Die stille faszination 

des teppichbodens 

Seit 1883 fertigt Vorwerk Teppiche. Aus der Manufaktur von einst ist ein global 

agierendes Unternehmen geworden. Und aus der Kunst, hochwertige textile 

Bodenbeläge zu gestalten, erwuchs die Verantwortung für ein ökologisches, 

ökonomisches und soziales Gleichgewicht.

Boden – sie machen die Vorwerk Teppichwerke zu 

einem der international führenden Anbieter hochwertiger 

Teppichböden für den privaten und gewerblichen Raum. Einer 

der entscheidenden Faktoren: das Design. Design ist Form, 

Funktion und Farbe. Aber nicht nur: Design ist auch Material 

und Konstruktion. Die Kollektionen umfassen eine Vielfalt 

unterschiedlicher Modelle, gehen auf spezielle Bedürfnisse im 

Objektbereich ein und zeigen selbst luxuriöse Kreationen, die 

auf Wunsch individuell gefertigt werden. Vorwerk stellt regelmäßig 

Kollektionen und Sondereditionen vor, die in Kooperation 

mit international renommierten Architekten, Designern 

und Künstlern entstanden. Diese und viele weitere Projekte

Dabei steht die Frage des ökologisch richtigen, des vernünftigen 

Handelns für Vorwerk Teppich vor jeder Unternehmensentscheidung. 

Innovation, Qualität und ein ökologisches, 

soziales Gleichgewicht sind die Basis aller Aktivitäten – ganz 

im Sinne der Vorwerk-Programmatik „Eco Balance“, mit 

der wir die unterschiedlichen Aspekte von Nachhaltigkeit 

in einen symbiotischen Kontext bringen. Essentiell dafür ist 

unser langjähriges Know-how in Produktion und Auswahl 

der Fertigungsmaterialien. Vorwerk Teppich erfüllt höchste 

internationale Qualitätsstandards und setzt im gesamten 

Produktentstehungsprozess auf neuartige, emissionsarme und 

ressourcenschonende Technologien und Verfahren – wie etwa 

die vollautomatische Farbdosier- und Ansatzstation oder das 

Kaltfärbeverweilverfahren. Doch nicht nur die Produktion, 

auch die Produkte folgen dem Anspruch an Nachhaltigkeit. So 

kommt unsere TEXtiles-Technologie ohne Bitumen und ohne 

PVC aus. Der TÜV Nord verlieh das Prüfsiegel „Für Allergiker 

geeignet“ und auch der Deutsche Allergie- und Asthmabund 

e.V. (DAAB) sprach eine Empfehlung für Vorwerk Teppiche 

aus. Wir stellen uns regelmäßig internationalen Prüfungs- 

Komitees. Das Ergebnis: Auch mit dem amerikanischen Green 

Label Plus wurde Vorwerk Teppich bereits zertifiziert.

Vorwerk has been manufacturing carpets since 1883. The 

small factory of yore has become an enterprise operating on a 

global scale. And out of the craft to design high-grade textile 

floor coverings has grown a responsibility for ecological, economic 

and social balance. 

Sophistication, creativity and intelligence revolving around 

the floor as central theme – they make Vorwerk Carpets one of 

the leading international suppliers of high-quality carpets for 

the private and commercial sector. One of the decisive factors: 

the design. Design is form, function and colour. But not only 

that: Design is materials and construction, too. The collections 

encompass a multitude of different models, address specific 

needs at business locations, and display even luxurious creations 

produced custom-made upon request. Vorwerk regularly 

exhibits collections and special editions which have arisen in 

co-operation with internationally renowned architects, designers 

and artists. These and other projects form the cultural 

substance that makes up the brand, the driving, creative force 

behind Vorwerk Carpets. 

