Best Beaches of Banderas Bay

When you travel around beautiful Banderas Bay in Mexico,

from point to point, north to south, and just outside the

northern tip all the way around to the southern edge, you can

find a wide variety of beaches, each one different and each one

completely gorgeous in its way.

Banderas Bay is connected on the north by Punta Mita, on the

south by Cabo Corrientes and the resort city of Puerto Vallarta

is right in the middle. Along the curvy highway of this Mexican

coastline, you will find some of the most unique and intimate

beaches in Mexico, some small and some large, some quiet and

some loud busy but you are certain to find mother nature's best

work.

There are family beaches, surfing beaches, gay beaches, nude

beaches, and a beach where you can buy fresh pie and shrimp

on a stick –beaches for every taste. With the town of Puerto

Vallarta as your center, a true beach lover can choose a different

stretch of sand each day, find a new slice of local Mexican life

and meet beautiful new people every time.

With the dollar being so strong with the exchange rates, Mexico

continues to be a real bargain and with the beautiful winters in

the Bay area, it is the perfect time for a warm escape. Life is a

beach. Check out just some of the hidden gems around the bay.

Los Muertos Beach, Sayulita

Los Muertos Beach, Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico, this is my favorite

of two "Beaches of the Dead” and I like to think of this beach for

artists & philosophers. It has a large beautiful quiet sandy space,

protected from the larger waves, and surrounded by a

cemetery so there is no vehicle traffic either.

The sand stretches up to the traditional Mexican graveyard,

which is worth a visit all by itself, you can feel the energy over

here. It is the perfect place to put out some chairs, throw down

a blanket, do some meditation and think about the meaning of

life and death. Do not forget refreshments because there is

nowhere to buy anything. This is one of my favorite beaches but

not really in the bay, it is just outside the bay.

Punta Mita Beach

The beaches of Punta Mita are a string of beaches, some with

comfortable sofas and cabanas, a cool beach shack serving

drinks and burgers, a long polite smile, and of course, this beach

has some of the nicest fine white sand in the bay. Lots of

Safety in Puerto Vallarta

I think its safe to say that the biggest danger you could

face vacationing in Puerto Vallarta or any of the towns

to leave. Day or night, walking or being driven, on the bus

or on the streets you will feel safe and happy in Puerto

Vallarta. That’s why year after year Puerto Vallarta is

chosen as one of the safest and best travel destinations in

the world. Safety in Puerto Vallarta is not a worry.

Timing is everything

when it comes to Real Estate in Mexico!

f you have other thought about a vacation home south of the

Iborder, well there has never been a better time to purchase a

vacation property than right now all across Mexico but especially

on the pacific coast in the area of Banderas bay.

The bay starts from the north at Punta de Mita which has been

exploding. If you have not heard of Punta Mita, this is the Beverly

Hills or San Francisco of Mexico with some of the nicest and most

luxurious properties on the planet.

The difference is pricing, where you would spend in California for

an ocean front mansion which would run upwards of 10 to 25

million dollars but here in Mexico, a couple of million USD can buy

you a lot of beachfront luxury.

Punta Mita is one of the most exclusive and expensive areas and

the home to the Four-Seasons hotel. The village is completely

gated and where you will find the most exclusive of properties and

on both sides of the village there are also some incredible

oceanfront and ocean view homes. The area has several world

class golf courses and some incredible mountain and ocean views

from the whole area.

This area is for the executive class and for those that only want

the best and do not paying for it. As you move to the south of

Banderas bay, we have several beautiful communities that all

have been exploding with Americans and Canadians ready to

make a move or create an income stream by renting to

vacationers when they are not using. The further south you go,

the better deals there are, there are thousands of properties

available in every price range. Believe it or not, there are still

properties to purchase as low as $50,000 USD and even cheaper

and go all the way up to 10 to 15 million dollars at the top end.

The towns to the south to look at are La Cruz and Bucerias which

have both been growing over the last 10 years but still have some

good buys and beautiful properties, next we have Nuevo Vallarta

which has some incredible properties and the only area that has

waterfront homes with docks on canals, plus they all have ocean

access. You can find any type of property in Nuevo Vallarta from

exclusive beachfront to a waterfront beauty with space for your 80

foot Azimut.

