<strong>Festival</strong> de Musique 2012<br />
Le <strong>Festival</strong> de Musique de Saint-Barthélemy revendique plus que jamais son label de qualité. Si un terme doit<br />
définir le millésime 2012, c’est bien celui de qualitatif, à l’image de l’ouverture de ce <strong>Festival</strong> qui se fera avec<br />
la grande harpiste Française Coline-Marie Orliac et avec les concerts de deux quartets à cordes : le Enso <strong>St</strong>ring<br />
Quartet qui a reçu en 2010 le Grammy Award du « Best Chamber <strong>Music</strong> Performance » et le Jérusalem <strong>St</strong>ring<br />
Quartet qui a été distingué par le « Diapason d’Or » de la chaîne Arte.<br />
La programmation appelle également cette année le rock, qui arrive en force avec le groupe All <strong>St</strong>ar Band, auquel<br />
s’est joint le célèbre guitariste Brad Whitford du groupe mondialement connu Aerosmith.<br />
Dans le domaine du jazz, Saint-Bartélemy va accueillir cette année encore de formidables artistes, avec notamment<br />
le John Ellis Quintet qui s’est déjà produit pour notre plus grand plaisir à plusieurs reprises dans le<br />
cadre du <strong>Festival</strong>.<br />
Nos soirées orchestrales et d’opéra seront quant à elles marquées par la présence de la grande Mezzo Soprano<br />
Denyce Graves et du Maestro <strong>St</strong>even Mercurio, qui est désormais un habitué de notre <strong>Festival</strong> et qui s’est distingué<br />
l’année dernière en accompagnant le chanteur <strong>St</strong>ing à l’occasion de sa grande tournée mondiale « Symphonicity<br />
», au sein de laquelle il a dirigé le Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.<br />
Ainsi, le <strong>Festival</strong> de Musique de Saint-Barthélemy s’affirme indéniablement comme le grand rendez-vous de la<br />
saison, en réunissant près de soixante artistes et en jouant la carte de l’éclectisme, tout en tirant constamment<br />
sa programmation vers le haut.<br />
Fort du succès sans cesse renouvelé de cette brillante manifestation, je tiens à remercier les organisateurs et<br />
l’ensemble des partenaires qui nous accompagnent dans cette belle aventure et souhaite à toutes et à tous un<br />
très bon <strong>Festival</strong> 2012.<br />

The Saint Barths <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> proclaims its seal of quality more than ever before.<br />
If there were a term to describe the 2012 <strong>Festival</strong>, it would be one of quality, as revealed by the opening of this<br />
<strong>Festival</strong> which will feature the renowned French harpist Coline-Marie Orliac, as well as two string quartet<br />
concerts: The Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet, honoured in 2010 with the Grammy Award for ‘Best Chamber <strong>Music</strong> Performance’,<br />
and The Jerusalem <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet, which was awarded the ‘Diapason D’Or’ by the TV channel, Arte.<br />
This year’s programme will also include rock music, which arrives in force with the All <strong>St</strong>ar Band, including the<br />
American guitarist Brad Whitford from the world renowned group Aerosmith.<br />
In terms of jazz, this year Saint-Barthélemy will again welcome great artists, notably the John Ellis Quintet whom<br />
we have had the great pleasure of seeing at many previous <strong>Festival</strong>s.<br />
Opera night and orchestral evenings will be highlighted by the presence of the great Mezzo-soprano Denyce<br />
Graves and the Maestro <strong>St</strong>even Mercurio, who is now a regular feature of our <strong>Festival</strong> and who had the distinguished<br />
rôle last year of accompanying the singer <strong>St</strong>ing on his grand world tour, ‘Symphonicity’, for which he conducted<br />
the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.<br />
The Saint <strong>Barts</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> thus asserts itself undeniably as the great gathering of the season by eclectically<br />
uniting almost sixty artists, consistently taking its programme to a higher level.<br />
Delighted by the ongoing success of this marvelous event, I would like to thank the organisers as well as the<br />
sponsors and all those involved in this wonderful occasion, and wish you all a very enjoyable <strong>Festival</strong> 2012.<br />

Bienvenue à la 28 ème Edition Annuelle du <strong>Festival</strong> !<br />
Toujours fidèle! Notre édition de l’année dernière était déjà spéciale mais nous revenons à nouveau<br />
avec plus de nouveauté ! Cette année encore, parce que vous nous le demandez, la danse fera partie<br />
de notre programmation et clôturera le <strong>Festival</strong> en beauté.<br />
Pour vous, festivaliers du premier jour ou bien vous qui découvrez le <strong>Festival</strong>, nous nous efforçons<br />
de vous apportez des soirées musicales d’une qualité inoubliable. Pour cela, cette année nous vous<br />
offrons l’opportunité d’écouter la grande Mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, qui chante dans nos soirées<br />
orchestrale et d’opéra. Tout a été mis en œuvre pour vous offrir le meilleur du meilleur !<br />
Cette année est aussi marquée par le début d’une grande campagne de soutien qui permettra d’assurer<br />
une pérennité à notre <strong>Festival</strong>. Un concert gratuit « Sur le Quai » marquera cet appel. Nous<br />
espérons que vous serez nombreux à être sensible à cette demande et nous vous en remercions<br />
par avance..<br />
Cette année encore, nous prolongeons notre programme pédagogique par les interventions de nos<br />
musiciens dans toutes les écoles de l’île et la possibilité pour les élèves avec leurs professeurs<br />
d’assister gratuitement aux répétitions d’orchestre et d’opéra pour leur faire toucher du doigt le<br />
travail investi. C’est toujours un plaisir de voir chaque année ces enfants participer et s’imprégner<br />
de la Musique du <strong>Festival</strong>.<br />
Enfin et surtout nous voulons particulièrement remercier tous ceux qui rendent ce <strong>Festival</strong> possible,<br />
je pense particulièrement au soutien du Président de Saint Barthélémy et de sa collectivité, les<br />
membres de notre association et vous notre public d’amis fidèles.<br />

