Situado en pleno corazón del Realejo, este palacio nazari del siglo XIII es anterior a los de la Alhambra,
construido durante el sultanato de Muhammad II dentro de la almunia real de la «Almanjarra».
Pudo utilizarse como residencia temporal del monarca mientras la Alhambra se conformaba
como ciudad palatina de la corona nazarí. Los Reyes Católicos cedieron todo el complejo a la
Orden Dominica para crear el Convento de Santa Cruz la Real, denominándose desde entonces
Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo. Sus magníficas instalaciones y jardines permiten la celebración
de múltiples eventos culturales.
CUARTO REAL DE SANTO DOMINGO
It is located in the heart of the Realejo district. This palace nazarí of the 13th century is previous to those
of the Alhambra, built during the sultanate of Muhammad II inside of the royal estate of the “Almanjarra”.
It could be in use as temporary residence of the king before the construction of the Alhambra as the
palace city of the Nasrid Kingdom. The Catholic Monarchs handed the complex to the Dominican Order
in order to establish the Convent of Santa Cruz la Real, since then designated as Cuarto Real de Santo
Domingo. Its magnificent facilities and gardens host many cultural events.
