Esta obra está dedicada a Samuel y Michael, quienes
nacieron unidos por los hombros. Muy pronto, tras su
nacimiento, fueron separados. Desfigurados, incluso
su familia los marginaba, crecieron sin olvidar nunca
su otra parte, odiando al mundo que los había separado.
La única persona que era capaz de entender a los
gemelos era su abuela. Afectada ya por la edad, ocupó
la mayor parte de su tiempo, cuando su lucidez se lo
permitía, en hacer cosas para los gemelos, tejiendo y
cosiendo ropa cuando podía. Nunca paraba de tejer.
No paró de tejer incluso cuando, en un intento fallido
de volverse a unir, intentaron coserse y murieron desangrados,
debido a su propia locura. Todos nos hemos
sentido alguna vez de esta manera, incompletos, como
si una parte de nuestro cuerpo nos hubiera sido extrañamente
arrebatada.
This work is dedicated to Samuel and Michael, who
were born joined by their shoulders. They were separated
soon after their birth, but were disfigured, and
even their family rejected them. They grew up never
forgetting about their other side, and hating the world
for separating them. The only person who was able
to understand the twins was their grandmother. Although
she was already suffering the ailments of old
age, she spent most of her time, when she was lucid
enough, making things for the twins, knitting, sewing
when she could. She never stopped knitting. She did
not stop even when, in their failed attempt to rejoin,
the twins tried to sew themselves together and bled
to death, because of their own madness. At one time
or another, we have all felt this way, incomplete, as if a
part of our body had been strangely taken from us.
Leticia Horvath Rita. De nacionalidad húngara, a edad muy
temprana se trasladó a Rusia, donde ingresó en la Escuela Internacional
de Moscú. Abandonó Moscú tras su graduación
para estudiar Diseño de Moda en Madrid. Pensé que esto es lo
que debía hacer mientras pensaba realmente en lo que quería
hacer con mi vida. Esto fue antes de que descubriera mi fascinación
por las posibilidades que la ropa y el vestido podían
ofrecer. Me di cuenta de la gran versatilidad de una simple pieza
de hilo o lana.
Leticia Horvath Rita. Hungarian by nationality, I moved to
Russia at a very early age. Being trilingual was inevitable especially
after attending an International School in Moscow. After
graduating I left Moscow to study fashion design in Madrid.
This I always considered as a something to do while I figure out
what I want to do with myself. That is of course until I discovered
my fascination in the possibilities of cloth and clothing.
The simplicity of a piece of thread or wool caught my attention
because something so simple can have so many outcomes.
