Newton's colorful history encompasses many unique features not only was it one of the country's first railroad suburbs, Newton was home to the Stanley brothers of Steamerfame, to Gen. William Hull, whose reputation suffered during the War of 1812, and, briefly, to Horace Mann and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