Of course, Puerto Vallarta has been continually growing yar after

year and rated the best gay travel destination, the safest travel

destination and on top of all the awards, it was one of he only

areas hat stayed open completely during the pandemic. This area

has become the playground for the rich however very conducive

to the regular vacationers and rightfully so, it has incredible

energies and people can feel the love this city provides. It is no

wonder so many are buying their vacation homes in the Banderas

Bay area.

The are to really watch is south of Puerto Vallarta and the many

small beach front areas that are just now being discovered even

beyond the town of Yelapa. It is a town accessible only by boat

however just beyond that town is Chimo and Corralles which will

be very hot areas in the not-too-distant future. I was lucky enough

to fin a hidden gem resort called treasurebythesearesort.com and

was incredible. I fell in love and bought some property during my

visit. Through the entire bay there are little hidden paradises that

very few know about. You must get out and explore, talk to many

people and find the right people to help you or beware. Timing is

right in Banderas Bay to invest in real estate. Take your time but

come down and stay with us on the bay and fall in love.

Yachting on the Bay

The people of Yelapa are so friendly and become family as

soon as you meet them. This is an excellent place to visit

when you charter your boat for the day. There are so many

places to see along the bay. When you charter a yacht

anywhere along the Banderas Bay area, it is sure to make

your vacation even better.

Every year there are hundreds of thousands of visitors to

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco Mexico because of the beauty of

the magnificent area. When you visit, one thing that you

should make sure you do is get out on a private yacht and

explore the beauty that many people that are landlocked

never get a chance to see. On my very first trip to Mexico,

I remember getting up early and getting the first look of

the yacht we decided to take out for the day. This is so

exciting and then getting on the bay first thing in the

morning, there really is nothing like it.

You get to visit spots that only a select few have been and

once you do it once, you will want to return time and time

again. To top off our yacht experience, we were lucky

enough to run into a school of Dorado and managed to

pull in three. Banderas Bay is a world class fishing area and

excellent for all water sports, on the north side you find

the wind and kite surfers, at the edge you find surfing, and

of course the many great diving spots for those dive

enthusiasts.

Banderas Bay has something to offer everyone, and the

sites are beautiful, if your lucky enough to come during

November to March, you might even find yourself face to

face with a humpback whale. So when you visit, be sure

and order yourself a private yacht for the day, because it is

true, Life is better on a yacht.

No matter what your budget is, there is a boat for you. I

have so many fond memories of our first trip, we

snorkeled Los Arcos national park in the morning, then

explored the private beach of Colomitos cove which is a

small private cove to the south of Boca which is the last

town you can get to by car. The beauty is amazing and

mostly private because only available by boat. Our next

stop is Yelapa, we wee picked up by a small water taxi

style boat and took us to shore where we rented horses

and took a journey through this tiny fishing village past

many vendors selling local arts and crafts to the famous

waterfalls of Yelapa. They are fantastic and even has a

small palapa bar to grab a drink or a shot of the world

famous Racailla which is the local moonshine from one of

the local business owners.

Waterfalls in a Garden of Eden

By Neil Gerlowsky

Vast stretches of Puerto Vallarta’s mountains are

cloaked in lush forests teeming with a captivating array

of biodiversity. The abundant rains of our summers keep

these forests miraculously flowing with life-giving water

even through to the ends of prolonged dry seasons

when temperatures climb.

Quite naturally, rivers are alluring features for hikers to

follow, especially once our days grow longer and we

seek refuge from the tropical heat. These veins of the

earth course their way down mountain valleys in

babbling descents among sculpted boulders, and, most

spectacular of all, thunderous plunges from mighty falls.

Considering the vast array of mountain streams and

rivers feeding into the Bay of Banderas, it can be hard to

pick a favorite. But for the adventurous and intrepid, one

particular gem stands out to me as not to be missed,

the upper waterfalls of the Río Edén.

For those starting this journey at the trailhead at the end

of the Peña Blanca dirt road of Las Juntas y Los

Veranos, the hike to the first falls, La Niña, takes an

average of just over two hours to reach so long as you

keep up a good pace and aren’t deterred from the nine

river crossings along the way. This first fall is a drop of

about six meters into a deep pool just beckoning you

for a swim.

