HISTORIA Y CULTURA
La Ruta del Vino de Rueda, circunscrita a la Denominación de Origen Rueda,
se ubica en pleno corazón de Castilla, extendiéndose a lo largo y ancho del
margen izquierdo del río Duero.
Abarca parte de las provincias de Valladolid y Ávila, colindando con Segovia,
y actualmente está integrada por 13 municipios que ofrecen una clara
muestra de la riqueza turística e histórica de esta región vitivinícola por
excelencia. Las condiciones climáticas y las características orográficas de
sus suelos convierten a esta zona en privilegiada para el cultivo de la vid,
especialmente la uva autóctona
Verdejo, y confiere a sus vinos de
una personalidad única con
características inimitables.
Sus orígenes vitivinícolas se
remontan al siglo XI y, desde
entonces hasta hoy, el cuidado de la
vid y la elaboración de vino han
dotado a esta tierra de una cultura y
tradición que se ve reflejada en
todos los aspectos de su
personalidad, desde sus gentes a
sus manifestaciones artísticas, sin
olvidar, por supuesto, la
gastronomía, que adquiere un papel
protagonista.
Se trata de un viaje imprescindible
para todos aquellos que deseen
conocer nuevas sensaciones,
siempre con el vino y su entorno
como protagonistas.
HISTORY AND CULTURE
Rueda Wine Route -within Rueda Designation of Origin- is located in the heart
of Castilla y León, and it is extended across the left bank of the Duero River.
This route includes mainly part of the province of Valladolid and also a little
part of Ávila and Segovia, and currently consists of 13 towns which offer an
obvious proof of tourism and historic wealth of this viticulture region par
excellence. The particular weather conditions and the orographical
characteristics of its “terroir” make this area more than favorable for
winecultivation –specially for the native grape called “Verdejo”-, and give an
unique and inimitable
personality to all its wines.
Its viticulture origins date from
the 11th century, and from
then until now, grapevine care
and wine producing have
provided a culture and a
tradition to this area. Both are
reflected in all the aspects of
its personality, from its people
to its artistic manifestations,
without
forgetting
gastronomy, which also plays
an important role.
It is an essential travel for
those people who want to
explore new emotions, always
focused on wine and its
environment.

EL VINO
El paisaje castellano, caracterizado por sus verdes campos y
pinares, se transforma en la Ruta del Vino de Rueda, cediendo
protagonismo a los viñedos ligados a la Denominación de Origen
Rueda.
Tras años de trabajo por el cuidado y protección de la uva
Verdejo, la DO Rueda toma forma como tal en 1980, siendo la
primera Denominación de Origen de Castilla y León en recibir
este reconocimiento. Desde entonces los vinos blancos de
Rueda han obtenido una importante fama internacional, con un
carácter único.
Tradicionalmente se han elaborado vinos jóvenes, diferenciados
por su peculiar color amarillo verdoso y sus aromas y paladar
fresco, afrutado y elegante. Sin embargo, en los últimos años,
algunas bodegas han apostado por la fermentación en barrica,
presentando caldos de gran calidad y amplias sensaciones, y los
vinos espumosos.
Aunque la variedad Verdejo es la autóctona, en la DO Rueda
podemos encontrar vinos blancos elaborados con otras
variedades, como Sauvignon Blanc, Viura o Palomino Fino y,
desde el año 2008, variedades que permiten elaborar vinos tintos
y rosados.
THE WINE
The landscapes of Castilla y León which are characterized by their green fields and pine woods, become Rueda Wine Route, and give priority to vineyards linked
to the Designation of Origin Rueda.
After years working hardly for the care and the protection of the Verdejo grape, the D.O. Rueda was founded in 1980, being the first Designation of Origin of
Castilla y León to receive this recognition. Since them, white wines of Rueda have obtained a significant and unique international fame.
Young wines have traditionally been made. These are differentiated by their peculiar greenish yellow color and their fruit, elegant and fresh aroma and flavour.
However, in the recent years, some wineries have backed the barrel fermentation, -which provides with premium wines and intense sensations-, and sparkling
wines.
Although Verdejo is the native variety, in the D.O. Rueda we can find other varieties of white wines, such as the Sauvignon Blanc, Viura or Palomino Fino and
since 2008, varieties which allow producing red and rosé wines.

hand traditional wineries, characterized by their underground galleries. These
galleries, are still intact since the Middle Ages. On the other hand there are
modern wineries at the front line of innovation and development, offering a tour
through the wine culture from antique times to our present days.