Before any company-wide decision is made, at Vorwerk Carpets 

a priority is given to the question of ecologically accountable, 

of sensible action. Innovation, quality and a combined 

ecological and social balance are the basis for all activities – 

fully in alignment with “Eco Balance”, the programme agenda 

at Vorwerk with which we bring the different aspects of 

sustainability into a symbiotic context. Essential towards accomplishing 

this are our years of know-how in producing and 

selecting our materials for production. Vorwerk Carpets fulfils 

the highest international standards for quality and banks on 

novel, low-emission and resource-conserving technologies 

and methods within the entire product-creation process – for 

instance, the fully automatic dye dosage and batch preparation 

station, or the cold-dyeing method. Yet not only production 

pursues this demand for sustainability; the products do 

so as well. That our TEXtiles technology refrains from using 

bitumen and PVCs is just one example. TÜV Nord, a North 

German technical certification association, has awarded us 

the inspection seal “Suitable for those suffering from 

allergies”, and DAAB, the German Allergy and Asthma

Association, has expressly recommended carpets from 

Vorwerk. We have ourselves audited regularly by international 

auditing councils. The result: Vorwerk Carpets 

has even been certified with the coveted “Green Label

Avant de prendre une décision, Vorwerk Teppich s’interroge 

toujours sur l’enjeu écologique et la portée de son action. 

L’innovation, la qualité et un équilibre écologique et social animent 

en effet toutes les activités, dans le sens du programme 

Vorwerk « Eco Balance », qui nous permet de réunir les 

différents critères de développement durable dans un même 

schéma. Pour ce faire, un outil essentiel est l’expérience que 

nous avons acquise durant de longues années dans la production 

et dans le choix des matières de fabrication. Vorwerk 

Teppich répond aux normes de qualité internationales les plus 

élevées et recourt pour l’ensemble de son processus de production 

à des technologies et des procédés innovants présentant 

un faible taux d’émission et respectueux des ressources. C’est 

le cas de la station de dosage et d’application des teintes ou 

du procédé de teinture à froid. À noter que nos exigences de 

durabilité ne s’appliquent pas uniquement à nos systèmes de 

production mais qu’elles touchent également nos produits. 

Grâce par exemple à notre technologie TEXtiles, nous fabriquons 

des produits exempts de bitume et de PVC. Vorwerk 

Teppich bénéficie désormais du label de contrôle TÜV NORD 

« Convient aux personnes allergiques », et l’entreprise est 

recommandée par la Fédération allemande Asthme et Allergie 

(Deutscher Allergie- und Asthmabund e.V. ou DAAB). 

Nos procédés de fabrication font régulièrement l’objet 

de contrôles par des comités internationaux. Résultat : 

Vorwerk Teppich est désormais détentrice de la certification

Im Objektbereich sind die Anforderungen 

an einen textilen Bodenbelag 

von unterschiedlichsten Bedürfnissen 

geprägt. In erster Linie spielen 

hier Strapazierfähigkeit und Brandschutzvorschriften 

eine Rolle, aber 

auch bauliche Gegebenheiten, wie 

beispielsweise Doppelböden oder 

wechselnde Nutzungen in Großraumbüros. 

Um diesen technischen 

Ansprüchen gerecht zu werden und 

auch ästhetische Wünsche bei der 

Gestaltung des Bodenbereichs auf 

hohem Niveau umsetzen zu können, 

bieten wir ein breites Spektrum an 

Alternativen. 

Die klassische Bahnenware in 400 cm 

(Tufting) sowie 200 cm (Webware) 

Breite ermöglicht Ihnen eine homogene 

Gestaltung des Bodens mit 

individueller Dessinierung und 

Farbwahl. Ist eine Wiederaufnahmefähigkeit 

des Teppichbodens bzw. 

ein Austausch von Teilbereichen 

gefordert, bietet sich der Einsatz von 

selbstliegenden, schwerbeschichteten 

Teppichfliesen (SL) an. Seit 2009 

produziert Vorwerk bitumen- und 

PVC-freie Teppichfliesen im eigenen 

Werk. Neben den marktüblichen 

quadratischen Teppichfliesen bieten 

wir auch so genannte Freiformfliesen 

an, mit denen Sie eigene Designvorstellungen 

realisieren und selbst 

zum Gestalter des Teppichbodens 

werden können.