Considering the vast array of mountain streams and rivers feeding

For those starting this journey at the trailhead at the end of the

Peña Blanca dirt road of Las Juntas y Los Veranos, the hike to the

first falls, La Niña, takes an average of just over two hours to reach

so long as you keep up a good pace and aren’t deterred from the

nine river crossings along the way. This first fall is a drop of about

six meters into a deep pool just beckoning you for a swim.

From La Niña up to the second falls, La Pinta, the going gets much

steeper, and, unless you have the balance and strength of a billy

goat, climbing there requires the use of your hands in a few places.

La Pinta is roughly thirty meters high and splashes its waters over a

cluster of giant jagged boulders.

Continuing past La Pinta is not for the faint of heart. The ascent is

up steep walls of rock and dirt gullies and the only aids climbers

normally encounter are old abandoned ropes, several of

questionable strength and condition. But for those who persevere,

the reward is a breathtaking natural paradise. Santa María Falls

drops over seventy feet off a sheer cliffside of impressive

proportion. As you wade up to the base of it, gusts of wind push

with increasing force until you feel as if fighting a hurricane, even on

a still day.

If your stamina and courage allow you to continue past this spot,

you may gain the top of the Santa María falls and the base of what

most hikers to this area call their final fall, Cristóbal Colón. Thrusting

forth from under an enormous perched boulder, this fall plunges

about sixty meters into an enormous and deep natural pool. Just

around the corner, you can swim right to the lip of the Santa María

falls and stare down the canyon from a dizzying height. There’s also

a pair of smaller falls nearby from a side stream that meets the

Eden just before the Santa María.

For those who reach this point and still have the time and energy,

it’s possible to ascend the next ridge and gain a vantage high in the

pine trees with a view all the way to the ocean past Mismaloya.

Following the river course upstream from there would allow you to

discover still more falls and cascades, but I personally don’t

recommend such an attempt with just a day hike. For me, exploring

this area is not a matter of rushing by and marking off a checklist of

falls, it’s about stopping long enough to truly enjoy them.

Enhance your health

with the practice of yoga

By Michelle Nava certified yoga teacher, registered teacher

trainee specialized in prenatal yoga. ERYT-200, YACEP, and

PRYT by Yoga Alliance

There is a lot to be said about Puerto Vallarta and

Banderas Bay and rightfully so, most everyone talks

about the best food, the best party spots, and activities, but

something you do not hear people talk about

balance in your life with matter whether

you live you are just visiting for

vacation, you should alw the time

to center and gr yourself and

yoga is a g way to do it.

You may have heard the

word yoga more than

once, maybe you have

taken a class or more,

maybe it is the first time

you hear about this

discipline you read this. Let

me tell you something, it

took me 14 understand how

yoga is every day important to

work on and your spirit.

Let me start by explaining what yoga does to

humans, with the more palpable part of this practice, which is

the physical part. It stretches the muscular system in a way

that you can feel as if your muscles are breathing. It gives

maintenance to your skeletal system by strengthening,

lengthening, and opening space on your spinal cord. Yoga

detoxes your digestive system, giving you the same feeling

as eating healthy more and more as you are building up your

practice. Remember when you do not feel like it, this is the

most important time to commit to having your yoga practice.

There are 12 major benefits but let's talk about only the 3

most important and the benefits that yoga gives to your

body and all things that will make your stay in Banderas Bay

that much better.

Mind

When you commit yourself to a constant practice of yoga,

your mind starts to center itself, not an easy task, but it is

possible with your commitment to be a balanced and

content being, for you and for everyone around you.

more in touch with your emotions, so, the magic starts to

happen as you get in touch with uncomfortable emotions

instead of making them disappear with substances or

distractions outside. When that happens, you are in the path

of self-knowledge and that is pure magic and bliss, believe

me.

Spirit

And last but not the least, what yoga does

to your spirit, it connects you back to

your higher self, to your intuition

and if you are persistent in

your practice, most likely

you will find what your

mission is on this planet

and remember who you

are.

