Fund Facts Enero 2012 - the Culinary Health Fund

The One & Only Campaign is a public health campaign, led by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) and the Safe Injection Practices Coalition (SIPC), to raise awareness among patients and
healthcare providers about safe injection practices and get rid of outbreaks due to unsafe injection practices,
such as: hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and HIV due to the reuse of syringes and misuse of
medication vials.
This harm is preventable!
Healthcare providers should never inject medications from the same syringe to more than one patient, even if
the needle is changed; and never enter a vial with a syringe or needle that has been used for a patient if the
same medication vial might be used for another patient.

Los proveedores de cuidados médicos nunca deben inyectar medicamentos a más de un paciente con la
misma jeringa, aunque cambien la aguja; y nunca deben penetrar un vial con una jeringa o aguja que se haya
utilizado en un paciente si es posible que el mismo vial de medicamentos se use con otro paciente.
La Campaña One & Only es una campaña de salud publica, dirigida por el Centro para el Control y la
Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC, por sus siglas en ingles) y la Coalición de Prácticas para Inyecciones
Seguras (SIPC, por sus siglas en ingles), para crear conciencia entre pacientes y proveedores de cuidados
médicos sobre prácticas seguras para poner inyecciones y eliminar los brotes debidos a prácticas inseguras,
tales como: el virus del hepatitis B (VHB), el virus del hepatitis C (VHC), y del VIH debidos a múltiples usos de
jeringas y el mal uso de viales de medicina.
