Description

AWS now provides libraries, sample code, tutorials, and other

resources for software developers who prefer to build applications

using .NET language-specific APIs instead of REST or SOAP. For

more information, see Programming Languages (p. 31).

Created a separate API Reference for Amazon SQS.

Added ability to share queues, including support for anonymous

access. For more information, see Shared Queues (p. 29). Also

added an appendix to explain access policy language. For more

information, see Using The Access Policy Language (p. 32).

The SQS schema is now inline in the WSDL. There is no longer a

separate URL for the schema.

Added information about signature version 2, which is a more secure

method for signing Query requests. For more information, see Query

Request Authentication (p. 23).

Also updated the guide to indicate that HTTPS is required for SOAP

requests.

Added information about the AWS Support Center and AWS Premium

Support. For more information, see Amazon SQS Resources (p. 72).

Clarified that you can use HTTP or HTTPS with Query requests. For

more information, see Query Request Authentication (p. 23).

Updated the information about message retention time; the time has

changed from 15 to 4 days. Also added information about queues

that have had no activity for an extended period of time. For more

information, see About SQS Queues (p. 4).

Updated the information about the queue URL. For more information,

see Queue URLs (p. 6).

Updated the discussion of visibility timeout. For more information,

see Visibility Timeout (p. 8).

Updated the discussion of Query requests to include information

about making POST requests. For more information, see Making

Query Requests (p. 14).

Revised the information about authentication. Specifically, because

signature version 0 is no longer supported for Query request

authentication, we removed the information about signature version

0. For more information, see Query Request Authentication (p. 23).

For SOAP requests that don't use WS-Security, we updated the

information to indicate that HTTPS is now required, and updated the

information about where to include the authentication information in

the request.

Updated the information about the structure of a successful response

and of an error response. For more information, see

Responses (p. 27).