Welcome to the 28 th annual <strong>St</strong>.Barth <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>!<br />
We’re back! Last year’s 27th anniversary was very special, and now we’re back for more -- new and<br />
improved! This year we are once again, by popular demand, bringing outstanding dancers to bring<br />
the <strong>Festival</strong> to grand Finale.<br />
Whether you're a long-time audience member or a first time visitor, we look forward to providing<br />
you with wonderful experiences of exceptional quality. For example, this year you will have the opportunity<br />
to hear the internationally renown mezzo-soprano, Denyce Graves, sing both in the orchestra<br />
program and the opera night. We provide nothing but the best of the best for our <strong>Music</strong><br />
<strong>Festival</strong> audiences!<br />
This year we are beginning our Endowment Campaign to ensure the continuation of this <strong>Festival</strong>.<br />
Our "Sur le Quai" performance highlights this effort. We hope that many of you who make this an<br />
annual event in your lives will support this effort. Thank you all in advance for your generosity..<br />
We continue our outreach program with school visits, as well as inviting the island teachers to bring<br />
their students to orchestra and opera rehearsals so that they can learn to appreciate the work involved<br />
with music making. It’s tremendously heartwarming that every year the children are excited<br />
to absorb and learn and make music a part of their lives.<br />
Finally, and so very importantly, we thank EVERYONE involved with making this <strong>Festival</strong> possible,<br />
including the President, the Collectivité, the members of the association, the inspired performers<br />
who participate so enthusiastically, and YOU, our audience of friends. Your financial and overall<br />
support are VITAL and if you would like to work more directly with us in specific ways, we encourage<br />

Le John Ellis Quartet existe depuis 1996, lorsque John<br />
rencontre le pianiste Aaron Goldberg au concours de<br />
Saxophone Thelonious Monk. John a rencontré le<br />
contrebassiste Reuben Rogers en 1994 lors de la Fish<br />
Middleton Jazz Scholarship Competition et Jason Marsalis<br />
en 1993 au <strong>Festival</strong> Eastern <strong>Music</strong> en Caroline du<br />
Nord. Et depuis 1996, ils se produisent souvent en<br />
concert ensemble mais aussi en studio. John joue souvent<br />
avec le groupe de Reuben et Aaron a participé à<br />
trois de ses productions . John, saxophoniste de Double<br />
Wide, joue avec Jason aux percussions. John et Aaron<br />
sont également co-producteurs de séries de livres et Cd<br />
destinées aux enfants intitulées « Baby Loves Jazz ». Le<br />
Quartet a produit ensemble « <strong>Music</strong> in Motion », « The<br />
Things I Am », “Home” et dernièrement “Puppet Mischief”.<br />
Depuis qu’ils se sont rencontrés, ces quatre<br />
gentlemen ne cessent de produire à chacun leur tour de<br />
belles productions musicales. John est venu la première<br />
fois pour notre <strong>Festival</strong> en 2000 avec le groupe<br />
de Jason Marsalis.<br />
The John Ellis Quartet has been together since 1996. It<br />
was then that John finally met pianist Aaron Goldberg<br />
at the Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition. John<br />
met bassist Reuben Rogers at the 1994 Fish Middleton<br />
Jazz Scholarship Competition and met drummer Jason<br />
Marsalis in 1993 at the Eastern <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> in North<br />
Carolina. Since 1996 they often work together in live performances as well as studio recordings. John often<br />
plays in Reuben’s touring band. Aaron’ working trio features Reuben on the bass. John’s sousaphone-centric<br />
band, Double-Wide, features Jason on the drums. John and Aaron also co-produced the music for the wildly<br />
popular children’s book series “Baby Loves Jazz.” The quartet’s collaborative efforts include “<strong>Music</strong> In Motion”,<br />
“The Things I Am”, “Home”, as well as “Puppet Mischief.” In the years since their meeting these four gentlemen<br />
continue to be frequently team up on a variety of projects, often under each other’s leadership. In fact, John<br />
first came to <strong>St</strong>. Barths in 2000 to play in a band led by Jason.<br />