GASTRONOMÍA
La cocina de nuestras abuelas, elaborada con tanto
mimo y cariño, llega hasta nuestros días con un aire
renovado. La innovación se une a la tradición para
sacar el máximo partido a unas materias primas de
primera calidad. No dejes de probar el lechazo asado
con Indicación Geográfica Protegida (IGP) o el
cochinillo –ambos asados en horno de leña-, las
lentejas de La Armuña, los garbanzos de Fuentesaúco,
o las setas y hongos que nos regala el otoño.
Te invitamos a degustar la selección de quesos
elaborados a partir de leche de vaca, las cuajadas o el
requesón, tan naturales como sabrosos. La repostería
tradicional endulzará tu camino.
Tras años de trabajo por el cuidado y protección de la
uva Verdejo, la DO Rueda toma forma como tal en
1980, siendo la primera Denominación de Origen de

Taste the roast lamb with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) or the sucking pig, both roast in
wood stove, the lentils of La Armuña, the chickpeas of Fuentesaúco or the mushrooms and fungi
which Autumn rewarded us.
You are invited to taste the selected natural and tasty cheeses made using cow’s milk, the curds and
the cottage cheeses. Traditional pastry will sweet your journey.

Enjoy with the celebrations of all the different
places that are part of Rueda Wine Route. In
addition, some key dates that you cannot miss
are: the Wine Harvest Festivities of Rueda, La
Seca or Serrada, Medieval Market of Tordesillas,

Cómo llegar
<
La autovía A-6 y A-62 atraviesan la D.O Rueda, y sus principales
municipios, Tordesillas y Medina del Campo, uniéndola con gran parte
de las Comunidades de la Península, y a nivel internacional con Francia
y Portugal. Además, existen varias carreteras nacionales (N-601, N-
122), varias carreteras autonómicas (CL-602, CL-601, CL-605) y una
amplia red de carreteras provinciales y locales (VA-404, VA/ZA-602,
AV/VA/SG-303, entre otras) enlazando con un gran número de
municipios.
Por otro lado, la ruta dispone de una amplia red de transporte
ferroviario. En Medina del Campo se encuentra una de las principales
estaciones. Además, dispone de varias líneas de AVE desde Valladolid,
a menos de una hora de distancia. Y de varias líneas de autobús desde
las principales localidades.
La Ruta del Vino de Rueda también se encuentra bien comunicada por
transporte aéreo, nacionalmente mediante el aeropuerto de Villanubla
en Valladolid, a tan sólo 20 minutos; e internacionalmente con el
aeropuerto de Barajas, a poco más de una hora.

How to get there
The A-6 and A-62 cross the D.O. Rueda, and its main towns, Tordesillas and Medina del Campo,
connecting perfectly with the rest of Spain, and also with France and Portugal. In addition, there are
several national, regional, provincial and local roads, linking to a large number of towns.
Moreover, Rueda Wine Route has a wide network of railways. Medina del Campo has got one of the
main stations. It also has several lines of AVE from Valladolid, less than an hour away.
Rueda Wine Route is also well connected by the air, nationally with Villanubla airport in Valladolid,
just in 20 minutes, and internationally with Barajas airport, just over an hour.

ACTIVIDADES
Más de cien formas de sumergirse en la cultura del vino. Las
Rutas del Vino y Brandy del Marco de Jerez le ofrecen la
oportunidad de sumergirse en la rica cultura del jerez, en el
territorio formado por los municipios de: Chiclana, Chipiona, El
Puerto de Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto Real, Rota,
Sanlúcar de Barrameda y Trebujena, con el vino y brandy de
Jerez como elemento conductor.
Desde las localidades de la costa hasta las ubicadas más en
el interior, se abre todo un abanico de caracteres, estilos
arquitectónicos, tipos de gastronomía, paisajes urbanos y
naturales, en un marco geográfico donde todo está muy
cerca.
De esta forma es posible pasar desde las playas de arenas
blancas hasta la campiña de Jerez, pasando por las
marismas del Guadalquivir en Trebujena y la Sierra de Cádiz,

El Marco de Jerez cuenta con un
emplazamiento estratégico y excelentes
conexiones con el resto de Andalucía, España
y Europa.
Los aeropuertos internacionales de Jerez,
Sevilla, Málaga y Gibraltar, el transporte
marítimo, así como una magnífica red viaria,
permiten enlazar cómodamente con los
principales destinos nacionales e
internacionales.
Las estaciones de tren del Marco de Jerez se
ubican en Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de
Santa María y Puerto Real.
Una vez en la región, desplazarse entre las
localidades del Marco de Jerez, desde las que
se encuentran en la costa, hasta las ubicadas
en el interior, ocupa escasos minutos.

