CLASS 13: PORTFOLIO

This body of work is a series of self

portraits that focuses on the distortion of

self. As a result of manually manipulating

these images, they have become surreal.

There is undertone of agony or internal

torment which has manifested itself

physically. This is apparent in facial

expressions, pulling body parts, through

repetition, and exaggerated blurs which

elongate an action.

In this photo I have successfully applied

my portfolio theme of distortion by

blurring the image with a scanner.

To create this image I used a DSLR camera

using artificial light, a printer, and a scanner set

at 300ppi.

When scanning the image I let the image sit

where my face was then followed the scan for

the later portion.

Color adjustments were made in Lightroom

before the scan with the printed image and

again after the scan. The image has been

retouched in Photoshop to edit out my hand

imprint that was captured by the scanner.

Using three separate printed photos I

created a combined image enforcing

feelings of torment and craze.

To create this image I used a DSLR camera

using artificial light, a printer, and a scanner set

at 300ppi.

To scan these photos I perfectly timed the scan

to position each photo one at a time in order to

create this layered effect.

Color adjustments were made in Lightroom

before the scan with the printed image and

again after the scan. The image has been

imprint that was captured by the scanner

Here, the image shows three faces or

rather the transformation of one face to

another.

To create this image I used a DSLR camera

using artificial light, a printer, and a scanner set

at 300ppi.

When scanning the image I let the image sit

where my face was then followed the scan

while rotating the image quickly then stopping.

Color adjustments were made in Lightroom

before the scan with the printed image and

again after the scan. The image has been

retouched in Photoshop to edit out my hand

imprint that was captured by the scanner.

Rather than blurring the image, I wanted

to enhance the feeling of frenzy by

repeating myself gnawing at my own

hand with brows furrowed.

To create this image I used a DSLR camera

using artificial light, a printer, and a scanner set

at 300ppi.

To scan this photo I quickly dragged the same

photo to three different positions on the

scanner bed.

Color adjustments were made in Lightroom

before the scan with the printed image and

again after the scan. The image has been

retouched in Photoshop to edit out my hand

imprint that was captured by the scanner.

In this portrait I am visibly in anguish.

Instead of distorting my expression, I

repeat this image twice creating a wall of

myself in the process.

To create this image I used a DSLR camera

using artificial light, a printer, and a scanner set

at 300ppi.

To scan this photo I quickly dragged the same

twice on the scanner bed but this time allowing

the scanner to capture the full image.

Color adjustments were made in Lightroom

before the scan with the printed image and

again after the scan. The image has been

retouched in Photoshop to edit out my hand

imprint that was captured by the scanner.

Not only do I focus on stretching my

mouth and finger, but I create waves to

bring focus on my teeth.