Forms on Offer 

The demands placed on a textile 

floor covering in the business-site 

sector are marked by the widest variety 

of needs. Durability and fire-prevention 

regulations primarily play a 

role here, but so do given structural 

conditions, for instance raised-access 

floors or alternating usages in 

open-plan offices. We offer a broad 

spectrum of alternatives in order to 

do justice to these technical demands 

and be in a position to enact wishes 

in designing the floor area at a high 

level of aesthetic sophistication. 

Classic broadloom carpet from the 

roll in 400 cm (tufted) and 200 cm 

(woven) widths makes it possible 

for you to attain a homogeneous 

floor design with individual design 

patterns and a choice of colours. If 

carpet removability or a replacement 

of sections is called for, the use of 

self-laying, heavily backed carpet 

tiles (SL) suggests itself. Since 2009 

Vorwerk has been producing carpet 

tiles at its own factory that are free 

of bitumen and PVCs. Alongside the 

square tiles customary to the market, 

we also offer so-called “free-form” 

tiles with which you can carry out 

your own design ideas and become a 

floor designer yourself.

Formes proposées

et les NORMALISATIONS en matière 

DE PROTECTION INCENDIE, mais 

concernent aussi les données du 

bâtiment, comme par exemple les 

planchers TECHNIQUES ou des 

utilisations variées des bureaux en 

espace ouvert. Nous vous proposons 

un vaste éventail de possibilités afin 

de répondre à ces exigences techniques 

et d’être en mesure de traiter 

avec brio des demandes concernant 

l’esthétique des conceptions de sols. 

Les moquettes en lés classiques 

de 400 cm (modèles tuftés) et de 

200 cm de largeur (modèles tissés) 

permettent une décoration homogène 

du sol, avec des dessins et des 

coloris individuels. Dans le cas où 

une dépose/repose de la moquette 

ou le remplacement de parties est 

nécessaire, vous pouvez désormais 

utiliser des dalles textiles plombantes 

amovibles (SL). Depuis 2009, 

Vorwerk produit des dalles textiles 

sans bitume et sans PVC dans sa 

propre usine. Outre les dalles textiles 

carrées classiques, nous proposons 

les dalles dites « freeform » vous 

permettant de réaliser vos propres 

conceptions et de devenir le créateur 

de votre moquette.

Die getufteten Standard-Objektqualitäten von Vorwerk

Vorwerk gives a whole new meaning to the term design 

flexibility: With regard to both design and colour, we 

offer our customers the opportunity to make their own 

ideas a reality. Starting at as little as 100 square metres 

for woven products and 400 square metres for tufted 

products, we can enact nearly any personalised idea you 

might think of. 

The tufted standard products from Vorwerk Carpets 

make a multitude of individual designs and colourings 

possibe. Other background tints can be implemented 

just as well as changes in the design’s colour. Even selfdrafted 

designs can be commissioned for production. 

Simply put your draft on paper — we take care of all the 

rest. From CAD conversion, in which a colour print-out 

is used to go through sizes and colour variations, all the 

way to print proofs on original carpeting (if you request 

them), we offer you every kind of support towards 

achieving an optimum result. 

Besides the options above, a large part of the carpets 

depicted are available directly from the warehouse.

Im Objektgeschäft sind Teppichbodenfliesen eine beliebte Alternative zur 

Bahnenware, besonders dort, wo Flexibilität durch Wiederaufnahmefähigkeit 

gefordert ist. Einen Großteil unserer Tuftingprodukte, die wir als Bahnenware 

und Coupon vermarkten, bieten wir Ihnen auch als Fliesenmodule an. 

