14.4. MAINTENANCE ON THE WATER SYSTEM
With the system switched off, once a year carry out the following checks:
• Check the operation and efficiency of the blowdown and safety valves. If they are defective, contact your
authorised installer. IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO REMOVE OR TAMPER WITH THE SAFETY
DEVICES.
• Check the thermal insulation of the filling pipe and the safety pipe.
• Make sure that the system is filled and under pressure, checking the water level in the expansion tank; also
check that it is working properly and check the efficiency of the safety pipe.
15. SUMMER SHUTDOWN
ATTENTION: The system must be kept constantly full of water even during the periods when the use of the
thermoheating stove is not requested. During the winter, inactivity must be faced with the addition of
antifreeze.
When the fireplace, chimney and flue have been cleaned completely, eliminating the ash and any other residues, it is
good practice to close all of the doors with the relative fireplace regulators. If the appliance is disconnected from the
chimney, the outlet hole must be closed.
It is recommended to clean the flue at least once a year; verifying in time the effective state of the seals, which if are
not perfectly integral – i.e. do not adhere to the thermoheating stove – do not guarantee the good functioning of the
appliance! They must therefore be replaced.
If there is humidity in the place where the appliance is placed, place absorbent salts inside the fireplace of the latter.
16. CONNECTION TO THE FLUE OF AN OPEN CHIMNEY OF FIREPLACE
In the connection of the flue channel and the tract of pipe that connects the thermo-product to the flue, these simple
but very important principles must be respected:
• for no reason must a flue channel be used that has a diameter lower than that of the output collar with which
the thermo-product is equipped;
• every horizontal metre of the flue channel causes a sensitive loss of pressure, which must be compensated
by rising of the flue;
• the horizontal tract must never exceed 2m (UNI 10683-2005);
• each bend in the flue channel notably
reduces the chimney effect of the flue,
which must be compensated by raising it
adequately;
• the UNI 10683-2005 – Standard ITALY
envisions that the bends or variations of
direction must never be more than 2
including the entry into the flue.
C - Infill
In order to use the flue of an open chimney or
fireplace, the hood must be closed hermetically
below the intake point of the flue channel pos. A
Picture 12.
If the flue is too big (e.g. cm 30x40 or 40x50) it
must be ducted with a stainless steel pipe with at
least 200mm diameter, pos. B, taking care to close
the space remaining between the pipe itself and
the flue well, immediately under the chimney pot
pos. C.