Nico ABoNdolo - Contrebasse / Double Bass<br />
Nico a commencé à jouer à quatorze ans avec l’Orchestre Philarmonique de Los Angeles et<br />
il a été en 1983 le premier contrebassiste à gagner le premier prix du Concours International<br />
de Genève. Il a étudié à l’Université de Californie du Sud où il est à présent professeur. Il<br />
enseigne également à l’Académie de Musique de l’Ouest. D’abord contrebassiste principal<br />
du New Chamber Orchestra de San Francisco avec lequel il a enregistré le Concerto per<br />
Corde d’Alberto Ginastera ; Nico est aussi co-directeur et compositeur du Rebecca <strong>St</strong>enn’s<br />
Perks Dance <strong>Music</strong> Theatre.<br />
Nico made his debut at age fourteen with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and in 1983 became the first double bassist<br />
ever to win first place in the International Competition for <strong>Music</strong>al Performers in Geneva, Switzerland. He studied at<br />
the University of Southern California where he is now professor of bass and he is also a professor at the <strong>Music</strong> Academy<br />
of the West. Formerly principal bass for San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra with whom he recorded Alberto<br />
Ginastera’s Concerto per Corde. Nico is co-director and composer for Rebecca <strong>St</strong>enn’s Perks Dance <strong>Music</strong> Theatre.<br />
Ryland ANgel - Contre - Ténor / Countertenor<br />
Ryland Angel a commencé des cours de droit avant de se lancer dans une carrière de chanteur.<br />
D’origine britannique, il fait d’abord partie d’une chorale liturgique et chante dans des<br />
maisons d’opéra. Il a reçu un Grammy et s’est produit avec de grands artistes tels que Roy<br />
Goodman et Christophe Russet. Ryland a chanté pour de nombreuses productions internationales<br />
comme la première de Messie de Handel avec <strong>Music</strong>a Sacra au Carnegie Hall et<br />
dans Orfeo de Monteverdi avec l’Opéra National Anglais. Ryland a également chanté pour<br />
les films Henry IV et Le Petit Prince.<br />
Ryland Angel originally trained as a lawyer before pursuing a singing career. He is a British countertenor with a broad<br />
experience singing in liturgical choirs and at opera houses. He has received a Grammy nomination and has performed<br />
with many renowned artists, including Roy Goodman and Christophe Russet. He has sung in many international productions<br />
such as Handel’s Messiah with <strong>Music</strong>a Sacra in a Carnegie Hall debut and in Monteverdi's Orfeo with the English<br />
National Opera. Ryland also sang for the films Henry IV and Le Petit Prince.<br />
Nicolas Audy-RowlANd - Compositeur / Composer<br />
Après une jeunesse vécue à Saint-Barthélemy, il acquiert une maîtrise de Grec et de Latin<br />
au Collège d’Amherst où il étudie aussi le jazz ; il partage actuellement sa vie entre Saint-<br />
Barthélemy et Boston. Il est auteur, compositeur, interprète, et a composé la musique du<br />
programme « Blue and Red » sur internet.<br />
After growing up on Saint Barthelemy, he attended Amherst College majoring in Latin and<br />
Greek. He studied jazz in Boston. He is an author, composer, and has written music for the<br />
“Blue and Red” program on the Internet.<br />
Richard BelcheR - Violoncelle / Cello, Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet<br />
Membre fondateur du Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet, Richard est originaire de Nouvelle Zélande. Il<br />
prend beaucoup de plaisir à enseigner et à jouer en parcourant l’Amérique du Nord. Mais il<br />
est occupé en grande partie à tourner et à enregistrer des CD à succès avec le Enso <strong>St</strong>ring<br />
Quartet. Il est Violoncelliste principal du River Oaks Chamber Orchestra et joue réguliè-rement<br />
pour <strong>Music</strong> in Context. Richard joue sur un Violoncelle N.F. Vuillaume de 1856.<br />
Richard, a founding member of the Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet is a native of New Zealand. He enjoys<br />
teaching and playing on various series throughout North America. Much of his time is taken<br />
with the Enso Quartet, touring and producing highly successful recordings. He is Principal Cellist of the River Oaks Chamber<br />
Orchestra and a regular performer for <strong>Music</strong> in Context. Richard plays on a N.F. Vuillaume cello made in 1856.
Sergei BReSleR - Violon / Violin, Jerusalem <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet<br />
Sergei Bresler a commencé à jouer du violon à 5 ans et il a donné son premier récital à l’âge<br />
de 12 ans et cette même année il a joué le Concerto pour violon No2 de Wieniawski avec le<br />
Kharkov Symphony Orchestra. Il a reçu au fil des années de nombreux prix et étant étudiant<br />
au sein de la Jerusalem <strong>Music</strong> Academy il a participé à de nombreux festivals et master<br />
classes avec de grands musiciens tel que Isaac <strong>St</strong>ern. Professeur de Musique de Chambre,<br />
Sergei donne des master classes lors de grandes rencontres musicales. Il joue sur un violon<br />
Lorenzo <strong>St</strong>orioni de 1770.<br />
At the age of 5 Sergei Bresler started to play violin, giving his first recital at age 12 and then played that same year with<br />
the Kharkov Symphony Orchestra, the Wieniawski Violin Concerto No 2. Over the years he has won several prizes and<br />
as a student at the Jerusalem <strong>Music</strong> Academy participated in festivals and master classes with prominent musicians<br />
like Issac <strong>St</strong>ern. As a chamber music teacher, Sergei has given master classes in many famous venues. He plays on a<br />
1770 Lorenzo <strong>St</strong>orioni Violin.<br />
Phillip BuSh - Piano<br />
Phillip Bush est né dans le New Jersey. Il a étudié au Conservatoire Peabody puis au Banff<br />
Centre du Canada. Il a passé la majeure partie de sa carrière à New York mais il a également<br />
enseigné à l’université du Michigan et de Caroline du Sud où il vit actuellement. Phillip a joué<br />
au Metropolitan Museum of Art et au Carnegie Hall. Il a également participé à de nombreux<br />
festival de musique de chambre aux Etats Unis et il a joué avec des ensembles connus de musique<br />
contemporaine tel que celui de Philip Glass. Phillip Bush a reçu de nombreux prix et<br />
récompenses pour sa participation dans la musique contemporaine américaine.<br />
Phillip Bush was born in New Jersey and studied at the Peabody Conservatory, followed by the Banff Centre School of<br />
Fine Arts, Canada. Most of his career was spent in New York City, before teaching at the University of Michigan, then<br />
Colombia South Carolina, where he lives today. Philip has performed as piano soloist at the Metropolitan Museum of<br />
Art and Carnegie Hall. He has also played at various chamber music festivals throughout the United <strong>St</strong>ates and collaborated<br />
with many major contemporary American instrumentalists, including the Philip Glass ensemble. Phillip Bush<br />
has earned many awards and grants for his contribution to American contemporary music.<br />
<strong>St</strong>efano cANuti - Basson, Fagot / Bassoon<br />
<strong>St</strong>ephano a commencé sa carrière de Basson principal avec l’Orchestre Maggio <strong>Music</strong>ale Fiorentino<br />
et l’Orchestre Symphonique de la RAI de Turin. Lorin Maazel l’a invité en 2002 à jouer<br />
pour le Symphonique Toscanini. Plus récemment, il s’est produit en tant que soliste avec l’Orchestre<br />
Mahler conduit par Claudio Abbado. Il est actuellement professeur et président de<br />
Basson au Conservatoire de Musique Mantova en Italie, au Conservatoire de Caracas au Vénézuela<br />
et il a été en 2006 professeur adjoint du Royal Northern College à Manchester en Angleterre.<br />
Il est actuellement chef d’Orchestre du Neue Akademie en Italie.<br />
<strong>St</strong>efano began his professional career as principal bassoon for the Maggio <strong>Music</strong>ale Fiorentino Orchestra and the RAI<br />
Orchestra of Torino. In 2002, Lorin Maazel invited him to play principal bassoon for the Symphonica Toscanini, and recently<br />
he appeared as a soloist with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. Currently he is professor<br />
and bassoon chair at the Mantova Conservatory of <strong>Music</strong> in Italy, the Caracas Conservatory in Venezuela, and in<br />
2006 was appointed professor at the Royal Northern College of <strong>Music</strong> in Manchester, England. Now he is conductor of<br />
the Neue Akademie in Bozen Italy.<br />
lucie clemeNt - Danseuse / Dancer<br />
Lucie Clement a étudié à l’Ecole de danse de l’Opéra de Paris. Engagée dans le corps de ballet<br />
en 1991, elle est promue Coryphée en 1992 et participe depuis aux principales productions<br />
de l’Opéra : La Bayadère, Giselle, Raymonda, Don Quichotte, Le lac des cygnes, La Sylphide,<br />
Cendrillon.<br />
Lucie Clement studied at eh Opera de Paris. She was first hired in the corps de ballet, then<br />
promoted to Coryphee, and participated since then the principal productions of La Bayadere,<br />
Giselle, Raymonda, Don Quichotte, Swan Lake, La Sylphide, and Cendrillon.<br />

