguel, próximo al Golfo de Fonseca (golfo que es
compartido en territorio entre El Salvador, Nicaragua y
Honduras) es una hermosa playa de arena oscura y
suave oleaje, localizado solo a un par de horas en
vehículo desde el aeropuerto internacional de El
Salvador.
Esta zona costera es considerada como una con las
mejores playas en todo El Salvador, comprendiendo una
extensión de alrededor de 100 km incluyendo playas
como El Espino, Playas Negras, Las Tunas y El
Tamarindo.
La ciudad de El Cuco es el poblado más grande en toda
el área costera anteriormente mencionada, sin embargo
este es un pueblo modesto y tranquilo, cuya principal
actividad económica es la pesca y el turismo de
intensidad moderada, dándose principalmente durante
los fines de semana.
En este sitio, los visitantes pueden encontrar un muy
buen y desarrollado servicio turístico, como lo son,
Buenos hoteles y restaurantes cuya especialidad son los
mariscos.
Aparte de ello cabe mencionar que El Salvador está
haciéndose un nombre dentro del mundo del surf,
llamando la atención como una de las naciones con muy
buen oleaje, es esta otra de las razones por las cuales la
playa El Cuco es famosa.

HOW TO GET THERE?
From San Salvador, drive to the East on the Carretera El
Litoral (CA-2) past the Airport and Usulután until you
get to the circle in El Delirio. Stay to your right and
follow the sign to La Unión – El Cuco until you see the
sign to turn off for Playa El Cuco.
From San Miguel, take the Carretera El Litoral (CA-2),
heading south toward El Delirio.
From La Union, take the Carretera El Litoral, heading
north and turn off at either Intipucá or Playa El Cuco.
¿CÓMO LLEGAR?
Viniendo desde San Salvador, diríjase al oriente
tomando la Carretera El Litoral (CA-2) pasando por el
Aeropuerto y Usulután hasta llegar al desvío
(circunvalación) El Delirio, manteniéndose sobre su
carril derecho siguiendo la señal “hacia La Unión – El
Cuco” siga la carretera hasta llegar a la siguiente señal y
tomar la salida hacia El Cuco.
Desde San Miguel, tome la Carretera El Litoral (CA-2)
conduciendo hacia el sur, dirigiéndose al desvío El
Delirio.
Desde La Unión, tome la carretera litoral, conduzca
hacia el norte y luego tome la salida hacia Intipucá o
playa El Cuco.
WHERE TO SLEEP?
One of the classic hotel in this area is Tropiclub, this
hotel offers a great service for families looking for small
suits with private bathroom and air conditioner.
Tortuga Verde hotel is very popular for international
travelers looking for a comfortable room and best rate.
It offers a natural basic environment, with healthy
meals right on the sand.
¿DÓNDE HOSPEDARSE?
Uno de los mejores hoteles en esta zona es Tropiclub ,
el cual brinda un excelente servicio especialmente a
familias que estén en busca de habitaciones pequeñas
con baño privado y sistema de aire acondicionado.
El hotel llamado “La Tortuga verde” es de los preferidos
por turistas extranjeros, quienes siempre están en
busca de cómodas habitaciones y la mejor tarifa. El
hotel ofrece un ambiente natural en su diseño y
también ofrece en su menú deliciosos platillos
saludables que pueden ser servidos justo en la playa.

