Sulky Soft ‘n Sheer 

Lightweight, permanent stabilizer - Ideal as a backing stabilizer for dense 

embroidery or complex designs on lightweight knits and wovens, and openweave 

fabrics. Sheer enough so it doesn’t show through most fabrics when 

excess is trimmed away, and soft enough for baby items. May be used in

Sulky Soft ‘n Sheer Extra is 1 1/2 times as heavy as original Soft ‘n Sheer with 

the added convenience of having a fusible, iron-on coating. This time-saving, 

mid-weight, cut-away is the perfect choice when you want a cut-away that is 

a little heavier than Soft ‘n Sheer, but not as heavy as Cut-Away Plus. Iron it 

onto the wrong side of your fabric, using a low temperature of about 260°.

This makes it perfect for more delicate fabrics that don’t like high heat. On 

mid-weight knits, use one layer of Soft ‘n Sheer Extra rather than two layers of 

the original Soft ‘n Sheer. And since you iron it on, your fabric will not distort 

when you hoop it. It is also a wonderful backing for embellishing pillow tops, 

and as an interfacing in garments that you simply want to remain cool and 

light. When we don’t want fleece or batting in a quilted garment, this is the 

perfect alternative. 

Soft ‘n Sheer Extra Sulky est 1 1/2 fois aussi épais que le stabilisateur Soft ‘n

Sulky Tear-Easy 

Lightweight, tear-away stabilizer - Ideal as a backing stabilizer. Use as many 

layers as needed for support, then easily tear away one layer at a time. Using 

Tear-Easy prevents the pulling, tearing or distorting of delicate straight 

stitching when removing it from embroidered designs that have both satin

Self-adhesive, tear-away stabilizer - Ideal as a backing stabilizer when doing 

computerized embroidery, especially when embroidering small pieces of 

ribbon, fabric, caps, etc. that do not fill a hoop. Perfect for napped fabrics like

Sulky Heat Away Clear Film Stabilizers 

Sulky Heat Away 

Use as a topper or stabilizer on all fabrics that can withstand iron temperatures 

of 260˚ - 300˚; similar to a cotton setting on most irons. Perfect for computer 

embroidered lace, battenburg lace, free-motion thread lace, 3D thread 

appliqués and cutwork. For removal, press with a hot iron until all the film has 

melted and formed little balls. Brush remaining particles away. 

Utiliser comme dessus ou stabilisateur sur tous les tissus et il peut supporter

Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Decorative Thread 

Fil de rayonne décoratif Sulky no.40 

Sulky 40 wt Rayon is a regenerated fiber that has the same luster of silk and 

silk’s smoothness, but is stronger than both silk and cotton. It is a lightweight, 

exceptionally strong, silky rayon thread. While it is a utilitarian weight that 

works very well in all decorative applications, it is the preferred thread for 

“free-motion” machine embroidery as well as computerized embroidery. Most 

computer embroidery designs are digitized for Sulky 40 wt Rayon Thread. It 

can also be used in the bobbin when working on projects that need matching 

bobbin and top thread. 

A size 12/80 machine needle is most commonly used with Sulky 40 wt 

Rayon, unless the thickness of the fabric / stabilizer calls for a 14/90. It is 

colourfast, both washable and dry cleanable. Bleach or whitening agents are 

not recommended.

Sulky 30 wt Rayon is one-third heavier than 40 wt and is ideal for top-stitching, 

quilting, decorative satin stitches (fills them in completely) and it is an 

exceptionally strong, silky rayon thread. When enlarging computerized designs, 

30 wt, will fill them in more completely than the lighter 40 wt rayon thread. 

When working on projects that need matching bobbin and top thread use a 

Sulky 40 wt Rayon or 60 wt PolyLite thread in a matching colour in the bobbin. 

A size 14/90 machine needle is most commonly used with Sulky 30 wt Rayon. 

It is colourfast, both washable and dry cleanable. It is recommended that no 

bleach or whitening agents be used when laundering. 