Jean-Sébastien colAu - Danseur / Dancer<br />
Jean-Sébastien a étudié à l’Ecole de l’Opéra de Paris. Engagé à l’Opéra de Paris (1996-2002),<br />
au National Ballet of Canada (2002-2005), au Leipzig Ballet (2005-2010) et à l’Opéra de Nice<br />
depuis 2010. Il a dansé des ballets de Noureev, Petipa, Balanchine, Béjart et bien d’autres<br />
encore. Jean-Sébastien Colau est invité régulièrement comme soliste dans les principaux<br />
théâtres en Europe, EUA et Canada. En septembre 2011 il était soliste de la création de David<br />
Bombana, « Medea », au Teatro Petruzzelli de Bari en Italie, à côté d’Eleonora Abbagnato.<br />
Jean-Sebastien Colau studied at the Opera de Paris. He danced at the Opera de Paris, then the National Ballet of Canada,<br />
then at the Leipzig Ballet. He returned France and to the Opera de Nice in 2010. He is regularly invited as a soloist in<br />
the principal theaters in Europe, United <strong>St</strong>ates, and Canada. In September 2011 he soloed in the création of David Bombana’s<br />
production of Medea in Italy as a Partner with Eleonora Abbagnato.<br />
Paul coletti - Violon Alto / Viola<br />
Paul Coletti est un éminent soliste alto et musicien de musique de chambre. Né en Ecosse,<br />
il a étudié au Royal Scottish Academy, au Menuhin <strong>Music</strong> Academy, au Banff Centre et à<br />
l’Ecole Julliard. Paul s’est produit à travers le monde avec des concerts au Sydney Opera<br />
House, au Queen Elisabeth Hall (Londres), au Théâtre Colon (Buenos Aires) et il a joué sous<br />
la direction de Yehudi Menuhin le concerto pour violon alto de Bartok. Il enseigne le violon<br />
alto et la musique de chambre au Conservatoire Colburn de Los Angeles.<br />
Paul Coletti is a prominent viola soloist and chamber musician. He was born in Scotland and<br />
studied at The Royal Scottish Academy, the Menuhin <strong>Music</strong> Academy, the Banff Center and the Juilliard School. Paul<br />
has performed throughout the world, making solo appearances at the Sydney Opera House, Queen Elizabeth Hall (London),<br />
the Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires) and has performed Bartok’s Viola Concerto with Yehudi Menuhin conducting. He<br />
currently teaches viola and chamber music at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles..<br />
Bernard couRtot - Danseur / Dancer<br />
Bernard Courtot a étudié au Conservatoire de Région de Toulouse et au CNSMD de Paris où<br />
il obtient un Premier Prix. Il reçoit la médaille d’or et le Prix Noureev au 7ème Concours International<br />
de Moscou au Théâtre du Bolchoï. Il a travaillé pour l’Opéra de Paris, le Ballet<br />
Royal Danois, le San Francisco Ballet, l’English National Ballet, le Miami City Ballet et bien<br />
d’autres encore. Ses créations sont appréciées à travers le monde et produites en particulier<br />
par le Ballet Royal Danois, les ballets de Moscou, du Canada et de Londres.<br />
Bernard Courtot studied at the Conservatory in Toulouse and in Paris where he was awarded<br />
first prize. I received the gold medal and the Noureev prize in the International competition of Moscow at the Bolchoï.<br />
He worked for the Opera de Paris, the Royal Danish Ballet, the San Francisco Ballet, The English National Ballet, the<br />
Miami City Ballet, and more. His creations are appreciated and produced by the Royal Danish Ballet, and in Moscow,<br />

Nicholas dANiel - Hautbois, Chef d’Ochestre / Oboe, Conductor<br />
Nicholas Daniel est l’un des grands solistes et chef d’orchestre du Royaume Uni. Il a étudié à<br />
l’Ecole Purcell et au Royal Academy of <strong>Music</strong>. Il a gagné plusieurs prix comme le concours du<br />
Jeune musicien de l’année de la BBC. Nicholas a été soliste de nombreux orchestres internationaux<br />

Frances deBRoFF - Violon / Violin<br />
Frances vit une partie de l’année à <strong>St</strong> Barth depuis quarante ans. Elle est présidente et co-fondatrice<br />
du <strong>Festival</strong> de Musique de Saint Barthélémy. Anciennement présidente de l’Association<br />
Symphonique de Pittsburg, elle préside aujourd’hui la Société de Musique de Chambre de cette<br />
ville. Elle a été pendant longtemps très active au sein du Symphonique de la jeunesse de Pittsburg.<br />
Elle a été chargée avec Morton Gold de composer deux œuvres destinées au jeune public<br />
qui ont été jouées au niveau international. Elle fait partie du Pittsburg Opéra Orchestra. Elle a<br />
reçu en Janvier dernier la Médaille du Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.<br />
For the past fourty years Frances has lived part time on <strong>St</strong>. Barth. She co-founded, and is president of the Saint Barth<br />

« Songe d’une nuit d’été » et mis en scène et chorégraphié « Le Ruban » à Singapour. Avec<br />
le musicien Lacquer, il a créé « They are… » pour l’anniversaire de l’école Montessori de Paris,<br />
dont la suite sera dansée au <strong>Festival</strong> de Musique de Saint Barthélemy…<br />
Gergory studied at the Opera de Paris School. He was hired in 1998 at the Opera de Paris and<br />

alors qu’il faisait partie du Menuhin <strong>Festival</strong> Piano Quartet. Il participe depuis régulièrement<br />
à notre <strong>Festival</strong>. Au milieu des années quatre-vingt dix, membre du Typhon Quartet, sa carrière<br />
l’entraine au Japon où il donne de nombreux concerts radiophoniques et télévisés. Il a<br />
enregistré plusieurs CD et DVD en live. Francis est Violoncelliste principal du <strong>St</strong>uttgart Opéra<br />
Orchestra et professeur du Musikhochschule de Trossingen en Allemagne. Il joue sur un Domenico<br />
Montagnana fabriqué en 1734.<br />
A chamber musician and soloist, Francis performs and gives master classes worldwide. He first came to the festival in<br />
1995, as part of the Menuhin Piano Quartet and has been a regular participant since then. In the mid-ninety’s his career<br />
took him to Japan as a member of the Typhoon Quartet where they performed and recorded many concerts, CDs, live<br />
DVDs plus radio and television shows. Francis is principal cellist for the <strong>St</strong>uttgart Opera Orchestra and professor at the<br />
Musikhochschule in Trossingen, Germany. He plays a Domenico Montagnana Cello made in 1734.<br />