From being a party animal using

drugs in NYC, yoga shaped me from

the inside out and connected me back to

my source of health, energy, love, power, and

contentment. I am infinitely grateful for all that yoga has done

for me. So, during your stay with us in this paradise Banderas

Bay, join in on a local yoga class on the beach or contact us

Transcendental meditation, certified instructor from Banderas Bay

Did you know that everything we see, smell, touch, hear, taste, and the

experience becomes information for our brain to process while sleeping? Let

me clarify. Movies, news, gossip from social media, your favorite playlist, that

new series from a famous streaming source at work, family issues, driving in the

traffic of Puerto Vallarta, even your shopping list or mom´s new cake, all are

information that will keep your mind busy at night. More information means less

time to sleep. Less time sleeping means more stress. More stress leads to

health problems.

According to the WHO these are some causes of stress at work:

Job insecurity

Lack of promotion opportunities

Under or over promoted

Work of low social value

Piece-rate payment schemes

Unclear or unfair performance evaluation systems

Being over or under-skilled for a job

But also emotional pressure causes stress: feelings like anger, sadness,

frustration, happiness, love, loneliness, etc., so stress is physical, emotional, and

psychological such as PTSD or being the victim of domestic violence.

We know how stress affects our health in many different ways. But what we

often don't know, is how to deal with it and more importantly, how to get rid of

it. Many people use therapy, which is great, some others spend hours at the

gym, though few try using yoga – beautiful by the way. But something is

missing because we often still feel tired or anxious. So, we take ourselves on

vacations. Nothing is more relaxing than spending some time on the beach, one

of the huge attractions of Puerto Vallarta. The entire Banderas Bay is a great

place to forget about stress. But let´s be honest. After a few days, stress often

creeps back in.

So it is not just about the place or the activities we do, it´s about getting rest.

When we are sick, doctors often tell us, “Try to get as much rest as you can”.

Getting rest is especially important for releasing stress and strains. As simple as

it sounds, most find it exceedingly difficult. It seems that we forgot how to relax,

rest, and enjoy life, even when in a paradise-like Banderas Bay.

That´s why rest is so important, it allows our mind to vacation every day. And a

simple way to do this is by practicing Meditation. As you know, many people

around the world are practicing this effortless technique. Students, teachers,

doctors, military personnel, artists, and even many celebrities (Paul McCartney,

Clint Eastwood, Katy Perry, Jerry Seinfeld, Tom Hands, Opra Winfrey, Ellen

DeGeneres, and some others)

Here is what some of them say about it:

“I have been a meditator for years, but recently learned TM. It has been a

game-changer for me... Overall, I am more balanced and at ease.” Peg Samuel

Founder of Social Diva Media

“Transcendental Meditation? Love it!” Tom Brady

“I'm trying to listen deeply, and the beginner's mind is informing me to step

back so that I can create what wants to be, not what was,” Marc Benioff

"I started Transcendental meditation in 1973 and have not missed a single

meditation ever since. Twice a day, every day. It has given me effortless access

to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity, and happiness deep within. This level

of life is something called ´pure consciousness´- it is a treasury. And this level

of life is deep within us all". David Lynch

People from Banderas Bay are learning it too. With incredible benefits. But

what is this TM about?

Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced 20

minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed.

The TM technique allows your active mind to easily settle inward, through

quieter levels of thought, until you experience the most silent and peaceful level

of your awareness — pure consciousness.

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

The TM technique is so easy and enjoyable that anyone

can do it, even children with ADHD.

No concentrating

No control of the mind

No monitoring of thoughts (mindfulness)

No trying to “empty the mind”

More than 600 peer-reviewed research studies on the TM technique have been

published in over 160 scientific journals. These studies were conducted at many U.S.

and international universities and research centers, including the Harvard Medical

School, Stanford Medical School, Yale Medical School, and the UCLA Medical

School.

Benefits: Reduced Stress and Anxiety, Decreased Depression, Reduced Insomnia,

Lower Blood Pressure, Decreased Cholesterol, Reduced Congestive, Heart Failure,

Reduced Atherosclerosis/Stroke, Decreased Free Radicals, Reduced Metabolic

Syndrome/ Pre-Diabetes, Reduced Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Reduction in Pain,

Higher Levels of Brain Functioning, Improved Intelligence, Creativity and Learning

Ability, Improved Academics, Improved School Behavior, Benefits for Special and

Remedial Education, Improved Integration of Personality, Increased Longevity, and

Reduced Substance Abuse.