There are more than a hundred ways to become familiar with the
culture of wine. The Marco de Jerez Wine and Brandy Routes give
you the opportunity of an in-depth approach to the rich culture of
sherry in the municipalities of: Chiclana, Chipiona, El Puerto de
Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto Real, Rota, Sanlúcar de
Barrameda and Trebujena, with the wine and brandy of Jerez as
the point of reference.
From coastal locations to more inland settings there is a huge
range of characters, architectural styles, types of cuisine and
urban and natural landscapes, all within a limited geographical
area that makes everything easy to get to.
One moment you can be on the beaches with their white sand

How to get there
The Sherry Triangle has a strategic location and excellent connections with the rest of
Andalusia, Spain and Europe.
There are international airports of Jerez, Seville, Málaga and Gibraltar and marine transport,
as well as a magnificent road network, so you can comfortably link up with all the main
Spanish and international destinations.
The main railway stations in Marco de Jerez are at Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa
María and Puerto Real.
Once you arrive in the region you can get from Marco de Jerez to coastal locations and the
interior in just a few minutes.

El Bierzo ofrece una amplia oferta enoturística: visitas

de caldos y productos autóctonos… También te espera

destaca el famoso Camino de Santiago.
Tampoco puedes perderte la Mirada Circular, una

Cómo llegar
La comarca de El Bierzo está situada al noroeste de la provincia de León.
La autovía A-6 atraviesa El Bierzo de este a oeste, conectando Madrid y Galicia. Además,
existen conexiones ferroviarias diarias con las ciudades gallegas más importantes, así
como con Barcelona, Irún, Madrid y León.
Por otra parte, el aeropuerto de León tiene conexiones diarias con Madrid y Barcelona. Más
alejados, el de Valladolid, Asturias y el aeropuerto internacional de Lavacolla, en Santiago de
Compostela, a menos de 250 km de Ponferrada, permiten enlazar cómodamente con los
principales destinos nacionales e internacionales

tourism activities
El Bierzo is a great area for wine tourism: guided visits to wineries and
vineyards, tasting courses, sampling of local wines and produce etc.
There is also an immense cultural and natural heritage, including the
world famous Way of Saint James.
But once here, you should try not to miss the innovative Mirada
Circular walk, an initiative of intelligent and sustainable tourism so
typical of El Bierzo, with a total of 330 km spread over 15 different path
walking routes.
How to get there
The El Bierzo region is located in the northwest
of the province of León.
The A-6 dual carriageway crosses El Bierzo
from east to west, the main Madrid to Galicia
route. There are also daily railway
connections with all the main Galician cities,
and others to Barcelona, Irún, Madrid and
León.
León Airport has daily flights to Madrid and
Barcelona. Further away, Valladolid, Asturias
airports and Lavacolla international airport in
Santiago de Compostela, less than 250 km
from Ponferrada, provide access to major
national and international destinations.

XXVIII Fiesta de la Cereza y
XXI Encuentro Medieval
Del 09/07/2016 al 10/07/2016
El casco histórico de Covarrubias acoge la XXVIII Fiesta y Mercado de la
Cereza, el mercado medieval más antiguo de la provincia de Burgos y uno
de los más antiguos de España. Se trata de un mercado de artesanía que
se celebra en la Villa rachela para festejar su tradicional fiesta de la
cereza.
Durante un fin de semana Covarrubias regresa a la Edad Media y vuelve a
dar vida a los personajes más ilustres de la Villa, donde damas y
caballeros pasean por este marco inigualable en busca del producto más
preciado del mercado: las cerezas.
Festival de Teatro Clásico de Olite
Del 15/07/2016 al 31/07/2016
Los muros del Palacio de Olite sirven de telón de fondo para las
mejores obras del Siglo de Oro.
Desde sus inicios, el Festival de Teatro Clásico de Olite ha optado por
un programa variado y atractivo para todos los públicos, con obras de
calidad, que además potencien la singularidad del escenario en el que
se realizan. El festival ofrece dos producciones, una de ellas tiene
lugar en La Cava, que con una ca pacidad de 700 espectadores, se
reserva para las grandes producciones, mientras que el marco del
mágico Claustro de San Pedro se adapta a aquellas producciones de
menor escala, que por su naturaleza necesitan que el público se sitúe
más cerca del escenario.

