<strong>Quand</strong> <strong>Peugeot</strong> Belgique-Luxembourg <strong>retrouve</strong><br />
<strong>un</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>ses</strong> <strong>terrains</strong> préférés…<br />
Grâce à Br<strong>un</strong>o Thiry d’abord, en 2002 et 2003, à l’époque <strong>de</strong> la 206 WRC, puis<br />
avec Freddy Loix, en 2008, sur la 207 S2000, le palmarès <strong>de</strong> <strong>Peugeot</strong> Belgique-<br />
Luxembourg à Ypres est riche <strong>de</strong> trois victoires. Ce weekend, l’objectif sera <strong>de</strong> tout<br />
faire pour y conquérir, avec Thierry Neuville et Nicolas Gilsoul, <strong>un</strong> quatrième succès.<br />
S’il est <strong>un</strong> rallye qu’il est superflu <strong>de</strong> présenter, c’est bien le Ypres Rally, dont le terrain très spécifique est connu <strong>de</strong><br />
tous : <strong>de</strong>s routes étroites et ultra-rapi<strong>de</strong>s, d’innombrables et impressionnants freinages pour <strong>de</strong> multiples changements<br />
<strong>de</strong> direction, <strong>un</strong>e adhérence à la fois faible et variable, la plongée dans <strong>de</strong>s cor<strong>de</strong>s profon<strong>de</strong>s où l’on risque<br />
à chaque instant la crevaison et la présence obsédante <strong>de</strong> ces wateringues dans lesquels la voiture s’immobilisera<br />
définitivement à la moindre erreur <strong>de</strong> pilotage.<br />
Ypres, c’est <strong>un</strong> défi <strong>un</strong>ique, mais déjà maîtrisé, à plusieurs repri<strong>ses</strong>, par l’équipe <strong>Peugeot</strong> Belgique-Luxembourg, qui<br />
l’a emporté trois fois, avec les meilleurs équipages <strong>de</strong> l’époque : Br<strong>un</strong>o Thiry et Stéphane Prévot en 2002, sur 206<br />
WRC, Br<strong>un</strong>o Thiry encore, en 2003, avec Jean-Marc Fortin, toujours sur 206 WRC, et Freddy Loix, secondé par Robin<br />
Buysmans, en 2008, sur 207 S2000.<br />
–« Thierry Neuville est appelé, <strong>un</strong> jour, à leur succé<strong>de</strong>r, déclare Marc Van Dalen, le team manager <strong>de</strong> l’équipe. Il reçoit,<br />
cette année, sa première chance <strong>de</strong> s’imposer à son tour à Ypres. Je le sens physiquement et mentalement à la hauteur<br />
<strong>de</strong>s espoirs qui sont placés en lui. C’est pourquoi nous mettons, non seulement toutes les chances, mais toute la force<br />
<strong>de</strong> notre expérience <strong>de</strong> notre côté. Menée en collaboration avec <strong>Peugeot</strong> Sport, <strong>un</strong>e séance d’essais <strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong>ux jours nous<br />
a permis <strong>de</strong> peaufiner nos réglages. Nous avons plus que jamais soigné tous les détails <strong>de</strong> notre participation. Thierry<br />

Kronos Racing, le préparateur <strong>de</strong> la 207 S2000 alignée par <strong>Peugeot</strong> Belgique –Luxembourg, compte <strong>un</strong>e quatrième<br />
victoire à Ypres, conquise en 2009, avec Kris Meeke. <strong>Peugeot</strong> en ajoute <strong>un</strong>e cinquième, glanée en 2007, par Luca<br />
Rossetti. Après <strong>un</strong>e seule année abandonnée à la concurrence, le moment est venu, pour la 207 S2000, <strong>de</strong> mettre <strong>de</strong><br />
nouveau la main sur l’épreuve du Westhoek.<br />
–«Thierry est placé dans les meilleures conditions pour atteindre cet objectif, poursuit Van Dalen. En 2010, il s’est<br />
classé troisième en réussissant <strong>de</strong>s chronos proches <strong>de</strong> ceux <strong>de</strong>s meilleurs, mais les progrès qu’il a accompli en <strong>un</strong> an<br />
sont stupéfiants. Ses trois <strong>de</strong>rnières prestations, à commencer par sa victoire en Corse, en attestent : il peut gagner. »<br />

L’objectif est donné, mais cela ne signifie en auc<strong>un</strong> cas qu’il sera facile à atteindre. Emmenée par Freddy Loix, six fois<br />
victorieux à Ypres, et par Jan Kopecky, <strong>de</strong>uxième en 2010, la concurrence s’annonce redoutable.<br />