* To ensure the success of each student, the Transcendental Meditation technique is

taught exclusively by certified teachers over four consecutive sessions. The first

session of the TM course is always face to face, but the following three can be done

either in-person or remotely with our new custom app (availability varies by location)

Best of the Bay

of Banderas North

By Sue Gavin / Bucerias Magic

In December of 1997, I drove to Puerto Vallarta from Daytona Beach, Florida with my

now Ex-husband, my Shit-Tzu puppy (who now is in Doggie Heaven after 16 happy

years), and everything I owned all stuffed into my tiny 1994 two-seater, Honda Del Sol. I

was on my way to Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo where I had a job lined up. Then after just one day,

like so many people, I fell in love with Puerto Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas, and

through many trials and tribulations, I am still here after all these years later and very

happy to share my experiences.

After living in many areas of the Bay over the years I found my heart and home is right

here in Bucerias. Even though this is still a small town, the expansion is rapid as many

baby boomers choose this area as a perfect retirement destination. Located just 15

minutes north of the international airport and 30 minutes from Centro Puerto Vallarta

this little gem of a town is a must to explore. Bucerias is bursting with activity in our high

season which is November through April. The low season here is quiet but many

restaurants, shops, galleries, and much more are still open for everyone's enjoyment. I

am excited to share with you the Best of the Best that this once little fishing village has

to offer.

One of my personal favorites here as well as so many locals is Karen's Place, located in

the “Golden Zone” of Bucerias which is just south of downtown. Karen's Place is one of

the best beachfront restaurants and bars on this stretch of beach. The owner, Karen, is a

young entrepreneur from England who started her first venture here 20 some years ago.

This now bustling restaurant was once a cozy coffee - tea house on the corner of Lazaro

Cardenas and Benito Juarez when Bucerias was still a tiny village and not much was

here. Over the years, just like Bucerias, Karen expanded, and her business is now in this

beachfront location directly behind Costa Dorada's Suites condominium. Guests can

choose to dine under the huge new palapa roof or one of the shady umbrellas on the

beach where you can bury your feet in the sand. This is a delightful eatery as the food is

consistently delicious and very moderately priced. My favorite dish is Karen's Taco Salad

which I order topped with steamed shrimp. Another favorite is the mahi-mahi drenched

in a lemon caper white wine sauce. The staff here is also very friendly and attentive.

Karen's Place offers a Happy Hour from 3 to 5 every day where you can enjoy a frosty 2

for 1 margarita. Diners can relax and enjoy the sound of the surf or watch the spectacular

evening Bay of Bander's sunsets.

I recently had the pleasure of being entertained by kite surfers literally, flying across the

bay. Kite surfing season is from mid-March to mid-June in Bucerias with the entire

skyline sprinkled with the colorful sails of giant kites and beautiful surfers, if you know

what I mean ladies and guys. This is an extreme sport that uses wind power with a kite to

skim the water and to jump into the air! The kite surfer rides on a bidirectional or a

directional surfboard attached to the power kite by about 20 meters of lines to a control

bar and harness. Kite surfing combines the aspects of many sports and is considered

less expensive and more convenient than its sailing counterparts and really takes some

strength and practice. I had the fortune to interview, Santiago Grimaldi, an 18-year-old

Nuevo Vallarta local, who has been mastering this sport since he was 8 years old. I was

told by his competitors that he is the Best on the Bay of Banderas! Santiago's goal is to

be sponsored for a world-class competition next year in the RedBull Megaloop

competition held in the Netherlands. Let us all send best wishes and prayers that he

gets a sponsor so this ambitious and talented young man can represent our little town

of Bucerias as a winner.

Should you be interested in trying this sport there are two schools along with rentals

and other water sports available in Bucerias that can be found easily just by walking

down the beach and talking to one of the guys.

Stay tuned for more articles, blogs, and videos from your reporter in the little paradise

town of Bucerias and the very Best of Banderas Bay northside. I hope to see you in

Bucerias soon!
