Carta a la editorial Por Neil Waters. Fundador Del Grupo de Concienciación del Tigre de Tasmania en Australia Dear Roberto, Thank you for your patience with my late reply. Things have been very busy to say the least. I am writing to you very excited about the developments in the last 6 weeks since we released our first video, and I opened up the Facebook group to the public. You see initially, I had the group as a closed group and we only had 300 members. At first, it was called The Thylacine Awareness Group Of South Australia but when we decided to release our video and go global, I changed the name to The Thylacine Awareness Group Of Australia to include all the other parts of Australia where the Thylacines have been seen for the past 200+ years of white colonial settlement in Australia. And now we have nearly 3000 members. Initially I created the group because I didn’t think people had any idea much about the Thylacines presence on the Mainland and I wanted to raise awareness to try and get some public and hopefully Govt . support to find and then protect the animals. Recently I have received more than 20 extra South Australian sightings and they keep coming in and I am seeing some very distinct patterns in the areas that they occur. The sightings evidence is overwhelming when there are 4 people in daylight less than 10 feet from an animal and observe it for a minute or more. They can not possibly all be seeing mangy foxes..... We now are in possession of over 45 South Australian sightings and there are about 60 or more that a less than 60 minutes from Adelaide. So, the evidence is there to be analysed and the areas mapped out to see the sightings patterns occur. The family who filmed out 1st video have chosen to avoid the media but the lady who filmed our 2nd video completed an interview with channel 7 yesterday and they are interviewing me tomorrow about it as well so we are still getting good press coverage. 2
The location of our first video, also had 4 witnesses to an animal in daylight from the same moment a year earlier and the neighbour even came out to witness the animal as it ran up the street. Then almost a year later the son in the family got the video footage with his mobile phone and hey presto..... I am also chasing up a lead with a family that has two Thylacine pelts from the 1950’s that were apparently shot by the father in the south east of South Australia. Stay tuned for more news on this........ I think the evidence was enough from the Mundrabilla cave specimen in 1964 but the Govt at the time was too scared to prove it. I think the carbon dating test was flawed and if they retested the animal again today it would give a different reading that would represent less than 100 years, probably only 52 years..... The dingo was apparently a lot more decomposed than the Thylacine in the cave and it was less than a year old which begs the question, how could that Thylacine be 3000 years old then.....? Science doesn’t like to be told they got it wrong but in ‘Ol Stripey’s case, they aren’t gonna have a choice now are they. So from here on things are just going to get busier and busier for the rest of the year. I have several hotspots I know they venture into throughout the year now so I have to intensify my search and try and get one step ahead of these beastie’s and get some clear footage of them as they move through their territory....
