FORMAMOS ESTUDIANTES CAPACES DE CRECER EN LA INTERCULTURALIDAD. Sr. Carlos Ignacio Figueria Ahumada Principal AIS We have completed thirteen years providing and offering, as an international school, a bilingual education program of excellence, satisfactorily fulfilling each of the goals which we have set. I will not detail in length each achievement that AIS has reached in these years, but I will conclude in what it means for our community. Our journey since 2003 includes many milestones that we treasure as part of our history and allows us the perspective to look hopefully into the future. To achieve educational excellence we have surpassed our expectations and efforts and have been rewarded in the culmination of integral, ethical, multidimensional and humanist students. In fulfilling this mission we have highlighted the essential aspects. Firstly, the delivery of a bilingual educational program that completely stimulates and shapes our students through personal experiences. Secondly, we take into account a professional teaching staff of foreign and national teachers of the highest academic level and qualifications; educators capable of embodying their vocational experience in pedagogy. This has allowed us to develop confident students who are able to face, in a positive manner, the technological, cultural, social changes and challenges that are evident in today’s world. Being part of Antofagasta International School creates a distinctive character. The combination of Chilean and foreign teachers and the International Baccalaureate, add value to what we do in the classroom. The end result is a student who is able to face the ever-changing world with confidence and the skills and desire to continually grow with it. In conclusion, we are preparing conscious leaders who will become the agents of local and international changes. This is our calling: to empower our required to become confident and active members of our society and the world. Hemos cumplido trece años aportando y entregando como colegio internacional una educación bilingüe de excelencia, cumpliendo satisfactoriamente cada una de las metas que nos hemos impuesto. No enumeraré in extenso todos los logros que el AIS ha conseguido en estos años, más bien me detendré en lo que significa para nuestra comunidad el camino recorrido , sin olvidar, por cierto los hitos que desde 2003 hemos ido atesorando como parte de una común historia de éxitos y de mirada con perspectiva de futuro. En razón de nuestro ideario hemos volcado nuestros mejores esfuerzos en la implementación de todas las exigencias que nos permitan lograr la excelencia educacional, todo ello desde una perspectiva humanista, laica, integradora y multidimensional de nuestros alumnos. En el cumplimiento de esa misión destacamos dos aspectos esenciales: la entrega de un programa educativo bilingüe, completo y estimulante, que forma e instruye a nuestros estudiantes a través de sus propias experiencias y de manera paralela contar con un staff de profesionales docentes extranjeros y nacionales del más alto nivel académico e idiomático, capaces de encarnar su vocación magisterial en una gestión pedagógica plenamente humana vinculada con los verdaderos ideales del mundo vertiginoso y globalizado que estamos mandados a compartir, esto nos ha permitido formar estudiantes capaces de enfrentar, de manera positiva, los cambios y desafíos tecnológicos, culturales y sociales que se visualizan día a día en un mundo de hoy. Ser parte del Antofagasta International School, imprime un carácter diferencial, otorga un valor agregado a lo que hacemos en las salas de clases con estudiantes Chilenos y extranjeros inmersos en el mundo del Bachillerato Internacional y más allá de ellas, caracteriza un tipo de egresado y lo configura con un perfil de estudiante que da cuenta de un ser humano preparado para un mundo global, en permanente proceso y transformación, de continuo crecimiento y con deseos de superación. Haciendo eco en la misión convocante…preparar líderes conscientes que se conviertan en los agentes de cambios locales e internacionales. a eso estamos llamados. a eso y a apoyar todas y cada una de las acciones tendientes a lograr esos jóvenes indagadores, informados, instruidos, pensadores, buenos, íntegros, comunicadores, de mentalidad abierta, audaces y solidarios, equilibrados y reflexivos que la sociedad y nuestro país necesitan. 2