Clasic Theater Festival at Olite
From 15/07/2016 to 31/07/2016
The walls of the Castle-Palace of Olite serve as a fabulous backdrop for
plays by the best dramatists of all time. Since it began, the Olite Festival of
Classical Theatre has opted for a programme of a general nature,
accessible to a wide audience that looks for quality and faithful
representation but, at the same time, appreciates the singularity of the
castle setting. The Festival stages two open air productions. One venue is
La Cava (The Cellar), reserved for major productions, with a capacity for
some 700 spectators and the magically quiet Claustro de San Pedro (St
Peter's Cloister), intended for smaller scale works or those that, by their
very nature, need the audience to be close to the stage.
XXVIII Cherry Festival
and XXI Medieval Fair
From 15/07/2016 al 31/07/2016
The old town of Covarrubias helds the XXVII edition of the Cherry festival
and flea market, which is the most ancient medieval fair held in the province
of Burgos and one of the oldest of Spain. During those days the rachela Villa
enjoys with the cellebration of its trational festival dedicated to cherry that
is held on a craft market.
During one weekend Covarrubias goes back to the Middle Age and brings to
life again some of the most eminent figures from this Villa, while ladies and
gentlemen enjoy walking around this unpaired frame looking for the most
preciated product of the market: cherries.

Una auténtica bodega natural
A veritable “natural winery”

Bullas, un rico patrimonio relacionado

HISTORIA Y CULTURA
Desde épocas muy remotas, las tierras de Bullas han mostrado una especial
dedicación por la vitivinicultura, como demuestra el hallazgo de la escultura
del Niño de las Uvas en la villa romana de Los Cantos o la abundante
documentación conservada al respecto. Solo en su casco urbano se
conservan total o parcialmente más de 200 bodegas tradicionales, la
mayoría de ellas construidas en los siglos XVIII y XIX.
La Ruta del Vino de Bullas te ofrece conocer su amplia riqueza cultural
asociada al vino, que ha influido en el entorno, patrimonio y personalidad de
la localidad, favoreciendo el respeto de sus valores históricos y ayudando a
consolidar un modelo de desarrollo sostenible en la zona.

PATRIMONIO
El Museo del Vino es el principal punto de referencia. Instalado sobre una
antigua bodega tradicional de grandes dimensiones, cuenta con 2
plantas: la de los antiguos jaraíces y la bodega, en la que destacan las
bóvedas de crucería perfectamente conservadas.
Por otra parte, el centro histórico de Bullas alberga diversos puntos de
interés, como la plaza de España, donde se sitúan la iglesia parroquial de
Ntra. Sra. del Rosario (siglos XVIII-XIX), la Casa de la Cultura y el
Monumento al Viticultor. La Plaza Vieja y sus alrededores se caracterizan
por sus coloristas fachadas y aún albergan restos de la antigua fortaleza
medieval de Bullas. Tampoco te puedes perder la bodega de la Balsa

415), que une Murcia con Caravaca de la Cruz. Si te desplazas desde
fuera de la Región de Murcia puedes enlazar con esta autovía en
Murcia para llegar fácilmente a Bullas (desde la A-7 si vienes de
Andalucía o Levante, o desde la A-30 si lo haces desde La Mancha).

Bullas, a wealth of heritage related
to the culture of wine-growing
HISTORY AND CULTURE
Since ancient times, the lands of Bullas have been given over to
wine growing, as we can see from the sculpture of the Child with
Grapes in the Roman villa at Los Cantos and the abundant
documentation that has come down to us. In the town centre
alone you can still find the buildings or traces of over 200
traditional wineries, most built in the eighteenth and nineteenth
centuries.
The Wine Route of Bullas lets you explore the wealth of its culture,
with wine as the main influence on the area’s environment,
heritage and personality, encouraging respect for its historic
values and helping consolidate a model of sustainable
development in the area.

HERITAGE
The Museum of Wine is the main point of reference. Installed in
a former traditional winery, this large museum has two floors:
one with the old presses and the winery, one feature of which is
its perfectly preserved ogive vaults.
Apart from that, the historic centre of Bullas has several points
of interest, like the Plaza de España, the square where you will
find the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary (eighteenthnineteenth
centuries), the Arts Centre and the Monument to the
Winegrower. The area around Plaza Vieja square is
characterised by its colourful façades and you can still see the
remains of the ancient mediaeval fortress of Bullas. Another
visit you must not miss is the Bodega de la Balsa (an old
rehabilitated press), the Clock Tower and the House-Museum of
Don Pepe Marsilla which recreates the way of life in the town in
the late nineteenth century.
Lastly, among its natural beauty spots is the emblematic Salto
del Usero on the upper reaches of the River Mula, the Monte
Castellar hill, and the wide sweeps of the vineyards of Valle de
Aceniche and Venta del Pino.

North-West–River Mula dual carriageway (the former
C-415), which runs between Murcia and Caravaca de la
Cruz. If you’re arriving from outside Murcia you can link
up with this dual carriageway at Murcia where you will
easily find the way to Bullas (from the A-7 if you’re
coming from Andalusia or Levante, or from the A-30 if
arriving from La Mancha).