Denyce Graves is an internationally recognized mezzo-soprano. She graduated from the Duke<br />
Ellington School of Arts and her career has since taken her to the world's great opera houses and concert halls, including<br />
the Metropolitan Opera, The Royal Opera House, Opera National de Paris and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Denyce has<br />
appeared on television and radio programs, and has sung at several presidential inaugurations, ceremonies and memorials,<br />
including the 2011 Concert for Hope at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.<br />

Nitzan hAR’oz - Trombone / Trombone<br />
Nitzan est né et a grandi en Israël. En s’engageant dans l’armée il a servi pendant trois ans l’Orchestre<br />
des Forces de Défense israéliennes, il a ensuite rejoint l’orchestre symphonique Rishon<br />
Le Zion. Il a été également membre du symphonique de Jérusalem et du Brass Ensemble d’Israël.<br />
Il a intégré l’Ecole Julliard et il est depuis 1995 Trombone principal du Philadelphia Orchestra.<br />
Nitzan et sa mère, harpiste professionnelle, jouent ensemble au Congrès international<br />
de Harpe en France (des duos spécialement écrits à cet effet).<br />
Born and raised in Israel, Nitzan enlisted in the army, and after serving three years in the Israel<br />
Defense Forces Orchestra, he joined the Rishon Le Zion Opera and Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the Jerusalem<br />
Symphony and the Israeli Brass Ensemble. He attended the Juilliard School, and has been principal trombone<br />
for the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1995. Nitzan and his mother, a professional harpist, perform together (especially<br />
duets they have commissioned) at the International Harp Congress in France.<br />

After his debut at the age of 16 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta, Ori Kam has<br />

is an avid chamber music performer including violist of the Naumburg award winning Whitman <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet. He has<br />
been the winner of several awards and prizes including the Swiss Prize at the Geneva Int’l <strong>Music</strong> Competition and the<br />

Alex kleiN - Hautbois et Chef d’Orchestre / Oboe and Conductor<br />

principal du Symphonique de Chicago de 1995 à 2004, son enregistrement du Concerto pour<br />
Hautbois de <strong>St</strong>rauss avec Daniel Barenboim a remporté en 2002 le Grammy Award du meilleur<br />
soliste avec Orchestre. Il est diplômé du Conservatoire Oberlin où il est professeur d’hautbois.<br />
Il a été nommé récemment directeur artistique de l’Opéra de San Paulo et Chef d’orchestre du<br />
Symphonique de San Paulo.<br />
Alex began his musical studies in his native Brazil at age nine and made his solo orchestral debut the following year. He<br />
made his conducting debut at fourteen, and at sixteen, was assistant conductor of the Pro <strong>Music</strong>a Choir of Curitiba.<br />
Principal oboe for the Chicago Symphony from 1995 to 2004, his recording of the <strong>St</strong>rauss Oboe Concerto won the 2002<br />
Grammy Award for best instrumental soloist with orchestra. He graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory and is on the<br />
faculty there. He was recently named artistic and programming director for the Sao Paulo Opera and chief conductor of<br />
the Sao Paulo Symphony.<br />

Brian lewiS - Violon / Violin<br />
Brian a commencé à jouer du violon à quatre ans avec la méthode Suzuki et s’est rendu par<br />

Brian began playing the violin in the Suzuki <strong>St</strong>rings Program at age four and twice traveled to<br />
Japan to study with Dr. Suzuki at the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto. He holds both<br />
bachelor and master of music degrees from the Juilliard School. An advocate for music education, he frequently presents<br />
concerts, workshops and master classes for young musicians, and currently teaches at the University of Texas Austin<br />
School of <strong>Music</strong>. This past year he became a visiting guest professor at the Yale School of <strong>Music</strong>. He has appeared here<br />
every year since 1992.
Jeffrey lymAN - Fagot / Bassoon<br />
Historien et professeur reconnu, Jeff est aujourd’hui professeur adjoint de Basson à l’Université<br />
du Michigan d’où il a lui-même reçu son doctorat et son master. Il a donné des masters<br />
classes et divers récitals à l’Université McGill, celle de Californie du Sud, à l’Institut Curtis et<br />
à l’Ecole de Musique Eastman. Il joue chaque année à l’International Double Reed Society<br />
Conference dont il est souvent l’auteur de leurs publications. Son projet le plus récent est une<br />
étude sur l’histoire du Basson au Mexique.<br />
A well-known teacher and historian, Jeff is currently associate professor of bassoon and chairman<br />
of the winds and percussion department at the University of Michigan where he received his master’s and doctorate<br />
degrees. As an advocate for new music, he has commissioned new works by Yuri Kasparov, John <strong>St</strong>einmetz and Kathryn<br />
Hoover. He performs annually at the conference of the International Double Reed Society and, as an author, is a frequent<br />
contributor to their publications. His most recent project is a survey and history of the bassoon in Mexico.<br />
Jon mANASSe - Clarinette / Clarinet<br />
Jon est actuellement clarinette principal des orchestres American Ballet Theater, Mostly<br />
Mozart <strong>Festival</strong> et du Saint Luke de New York. Il a été également durant plusieurs saisons<br />
clarinette principal du Symphonique New York Chamber. En 1997, Jon a joué pour les premières<br />

Elle a été soliste de l’Ensemble Symphonique de New York lors de leur tournée au Japon et<br />
en Asie du Sud. Pamela a passé sa licence et son master de musique à l’Ecole Julliard. Elle<br />
est actuellement à la Faculté de l’école pour cordes, au College for <strong>Music</strong> Mannes et à Collegiate<br />
School, tous situés à New York. Depuis 2002, elle intervient activement dans le programme<br />

