3 Innovation - Solvay Plastics

Processors, additive and resin producers, machinery
manufacturers, researchers and recyclers, the entire
PVC production chain mobilized in 2004 to take
part in the 2 nd SolVin Award for PVC Innovation.
108 entries in all were received for innovations which
improve existing applications or processes, offer increased
safety or high economic potential, are especially original
and/or contribute to PVC’s positive image or sustainable
development. These were then examined by a panel of
independent judges (see page 4).
A big round of thanks to all participants who made this
unique initiative a success to be proud of. This initiative
clearly states SolVin’s determination to be the Partner in
Vinyls. Encouraging innovation in PVC and presenting it to
Wave 10

New responsibilities
At the end of December 2004, Nicolas-Paul Neu took over
from David Thompson (who has become CEO of EVC Films)
as Chairman of the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers
(ECVM). Mr Neu’s experience of the entire PVC vinyl chain
will make him an effective representative of our industry, in
particular towards the European Union.
