The written part of my artisan work is about the history and the present of fibre hemp,
the benefits of hemp compared to other plant fibers, different species of hemp and the
many ways to use it.
When I was reading about the history of hemp, I was surprised how common fibre plant
it was earlier. Nowadays using hemp fibre is rare, but there have been some signs of revival
of interest. It has many advantages compared to cotton, for example, so it would
be reasonable to increase its use.
The practical part includes plant dyeing of hemp fabrics and sewing four pieces of
clothing. The dress and the long-armed, knee-length shirt for myself are made of thin
hemp fabric and the trousers for myself and for my customer are made of thick fabric.
The clothes are suitable for everyday use due to their material. The dress and the shirt
could also be used on special occasions because of their design.
