2040: Ciudad diseñada para la vida
Quito 2040: A city designed for life
El Pabellón de Quito es un cubo gigante con los rostros
de quiteños de todo color y condición social, sin ropa ni
distintivos. En esas imágenes vemos que la diversidad es
preciosa y es un territorio continuo y no una frontera. Esta
exposición es una afirmación de que la política pública de
la ciudad tiene que girar en torno a sus ciudadanos. Dentro
del cubo nos encontramos con cuatro pantallas gigantes
que hablan de la visión de Quito para el año 2040.
¿Qué ciudad imaginamos? Esa es la pregunta que
planteamos a cientos de expertos. El Pabellón de Quito
para Hábitat III propone la necesidad de construir unos
objetivos de desarrollo consensuados que nos guíen
hacia ese futuro.
Se establecieron cuatro grandes ejes: una ciudad diseñada
para la vida, una ciudad ambientalmente responsable, una
ciudad solidaria y una ciudad global. Y nos propusimos cuatro
grandes metas que se entrecruzan con los ejes: una ciudad
para los ciudadanos, una ciudad verde, una ciudad para el
peatón y una ciudad con movilidad eficiente.
The Quito Pavilion is a giant cube showing the faces
of Quiteños of every color and social status, stripped of
adornments. In these images we see that diversity is beautiful
and that it is a continuous territory, not a border. This
exhibition is an affirmation that municipal public policy must
revolve around the city’s residents. Inside the cube we find
four giant screens that speak to the vision of Quito 2040.
What do we imagine for the city? That is the question
posed to hundreds of experts. The Quito Pavilion at
Habitat III asserts the need to build consensus around the
development objectives that will guide us into the future.
The 2040 goals emerge from a framework of four
main themes—a city designed for life, an environmentally
responsible city, a unified and inclusive city, and a global and
competitive city—intersecting with four approaches—a
green city, a compact city, a walkable city, and a city with
efficient mobility.
