It recognises the sounds made bythe human voice and renders them as a set of highly-optimisedcodes. It allows digital radio to be extremely efficient, and as a sidebenefit, it helps remove some of the background noise fromtransmissions.• However, the algorithm does not reproduce some languages verywell. In particular, the “trill” or rolling “rrrr” sound in the Latinlanguages is transformed into a flattened “r”.• This feature applies additional audio processing in the transmittingradio to enhance the sharpness of the trill.