WHERE TO EAT?
Most hotel and surf lodges will have a private
restaurant, but it’s a pricey option. If your
accommodation does have a kitchen, it’s best to buy
groceries in San Miguel, because the stores in El Cuco
are limited. Hit up an ATM in San Miguel before you
come down as well. There are no ATMs in El Cuco and
you’ll have to head back to Chirilagua to take out
money. In the center, cheap comedors and pupuserias
are available, but enduring the long, scorching walk into
town isn’t fun.
2. LAS FLORES.
Las Flores, is a surfer’s piece of Heaven on Earth, totally
different from La Libertad. It is located in an impressive
jungle were you will find the most beautiful beach
breaks and a lot of right point breaks, two of them
qualified as World Class Waves, only accessed by boat.
Las Flores Beach is excellent for going surfing.
International tournaments also take place here. Las
Flores, is a small beach village filled with friendly
people, whose main activity is the fishing, therefore you
will be able to watch their craft boats waiting on the
shore for you to take a tour on them.
In Las Flores, you'll enjoy one of the best waves of El
Salvador. Las Flores right point break it is a long,
consistent, fun wave with a sand bottom and tubular
sections. Being in Las Flores, the main activity is surfing,
and one of the activities is to take a boat and surf Punta
Mango point break the most tubular wave in the
country.
¿DÓNDE COMER?
La mayoría de hoteles y hostales para surfistas cuentan
con restaurante propio, pero esa es una opción un poco
más cara. Si tu habitación cuenta con una cocina, es
mucho mejor pasar comprando víveres por San Miguel,
ya que las tiendas en El Cuco son escasas y no están tan
surtidas. Además, no olvides pasar por el cajero en San
Miguel también. No existen cajeros en El Cuco por lo
que tendrías que regresar a Chirilagua para sacar
dinero. En el centro del pueblo, podrás encontrar
comedores económicos y pupuserías, pero atravesar el
pueblo, caminando bajo el abrasante sol no será tan
placentero.
2. LAS FLORES.
Las Flores, es considerada un pedazo de cielo en la
tierra para los surfistas, totalmente distinta a las playas
de La Libertad. Se ubica en una zona verde con
abundante vegetación, donde podrás encontrar las mas
impresionantes zonas con oleaje bravo y muchos
puntos perfectos para deslizarse sobre las olas , dos de
ellos considerados como zonas con olas de clase
mundial, a las cuales solo es posible llegar en bote.La
playa Las Flores es un excelente lugar para practicar el
surf. De hecho, torneos de surf internacionales son
celebrados ahí. Las Flores, está en una pequeña
comunidad donde vive gente muy amigable, cuya
principal actividad económica es la pesca, por lo tanto
podrás observar sus lanchas a la orilla de la playa a la
espera de clientes que quieran dar un paseo alrededor
de la costa.En Las Flores, podrás disfrutar de uno de los
mejores oleajes en El Salvador. La principal franja donde
se forma una larga, consistente y divertida ola con
fondo de arena y secciones tubulares. Al estar en Las
Flores, el principal pasatiempo es practicar el surf, y
parte de ello es ir en lancha hacia Punta Mango para
surfear en la franja con las olas más tubulares del país.

Las Tunas is a black sand beach, where rock formations
create small pools where you can enjoy bathing in this
type of natural setting. You will find it in La Unión
department, and it is one of the most visited beaches by
Salvadoran holidaymakers for its black sand and friendly
surf spots.
You'll find a wide selection of fresh seafood offered by
local fishermen such as oysters ($ 7.00 a dozen) and
various types of fish in sun dried bamboo tables priced
from $ 0.50 to $ 1.50 per pound.
3 LAS TUNAS.
Las Tunas es una playa de arena oscura, donde las
formaciones rocosas dan origen a pequeñas piscinas en
las que puedes disfrutar de un agradable baño. Esta
playa se encuentra en el departamento de La Unión, y
es una de las playas más visitadas por los turistas
salvadoreños quienes gustan de su arena oscura y
oleaje ideal para practicar deportes acuáticos.

HOW TO GET THERE?
If you are from San Salvador, head to Carretera El Litoral
(CA-2) which leads to the east. After spending Usulután,
you will find the detour El Delirio where you turn
right. Then you will find three deviations: El Cuco, later
the last of Intipucá - Tamarindo where you should turn
right. At the end of this journey you will find Playa Las
Tunas.

Si vienes desde San Salvador (en vehículo), toma la calle
El Litoral (CA-2) la cual te conducirá hacia el oriente.
Luego de pasar por Usulután, encontrarás el desvío

USD. Then you should board the next bus in San Miguel.

4. EL ESPINO.
El Espino beach is a beautiful beach and one of the
longest in El Salvador, spanning over 10 kilometers. This
makes it an ideal spot for beach sports such as soccer,
volley ball, or jogging, and others that require wide
spaces. Its peaceful waters make it ideal for swimming
and fishing. El Espino Beach is formed by a physical
delta, which allows tourists to walk by several meters of
sea without the water reaching their knees.
4 EL ESPINO.
El Espino es una playa hermosa y una de las más
grandes del país, con una extensión de más de 10
kilómetros. Esto la convierte en el lugar ideal para la
práctica de deportes playeros como el futbol, voleibol, o
simplemente trotar por la playa, y también otros que
requieren de un mayor espacio. Sus calmadas aguas la
hacen ideal para nadar y practicar la pesca. La playa El
Espino está formada por un delta físico, lo cual permite
a los turistas caminar mar adentro por varios metros sin

It’s located in beautiful Usulután. El Espino beach has a

from Usulután. Playa El Espino is filled with many
restaurants to choose from. Vendors come along the
shore and sell souvenirs, fresh fruit and don't forget the
watery coconuts. In the early morning, fishermen come
in from sea and sell fresh fish. Playa El Espino is one of
the best beaches in El Salvador, guaranteed.