A chamber musician and soloist, Francis performs and gives master classes worldwide. He first<br />
came to the festival in 1995, as part of the Menuhin Piano Quartet and has been a regular participant since then. In the<br />
mid-ninety’s his career took him to Japan as a member of the Typhoon Quartet where they performed and recorded many<br />
concerts, CDs, live DVDs plus radio and television shows. Francis is principal cellist for the <strong>St</strong>uttgart Opera Orchestra and<br />
professor at the Musikhochschule in Trossingen, Germany. He plays a Domenico Montagnana Cello made in 1734.<br />
John mARcuS - Violon / Violin, Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet<br />
John a donné son premier concert publique à neuf ans à Salzburg et c’est à quinze ans, gagnant<br />
du Concours de Violon Julliard, qu’il joue au Lincoln Center. Né à New York, il obtient d’abord<br />
son diplôme Pre-College Division, puis sa licence et enfin son Master de Musique de l’Ecole<br />
Julliard. John joue beaucoup en tant que soliste et musicien de musique de chambre à travers<br />
les USA et l’Europe.<br />
John gave his first public performance at the age of nine in Salzburg and at age fifteen, as the<br />
winner of the Julliard Violin Competition, he performed at Lincoln Center. John is a native<br />
New Yorker and Julliard graduate winning his Pre-College Division Diploma, his Bachelor of <strong>Music</strong> and his Master of<br />
<strong>Music</strong> degrees there. John performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the US and Europe.<br />

Jason mARSAliS - Percussions, John Ellis Band<br />
Jason a commencé sa profession de percussionniste à quatorze ans et a étudié les percussions<br />
classiques au sein de l’Université Loyola. Il est le plus jeune d’une famille de musiciens très<br />
connus à la Nouvelle Orléans avec son père Ellis et ses frères Wynton, Branford et Delfeayo<br />
.Plus récemment, il joue du vibraphone et a réalisé son premier album intitulé« <strong>Music</strong> Update<br />
» en tant que leader vibraphoniste en 2009. En 2011, la famille Marsalis a reçu du National<br />
Endowment for the Arts, le Jazz Masters Award.<br />
Jason began playing drums professionally at age fourteen and studied classical percussion<br />
at Loyola University. He is the youngest member of the famous New Orleans musical family that includes his father Ellis<br />
and brothers Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo. Most recently, Jason has been playing vibraphone. In 2009, he released<br />
his first album as leader on the vibes entitled “<strong>Music</strong> Update” .Marsalis, with his father and brothers, are group recipients<br />
of the 2011NEA Jazz Masters Award.<br />

Chris Martin a obtenu son diplôme du Eastman School of <strong>Music</strong> de Rochester à New York.<br />
Après avoir été Associé principal de l’Orchestre de Philadelphie, il a été aussi, pendant cinq<br />
ans, celui de l’Orchestre Symphonique d’Atlanta. Chris a été l’invité trompettiste principal<br />
de plusieurs orchestres aux Etats Unis et a participé à divers festivals. Il a joué pour de nombreux<br />
enregistrements incluant le Grammy Award winner avec l’Orchestre Symphonique<br />
d’Atlanta. Chris occupe aujourd’hui la position de trompette principale qui porte le nom du<br />
grand Adolph Herseth, de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Chicago.<br />
Chris Martin graduated from the Eastman School of <strong>Music</strong> in Rochester, New York, with a degree in trumpet performance.<br />
He was the associate principal with the Philadelphia Orchestra, followed by five years as principal for the Atlanta Symphony<br />

part in various music festivals. He has played on many recordings including a Grammy Award-winner with the Atlanta Symphony<br />
Orchestra. Chris currently holds the Adolph Herseth Principal Trumpet chair of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.<br />

Le Maestro Mercurio a dirigé plus de quarante cinq différents opéras dans six langues différentes.<br />
On peut inclure à son répertoire nombre de grands opéras italiens ; et aux USA, il a dirigé ceux de<br />
San Francisco, Philadelphie et Dallas. Au niveau international, il a dirigé le Théâtre de la Monnaie<br />
à Bruxelles, le English National Opéra et l’Opéra de Bonn. En plus de son propre Orchestre Spoleto<br />
<strong>Festival</strong>, il a également conduit le Sinfonietta et le Philharmonique de Londres, les orchestres symphoniques<br />
du Luxembourg et de Vienne. Il a écrit des arrangements pour beaucoup d’artistes tels<br />

Maestro Mercurio has conducted more than forty-five different operas in six different languages. His engagements include<br />
many Italian opera houses and his American appearances include the opera companies of Dallas, San Francisco, and Philadelphia.<br />
Other international engagements have been at the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the English National and<br />
the Bonn Opera. He has conducted the London Philharmonic, the Luxembourg and Vienna symphonies in addition to his<br />
own Spoleto <strong>Festival</strong> Orchestra. He writes arrangements for such artists as Andrea Bocelli and Placido Domingo. <strong>St</strong>even<br />
was last year on an international tour conducting <strong>St</strong>ing for his concert “Symphonicities” with the Royal Philharmonic.<br />
Sarah Joy milleR-kABANuck - Soprane / Soprano<br />
Alors étudiante à l’Université de Californie, elle est arrivée finaliste des auditions du Metropolitan<br />
Opéra et du Concours Artist of the future de Los Angeles. Durant le dernier semestre de<br />

While attending California <strong>St</strong>ate University, she was Los Angeles district finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Council auditions<br />
and a finalist in the Los Angeles Artist of the Future competition. In her last semester of college, she was cast as “Mimi” in Baz<br />
Luhrmann’s version of La Boheme and reprised this role at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. Other roles include “Fiordiligi”<br />
in Cosi Fan Tuti and “Queen of the night” in The Magic Flute. Sarah Joy is currently a member of the group Three Graces<br />

