After visiting St. James of Romita’s
church of the black Friars’ Convent,
you can walk to the Eremo della
Romita Street, which goes up to
Cupramontana. Before reaching the
iron cross on the right, which
announces to the visitors the
proximity of the convent, take a
narrow gravel road to the left. We
pass Saint-James’ source , formerly
called Fons Avacellorum or Fonte
delle Mandriole, because this
territory was used for grazing
("mandria" means "herd"). We
continue to a mechanic workshop;
there, you have to leave the gravel
road to take a path on the left,
which is next to a small vineyard.
We walk a few minutes on the
grass; a small wooden sign indicates
"EREMO" and the opposite
direction: "SAN GIOVANNI". We are
at the wood entrance of the white
Friars.
Après avoir visité l’ église de Saint-
Jacques de la Romita du couvent des
Frères noirs, on peut prendre à pied
Rue Eremo della Romita, qui monte
vers Cupramontana. Avant d’arriver à
la croix en fer qu’on voit à droite et qui
annonce aux visiteurs la proximité du
couvent, on prend une étroite route de
gravier à gauche. On passe devant la
source de Saint-Jacques, autrefois
appelée Fons Avacellorum ou Fonte
delle Mandriole, parce que ce territoire
a été utilisé pour le pâturage
(“mandria” signifie «troupeau»). On
continue jusqu’à un atelier de
réparation automobile; là, on doit
quitter la route de gravier pour
prendre à gauche un chemin qui côtoie
un petit vignoble. On marche quelques
minutes sur l’herbe; un petit panneau
en bois indique “EREMO” et la
direction opposée: “SAN GIOVANNI”.
On est à l’entrée de la forêt des Frères
blancs.
