EduKick Spain Academic Courses Overview
Football + Spanish Language Study
MARAVILLAS PROGRAMAS INTERNACIONALES
Spanish Language Study
EduKick Spain Football & Education Academy affiliate Spanish Language Institute, Maravillas
International Programs is a conveniently located Spanish language school (very near our academy
football training complex), where the EduKick Spain Academy Footballers study 20 hours per week.
Maravillas has over 40 years’ experience teaching international student Spanish in the Costa del Sol and
are accredited by the CERVANTES INSTITUTE. They are an OFFICIAL EXAMINATION CENTER for
the DELE and CCSE exams, meaning that the EduKick Spain student-footballers that attend a long-term
course (6 or 10 months) can work toward a recognized Spanish Language Proficiency Certificate.
Players can take an online placement test in advance of arrival to EduKick Spain, or they simply assess
our players Spanish level in a quick test the first day of class. However, all our student-footballers are
places at the appropriate level and there is no minimum standard required, of course. Most of our
academy player’s choosing the Spanish Language \study option are beginning Spanish speakers.
EduKick Spain has a fantastic relationship with Maravillas, so the players are provided a slightly adapted
schedule to allow them to leave for our mid-day technical football training sessions throughout the
week. In addition to the quality Spanish language instruction, it also serves the academy player’s very
well socially, by providing them a different environment outside the academy football schedule and
resident “Villa Life” where the players reside.
The atmosphere is perfect for our players as they have international students there studying form
around the world. This is EduKick Span’s most popular academic course that most of our student-players
attend. At their morning Spanish language study classes that make friends there form other
international student from around the world and it helps to maximize the overall Spanish language and
culture immersion experience that EduKick believes so very important for our participating studentsoccer
players.
Football + Spanish Secondary
TORREQUEBRADA INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE (CIT)
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
EduKick Spain Football & Education Academy affiliate Spanish School, Colegio Internacional
Torrequebrada (CIT), is a bilingual secular private day school for children from 12 to 18 years old.
Although bilingual, EduKick academy student-footballers interested in attending Torrequebrada MUST
have at minimum an intermediate level of Spanish proficiency. For those secondary students with little
or no ability yet in Spanish language, our affiliated British secondary school at EduKick Spain would be
more appropriate. CIT is a school that has been part of the International Baccalaureate organization
since 2011.
MIDDLE SCHOOL FROM 12 TO 16 YEARS OLD
EduKick Spain does allow players form 12 years old so this academic choice may be appropriate for
some families that have young footballers that already have an intermediate level of Spanish. Since the
school is Spanish, their version of bilingual is slightly slanted on the Spanish side, which is
understandable. It is for this reason we only recommend Torrequebrada for student-players that can
already speak Spanish, although it need not be perfect either. The academic curriculum revolves around
the MYP (Middle Years Programme) of the International Baccalaureate covering the Spanish curriculum
in bilingual mode (English – Spanish).
HIGH SCHOOL FROM 17-18 YEARS OLD
In some cases, at EduKick Spain, we do believe that some 17- and 18-year-old participants, interested in
the= International Baccalaureate and with a decent level of Spanish language proficiency may be
appropriate for this “High School” option at this modern and progressive EduKick affiliate Spanish
school. However, since during the last two years of an EduKick student pursuing an International
Baccalaureate Diploma, again it must be noted that classes are delivered 80% in Spanish and only 20% in
English which could be ideal for families interested in full immersion and possibly having their High
School age footballer attend a Spanish University after completing their education and time with us at
the football academy.
Football + British Secondary School
BENALMADENA INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE (BIC)
EduKick President Joey Bilotta’s met Benalmádena International College founder, Director Keith Ellis in
2020. He was in Benalmádena seeking out appropriate educational partners for the newly relocated
EduKick Spain Football & Education Academy (after nearly 20 years operating EduKick Spain in Madrid).
And the EduKick President knew immediately that Mr. Ellis would be an ideal educational provider
because of his passion of all things education and sport related.
Director Ellis, himself a lifetime sportsman that dedicated himself professionally to the education of
young people, appeared to immediately grasp and respect the concept that is EduKick. So together with
Bilotta’s Spanish Academy Director, they quickly developed a partnership and began the following
academic year to enroll EduKick Spain student-footballers into this picturesque and extremely
welcoming Spanish based British secondary school.
Situated only three hundred meters from the beach, BIC, being a British school, is ideal for many of our
young international academy players as all academic courses are taught in English. Another important
detail for EduKick is that the EduKick BIC students have one class of Spanish every day and can choose
between German and French two times per week.
Bic consists of four buildings: Infants and Primary, Secondary, Cafeteria and Games Room. The college is
well equipped, complete with three Science laboratories, three Information Technology suites, Library
and Sixth Form research area, drama room, and an Art studio. In total, 38 classrooms make up the
Benalmádena International College. EduKick is very pleased and honored to have this affiliation with Mr.
Ellis and his BIC and has already seen firsthand how the school’s commitment to education coupled with
its warm, supportive, and nurturing educational environment has benefited the Edukick Spain young
academy footballers enrolled there.
IGCSE/GCSE Year 10-11
This two-year examination course, set by Edexcel Examination Centre in the UK, is approved by the Joint
Council of British Universities. The students study up to nine subjects in preparation for the award of the
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). The compulsory studies are
Mathematics, English, Spanish, Information Technology, Sports Studies and Science.
Sixth Form / A – Levels
The Benalmádena International College is an academic school and that is what EduKick parents
appreciate. And the BIC examinations are an extremely important part of education. It is at this stage
that important educational decisions must be made by the student especially if they are aiming for
university. Which again, is another point of agreement between BIC and EduKick, sharing similar
philosophies regarding the importance of dedication to one’s education at this critical time in a young
person’s academic progression.
The ‘A’ level subjects offered can open the door to any university around the world. An important
educational starting point for EduKick academy players also using EduKick affiliate BEST ATHLETES
University search software (included for free in the EduKick Spain course tuition). The A-Levels are highly
regarded by universities and of particular interest to many EduKick clients that come from India,
Pakistan, and other places around the world where their football playing children are studying in the
British academic system already.
The subjects offered are ART, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, CLASSICAL STUDIES, COMPUTER SCIENCE,
ECONOMICS, ENGLISH LANGUAGE, ENGLISH LITERATURE, ENGLISH GENERAL (AS Level), FRENCH,
GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY OF ART, HISTORY, IT, MATHS, PHYSICS, POLITICS, PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY,
SPANISH, SPORTS STUDIES and BUSINESS STUDIES