Having established his reputation as a highly accomplished chamber musician and soloist, Alexander<br />
Pavlovsky has performed with many orchestras and appears regularly in recitals in Israel and Europe. Winner of the<br />
Ilona Kornhauser Award and first prize of the Braun-Roger-Ziegel National Competition, he has since 2008 been a faculty<br />
member at the Jerusalem Academy of <strong>Music</strong> and Dance and is Artistic Director of the Zeist Chamber <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> and<br />
master classes in the Netherlands. Mr. Pavlovsky plays a J.F. Pressenda violin dating from 1824.<br />
Jessica PhilliPS - Clarinette / Clarinet<br />
Jessica Phillips est diplômée de l’Université de Columbia et de L’Ecole de Musique de Manhattan.<br />
Elle rejoint l’Orchestre du Metropolitan Opéra en 2001. Jessica a tourné avec cet Orchestre<br />
à travers l’Asie et l’Europe mais aussi avec l’American Symphony Orchestra et le<br />
MET Chamber Ensemble. Elle a joué également avec des chefs d’orchestres mondialement<br />
connus tel que Sir Simon Rattle. On peut écouter ses oeuvres sur différents DVD et émissions<br />
de radio et de télévision. Jessica travaille en faculté incluant la Julliard School.<br />
Jessica Phillips graduated from Columbia University and the Manhattan School of <strong>Music</strong>. She joined the Metropolitan<br />
Opera Orchestra in 2001 and was later appointed Acting Principal for two seasons. Jessica has toured across Asia and<br />
Europe with the Metropolitan Opera and also performed with many other orchestral and chamber ensembles, including<br />
the American Symphony Orchestra and the MET Chamber Ensemble. She has also worked with some of the world’s<br />
most esteemed conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle. She can be heard on many DVD, radio and televised broadcast<br />
recordings. Jessica serves on university faculties, including The Juilliard School.<br />
melissa ReARdoN - Violon Alto / Viola, Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet<br />
Les mots pour définir la personnalité de Melissa sont souvent « élégance », « virtuose » «<br />
musicienne aux multiples talents »….Elle est la seule altiste à avoir remporté des premiers<br />
grands prix de la HAMS International Viola Competition et le premier prix du Concours International<br />
de Washington. Melissa est membre fondatrice du East Coast Chamber Orchestra<br />
et c’est une musicienne dont la collaboration est très recherchée. Elle est depuis peu le nouveau<br />
membre du Enso <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet.<br />
When describing Melissa people use words like “elegant”, “virtuosic”-Classical Voice…a versatile<br />
performer. She is the only violist to win top prizes in consecutive HAMS International Viola Competitions and was<br />
1st prize winner of the Washington International Competition. Melissa is a founding member of the East Coast Chamber<br />
Orchestra and a sought-after collaborative musician. Recently Melissa has become the newest member of the Enso<br />
<strong>St</strong>ring Quartet.
Reuben RogeRS - Jazz Basse, John Ellis Quartet<br />
Reuben Rogers est natif des Iles Vierges Américaines (<strong>St</strong> Thomas). Il a obtenu sa licence de<br />
musique au Berklee College de Boston. Il a joué entre autres avec Roy Hargrove, Wynton Marsalis,<br />
Joshua Redman, Marcus Roberts et Nicholas Payton. En tournée dans le monde entier,<br />
il a déjà enregistré plus de 70 albums. Lorsqu’il est sur son île, il enseigne dans différents ateliers<br />
de musique et organise des concerts pour récolter des fonds au bénéfice de l’éducation<br />
pour les jeunes insulaires.<br />
Reuben Rogers is a native of the Virgin Islands (<strong>St</strong>. Thomas). He received his Bachelor’s degree<br />
from the Berklee College of <strong>Music</strong> in Boston. He has performed with Roy Hargrove, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman,<br />
Marcus Roberts, and Nicholas Payton among others. He tours extensively all over the globe, and has recorded on over<br />
70 CDs. While in the Virgin Islands he conducts music workshops in local schools and organizes fundraising concerts<br />
that benefit the education of today’s island youth.<br />
Philip RoSS - Hautbois / Oboe<br />

Eric est un joueur de cor internationalement connu dont la carrière débute à vingt ans lorsqu’il<br />

Eric is an internationally renowned French horn player whose solo career began at the age of twenty when he was<br />
named the associate principal horn player with the Cleveland Orchestra. He has won several awards including first<br />
prize in the 1987 American Horn Competition, and the highest prize in the 1988 Concours International d'Interprétation<br />
<strong>Music</strong>ale in France. Eric has performed as a soloist with many orchestras across America, including the Cleveland Orchestra<br />
and the Baltimore, Indianapolis and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestras. He has been a Professor of Horn at<br />
Boston University since 1990.<br />
yann SAiz - Danseur / Dancer<br />
Yann Saiz a étudié à l’Ecole de danse de l’Opéra de Paris. Engagé dans le corps de ballet en<br />
1992, il est promu Coryphée en 1994 et Sujet en 1996. En 1999 il reçoit le prix AROP. Yann a<br />
déjà dansé pour le <strong>Festival</strong> de <strong>St</strong> Barthélémy. Il a participé aux principales productions de<br />
l’Opéra de Paris des chorégraphes tels que Preljocaj, Nijinsky, Neumeier, Noureev, Béjart,<br />
Petit, Mac Millan, Robbins et Carlsson…<br />
Yann Saiz studied at the Opera de Paris. He was hired for the corps de ballet, and promoted to<br />
Coryphee and then to Subject. He has received the AROP prize. Yann has performed in <strong>St</strong>.<strong>Barts</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>. He has<br />
participated in many of the Opera de Paris productions including Works choreographed by Noureev, Bejart, Petit, Nijinsky,<br />

Charles a été reçu à l’Institut Curtis de Musique à quatorze ans où il a obtenu sa licence et a<br />

Opera Orchestra , du New West Symphonique et de l’Académie de Musique de l’Ouest en Californie.<br />
Il préside également la section cordes et il est directeur des programmes d’orchestre<br />
de l’Université Duquesne. Il a fondé en 1987 le Sunflower <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> de Topeka au Kansas.1990<br />
a été marqué par ses premières interprétations pour notre <strong>Festival</strong> et cela fera sa<br />
vingtième édition.<br />
Charles was accepted into the Curtis Institute of <strong>Music</strong> at age fourteen where he received his bachelor’s degree, and<br />
continued on to a master’s degree from the Juilliard School. He is currently concertmaster for the Pittsburgh Opera<br />
Orchestra as well as the New West Symphony and the <strong>Music</strong> Academy of the West both in California. He is also chairman<br />
of strings and director of orchestral training at Duquesne University. In 1987 he founded the Sunflower <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong><br />
in Topeka Kansas.1990 marked his first appearance here at the <strong>Festival</strong> and this will be his twentieth season. .<br />
mark timmeRmAN - Fagot / Bassoon<br />
Mark Timmerman est membre de l’Orchestre Symphonique du New Jersey et a été durant toute<br />
une saison Basson principal du Metropolitan Opéra de New York. Il est diplômé de l’Institut Curtis<br />
de Musique de Philadelphie mais il a également étudié à l’Université Temple et du Michigan.<br />
Mark a joué avec différents Orchestres à travers les Etats Unis comme le Philharmonique de<br />