Ein entscheidender Punkt bei Teppichfliesen: die Rückenbeschichtung. Um die 

bis dahin üblichen PVC- oder Bitumenbeschichtungen zu ersetzen, haben wir 

2009 die TEXtiles-Technologie eingeführt – ein innovatives, umweltgerechtes 

Beschichtungsverfahren. Damit ist Vorwerk der einzige vollstufige Teppichbodenhersteller, 

der eine SL-Fliesenfertigung am eigenen Standort realisiert hat.

Carpet tiles are a popular alternative to broadloom from 

the roll in the business-site sector, especially when 

flexibility through removability is called for. With our 

tufted products, we offer a major portion of the selection 

we market as broadloom or fabric remnants as tile 

modules, too. 

A decisive point when it comes to carpet tiles: the backing. 

In 2009 we launched TEXtiles technology, an innovative, 

environmentally conscionable coating procedure, 

to replace the PVC or bitumen backing coatings that had 

been customary before that. As a result, Vorwerk is the 

only carpet manufacturer that has achieved heavy-duty 

tile production at its own works.

Carpets presented a textile tile concept 

that deliberately breaks with all 

previous conventions and, in terms 

of form, function and design, opens 

up new horizons in the designing

SCALE and FreeSCALE are carpet 

tiles with different element sizes, 

selections of materials, tufted and 

woven styles, patterns and worlds of

a freestyle compositional interplay

Eine Reise durch 

einhundert Jahre 

Kunstgeschichte 

– dargestellt auf einem Objekt, 

das viel zu lange auf seine Funktion reduziert war: 

dem Teppichboden. 

Viel zu lange unterlag der Teppichboden dem nüchternen Gestaltungswillen industrieller Fertigungsmethoden. Wir haben 

unseren Blick auf die Arbeiten früher Visionäre und gegenwärtiger Künstler gerichtet – und ihre Designideen im Rahmen 

einer eigenen Kollektion verwirklicht. Die Art Collection umfasst Bodengestaltungen aus der Zeit der Jahrhundertwende, des 

Bauhauses und der Gegenwart. Pop-Art-Entwürfe von Roy Lichtenstein sind darin ebenso vertreten wie die avantgardistischen 

Ideen von Coop Himmelb(l)au oder die aufregenden, höhlenartigen Zeichnungen von Mimmo Paladino. 

A journey across a hundred years 

of art history 

– depicted on an object that was reduced to its basic function 

for far too long: the carpet. 

The carpet was governed much too long by the down-to-earth 

design intransigence of industrial production methods. 

We have set our sights on the work of early visionaries and 

contemporary artists – and enacted their design ideas within 

the framework of a collection all its own. The Art Collection 

includes designs for flooring from the time around the turn of 

the century, the Bauhaus era, and the present. Pop Art designs 

by Roy Lichtenstein are represented here to the same extent as 

avant-garde ideas from Coop Himmelb(l)au or the stimulating, 

cave-like drawings by Mimmo Paladino.

– un revêtement trop longtemps réduit à sa seule fonction. 

La moquette a trop longtemps été soumise à la conception 

délibérément minimaliste des procédés de fabrication industriels. 

Partant de ce constat, nous nous sommes penchés 

sur des ouvrages d’artistes visionnaires d’hier et d’aujourd’hui 

en présentant leurs conceptions du design à travers une 

collection unique en son genre. L’Art Collection regroupe des 

créations du tournant du siècle, du Bauhaus et d’aujourd’hui. On 

y découvre notamment des projets Pop-Art de Roy Lichtenstein, 

les idées avant-gardistes de Coop Himmelb(l)au ou encore les 

lithogravures passionnantes de Mimmo Paladino.

Josef Hoffmann, Wiener Architekt und Designer. Er war Mitbegründer 

der Wiener Secession, der Wiener Werkstätte

Gunta Stölzl, Weberin, studierte von 1919 bis 1925 am

nicht nur, sondern übernahm 1927 auch die Gesamtleitung 

der Weberei. Dort gelang es ihr, den Wandel 

vom bildhaften Einzelstück zum modernen Industrieentwurf 

zu vollziehen.