Sulky 30 wt Rayon thread is available in 156 solid and multi-colours

Fil Sulky PolyLite no.60 

Quilters love new Sulky PolyLite because it flows easily through a long-arm or 

domestic sewing machine with virtually no tension adjustments needed. Perfect 

for micro-stippling or fine detail quilting and more accurate piecing. Predictable 

one-inch colour changes in the multi-colours add interest and “forgiveness” 

to your quilting. Can be used top and bobbin for less frequent bobbin changes. 

Nearly invisible on bindings and stitching in the ditch. It’s the perfect 

companion bobbin thread for Sulky Metallics, Rayons and Invisible Threads. 

The ideal thread for heirloom sewing, nearly invisible hand or machine appliqué, 

wing-needle work, exquisite fine thread lace, trapunto and more. Doesn’t 

shrink, fray or break easily. Creates delicate decorative stitches, and crisp, 

readable lettering. It looks and feels like silk, but it is stronger and less expensive. 

A size 10/70 or 11/75 machine needle is recommended. It is colourfast, 

bleachable, and both washable and dry cleanable. 

PolyLite is available in 36 solid and 24 multi-colours: 440 yd small snap-spools

Fil Sulky Poly Deco no. 40 

Sulky 40 wt. Poly Deco is a top quality, strong, 100% polyester, shiny thread 

that is especially suited for appliqué and embroidery on children’s clothing, 

work clothes, sport clothes, or any garment that will need to be washed 

frequently. Unlike rayon, Poly Deco can be laundered with soap containing 

optical brighteners and bleach. Poly Deco has more stretch and stretch 

memory than rayon. The smooth texture of the thread also makes it great for 

hand stitching, hems and quilt binding. 

Use a 12/80 sewing machine needle. Poly Deco can be used in the bobbin as 

well as the needle. 

Sulky Poly Deco thread is available in 130 colours plus 8 neon colours.

Sulky Sliver Metallic Thread is available in 24 solid and multi-colours

Fil de coton décoratif Sulky no.30 et no.12 

Sulky Cotton thread is a premier quality, long staple, highly mercerized natural 

Egyptian cotton with a matte finish to create a soft, warm, natural look and 

feel. For a more prominent look, use the heavier Sulky 12 wt cotton, it has 

much the same thickness as some pearl cottons but can flow through a size 

14/90 or 16/100 sewing machine needle. For a more delicate look, use the 

lighter Sulky 30 wt cotton. Excellent for machine or hand quilting, redwork, 

low density computerized embroidery or machine appliqué, couching, tassels, 

fringe, counted cross stitch, lace and bobbin work, long arm quilting, serger 

techniques, machine decorative stitches, all purpose sewing, and counted 

cross stitch. 

Use a quilting or topstitching needle in a size 14/90 or 16/100 for 12 wt and a 

size 14/90 needle with the 30 wt cotton thread.

Sulky Polyester Invisible Thread / Fil invisible Sulky 

Sulky Invisible Thread is a very fine .004, flexible polyester monofilament 

that makes it wonderful to use as a lightweight bobbin thread for decorative 

stitches and embroidery. It’s perfect for invisible appliqué, machine “handlook” 

quilting, and stitching in the ditch. It’s an excellent choice for hems too. 

Because it is 100% polyester, not nylon, it is softer, more flexible and does 

not melt with normal ironing through the cotton setting. 

Use an 11/75, 12/80 or 14/90 needle. 

Sulky Polyester Invisible Thread is available in Clear and Smoke

Puffy Foam is a high quality ethylene vinyl acetate film that is made specifically for use on home 

sewing machines. It is non-toxic, water-resistant and machine washable, but it is flammable and 

cannot be dry-cleaned. It comes in two thicknesses for different stitching effects, and there is 

virtually no waste because even very small pieces can be used. Puffy Foam perforates cleanly 

when stitched through, and makes the stitching stand well above the fabric. It is being widely seen 

commercially in headgear and washable wearables.