HOW TO GET THERE?
If you are in a car, exit San Salvador using the motorway
which leads to the National Airport. Follow it to merge
onto the road that leads to El Litoral. Follow this until
you reach the Usulután department. Once there, find
the department head. Arriving to the city, search again
Carretera El Litoral. Out of Usulután, you will travel
approximately 10 km. When you arrive at the detour,
you will lead other 26 kilometers until you reach the
beach El Espino.

autopista que conduce a Comalapa. Siga por ella hasta
incorporarse a la carretera que lleva por El Litoral. Siga

5 PERQUIN.
Perquín was known unofficially as the guerrilla capital
during the conflict; is located in the department of
Morazán. Founded by Lenca tribes, its name means
"path of hot coal". Now, is a peaceful village in the
mountains of Morazán. Visit the Museo de la
Revolución and climb the Cerro de Perquín. Close by
you will find the Rio Sapo where you can take a

Morazán. Fundado por tribus Lencas, su nombre

including the villages of Cacaopera (rich in traditions),
Guatajiagua (black pottery - beautiful and inexpensive),
La Cueva del Espiritu Santo, a cave with petroglyphs
that are over 10,000 years old.
During the first week of August, Perquín celebrates the
Winter Festival in the village of Perquin. There are five
days of local food, cultural presentations, music, folk
dance, dancing, and theater.

Cacaopera (rico en tradiciones), Guatajiagua (donde se
elabora cerámica de color negro - hermosa y barata), La

En la primera semana de Agosto, es celebrado en el
pueblo el Festival de Invierno. Son 5 días en los cuales
puedes degustar comida típica local, exposiciones
culturales, música, bailes folclóricos, y representaciones
teatrales.

The CA7 north of San Miguel to the Honduran border is
in good shape. Bus 332 runs from San Miguel to Perquín
(US$1.50, 2½ hours) several times daily, or you can also
take the more frequent bus 328 to San Francisco Gotera
(US$0.70, 1½ hours) and hop on a pickup the rest of the
way. The last bus back to San Miguel is at 4pm; the last
pickup to San Francisco Gotera leaves at 5:40pm, but
you have to catch the 5pm to make the last bus from
San Francisco Gotera to San Miguel.

coffee is on the house with your meal, as well as refills:
it is 100% organic, hand processed and roasted by hand
over wood coals, so it is well worth trying. Finish off
your meal with cookies or a delicious portion of cake
made with one of Mom´s ole Mennonite recipes. Or try
the homemade ice-cream, especially the raspberry,
which we get freshly picked off the Honduran
mountains out front of the restaurant.

6 ALEGRÍA.
The city of Alegría is located in the department of
Usulután, among hills, coffee farms and imposing
Tecapa Volcano, which gives the city its cool and
pleasant climate. This city is a very interesting tourist
destination because it mixes the natural beauty of its
landscape with the riches of its people. From the streets
you can see simple but beautiful rooftops, decorated
with a wide variety of flowers, of all colors. Most houses
still have the old clay and adobe structures, making the
city a picturesque illustration of the Salvadoran
landscape. We found excellent floral and viewpoints to
admire the beauty of nature.
The highlight of its geography is the Tecapa volcano,
1.594 meter above sea level, whose crater contains the
Laguna de Alegría.
The volcano is located in the Sierra Tecapa - Chinameca.
The climate rounds 21°C in the highest elevations
(header and Laguna de Alegria), with a maximum of
27°C in the month of April, and a minimum of 15°C in
December.
6 ALEGRÍA.
La ciudad de alegría se encuentra en el departamento
de Usulután, en medio de montañas, cafetales y el
imponente Volcán de Tecapa, lo cual brinda a la ciudad
el clima fresco y placentero que le caracteriza. Esta
ciudad es un destino turístico muy importante ya que
mezcla la belleza natural de sus paisajes con la calidez
de sus habitantes. Desde la calle pueden verse sencillos
pero lindos tejados, decorados con una amplia variedad
de flores, de todos los colores. La mayoría de las casas
aun cuentan con su estructura de adobe y barro,
dándole a la ciudad el toque pintoresco del típico
paisaje salvadoreño. Aquí encontraras una linda flora y
excelentes miradores para que puedas apreciar la
hermosura de la naturaleza.
Lo más atractivo de su geografía es el Volcán de Tecapa,
el cual se erige a 1.594 metros sobre el nivel del mar y
en cuyo cráter se encuentra la laguna que lleva el
mismo nombre de la ciudad.
El volcán es parte de la cordillera montañosa llamada
Sierra Tecapa - Chinameca. El clima ronda los 21°C en
las zonas más elevadas (en la cabecera y en la Laguna),
con una máxima de 27°C en el mes de Abril, y una
mínima de 15°C en Diciembre.

deflected of Mercedes Umaña leading towards Alegria;
