Faults Possible cause Remedy
Rough running, - engine bolts or mower chassis fasteners loose - retighten screws/bolts
machine vibrates strongly - blade fasteners loose - check blade fasteners
- blade out of balance or faulty - balance or replace cutting blade
- friction clutch faulty - possibly replace friction washers
(in pairs)
Engine will not start
- has the brake bar been pulled/pressed
against the handle?
- press/pull the brake bar
- is the throttle control correctly positioned? - select correct adjustment
- is the Bowden cable/engine brake
in the correct position?
- check for correct adjustment
- spark plug or spark plug cap faulty? - clean or replace spark plug or cap
- fuel tank empty - refuel
Engine runs roughly - air filter contaminated - clean or replace air filter
- throttle Bowden cable kinked - adjust or replace throttle Bowden cable
- spark plug sooty - clean spark plug
Starter cord snatches back - blade fastener or friction clutch loose - check blade fasteners
Lawn turns yellow - blade blunt - sharpen the cutting blade
Low quality cut - cutting height too low - correct height adjustment
- engine speed too low - move throttle control to max.
Mower collects - engine speed to low - move throttle control to max.
cuttings poorly - cutting height too low - correct height adjustment
for tall grass
- blade worn - replace the cutting blade
- grass catcher bag clogged up - clean or replace the grass catcher bag

not original SOLO spare parts or such parts authorised by SOLO, and/or repairs were carried out by others
than an approved customer service shop or authorised expert. The same conditions apply to
supplementary equipment and accessories.