Mark Timmerman is a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and spent a season<br />
Principal Bassoon of the Metropolitan Opera, New York. He graduated from The Curtis Institute of <strong>Music</strong> in Philadelphia<br />
and also studied at Temple University and the University of Michigan. Mark has performed with orchestras across the<br />
United <strong>St</strong>ates, including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony<br />
and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He has also played the bassoon in several international music festivals.<br />
Josefina veRgARA - Violon / Violin<br />
Née au Chili, Josefina a eu son diplôme de musique à l’Université d’Indianna et a joué avec<br />
l’Indianna Chamber Orchestra. Elle a reçu le premier prix de l’International Chamber <strong>Music</strong><br />
d’Osaka et du concours Pasadena. Elle a rejoint le Chamber Orchestra de Los Angeles en 1999<br />
comme deuxième violon principal et se produit désormais en soliste avec cet orchestre. Elle<br />
a participé à de nombreux <strong>Festival</strong>s : Aspen, Tanglewood, Santa Fe, Schleswig-Holstein et<br />
Villa <strong>Music</strong>a en Allemagne. Elle a tourné en Europe et en Asie avec l’ensemble de Jazz Uri<br />
Caine.<br />
JA native of Chile, Josefina earned her music degree at Indiana University and performed with the Indiana Chamber<br />
Orchestra. She was a prize-winner in the Osaka International Chamber <strong>Music</strong> and Pasadena Instrumental Competitions.<br />
She joined the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in 1999 as their principal second violin and has since appeared as soloist<br />
with them. She participates in many festivals including Aspen, Tanglewood, Santa Fe, Schleswig-Holstein and Villa <strong>Music</strong>a<br />
in Germany. She toured Europe and Asia with Uri Caine’s Jazz Ensemble.<br />

Brad Whitford a rejoint le Groupe de rock Aerosmith en 1971 qui sera le groupe rock le plus<br />

Brad Whitford has been a part of the band Aerosmith since 1971 which would go on to be one of the most successful<br />

100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2007.<br />

until joining the Boston Symphony in 1991. His performances have been broadcast on National Public Radio and<br />
he has frequently played in concert with singer/songwriter James Taylor. He is currently active in Project STEP (<strong>St</strong>ring<br />
Training and Education Program for <strong>St</strong>udents of Color). This is Owen’s twentieth year at the <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>.<br />

Laure Zanchi a étudié au Conservatoire Régional de Nice, à l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure de<br />
danse de Marseille et à l’Ecole du Royal Ballet de Londres. Engagée au English National Ballet<br />
(2000-2001), au Bayerische <strong>St</strong>aatsoper à Munich (2001-2003), au Ballet de l’Opéra de Nice, Ballet<br />
de la Méditerranée (2003-2010). Elle a dansé, entre autres, des ballets de Neumeier, Balanchine<br />
et Christie. En 2008, Laure Zanchi présente sa première pièce chorégraphique «<br />
Nébuleuse » pour cinq danseurs à la Soirée Jeune Chorégraphes à l’Opéra de Nice.<br />
Laure Zanchi studied at the Regional Conservatory of Nice, at the National Superior school of<br />
dance of Marseille and at the Royal Ballet school of London. She danced at English Ballet, then Bayerische <strong>St</strong>aatsoper,<br />
the Opera Ballet of Nice, and now Ballet of the Mediteranean. She has danced the ballets of Neumeier, Balanchine,<br />
Christie, and others. In 2008 she danced the premier performance of « Nebuleuse » in Nice.<br />
kyril zlotNikov - Violoncelle / Cello, Jerusalem <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet<br />
Membre fondateur et créateur artistique du Jerusalem <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet, Kyril vient d’une famille<br />
de musiciens professionnels. Il a reçu de grands prix lors de nombreux concours incluant ceux<br />
de Clairmont, de Braun-Roger-Siegl et de Pierre Tarcali et il a étudié avec des musiciens connus.<br />
Kyril est régulièrement invité dans les plus importants <strong>Festival</strong>s de Musique de Chambre et il<br />
est soliste d’orchestres internationalement renommés. Il joue sur un violoncelle Servio Peression<br />
de 1970, prêté par le Maestro Daniel Barenboim. Il a enregistré avec ce dernier, accompagné<br />
de Nikolaj Znaider, l’intégrale du Trio pour piano de Mozart.<br />
As a founding member of the artistically creative, Jerusalem Quartet, Kyril Zlotnikov comes from a family of professional<br />
musicians. He has won prizes in many contests including the Clairmont Competition, The Braun-Roger-Siegl Competition<br />
and the Pierre Tarcali Prize and has studied with prominent musicians. Kyril is a regular guest at major chamber music<br />
festivals, and a soloist with internationally renowned orchestras. He plays a 1970 Servio Peression cello loaned by Maestro<br />
Daniel Barenboim and recorded the complete Mozart piano trios with him and Nikolaj Znaider.<br />

à cordes du moment. Le Jerusalem Quartet s’est distingué<br />

équilibre établit entre ses membres musiciens.<br />
Avec une réputation grandissante ils ne cessent de<br />
multiplier les rencontres musicales à travers le<br />
monde. Ils ont tourné en Amérique du Nord mais<br />
aussi au Royaume Uni avec un programme sur l’œuvre<br />
de Schuman accompagné du pianiste Alexander<br />
Melnikov avec lequel ils ont produit un nouveau CD.<br />

One of most dynamic and exciting young quartets currently performing, The Jerusalem <strong>St</strong>ring Quartet is<br />

the players becomes an inspiring, well-matched ensemble of musicians playing venues throughout<br />
the world. With a growing reputation in North America, they will tour there and in the UK with a Schuman<br />
