Designed as part of the Centenary of Canberra celebrations, Sean’s<br />

<strong>ACT</strong> Brooch is the ultimate Canberra memento. Forget the magnet<br />

Sean Booth grew up in Sydney, but later moved to Canberra to<br />

commence study, where he began his career as a metalsmith. In<br />

2002 Sean completed his undergraduate studies at The ANU<br />

School of Art in the Gold and Silversmithing workshop, and has<br />

recently established a workshop in the Canberra region.<br />

Katie-Ann Houghton completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney<br />

College of the Arts in 2011. At the end of 2013, Katie-Ann applied and<br />

was accepted into the competitive Associate Training Program at<br />

JamFactory in Adelaide. During the two-year program in the Glass<br />

Studio at JamFactory, Katie-Ann focused on developing distinct<br />

design elements and refined her craftsmanship. She gained<br />

invaluable skills from working with expert practitioners and the other<br />

Associates.<br />

Designed to fit perfectly in the user’s hand, each glass is hand<br />

blown, hand painted with gold lustre and fired in the kiln, leaving<br />

them a slightly warped cylinder.<br />

Available with a gold or silver rimmed trim and packaged in a kraft<br />

Ian Jones began working with clay as a student at the Australian<br />

National University School of Art. He then worked as an apprentice<br />

for the late Doug Alexander at Cuppacumbalong Pottery, <strong>ACT</strong> and<br />

set up his own studio at Gundaroo, NSW in 1979.<br />

In 1982 he purchased a ruined stone church, Old St Luke's Church,<br />

and with help of an Australia Council grant built a 14 metre long<br />

wood-kiln,<br />

company with an international reputation for producing world-class<br />

tableware, hollowware, jewellery and lighting. It was established by<br />

Robert Foster in 1993 with the aim of creating a design and<br />

manufacturing business to support and generate opportunities for<br />

Australian designer-makers.<br />

Each vase is crafted and finished by hand so every vase is unique.<br />

The angled opening and the organic silhouette of the vase creates<br />

a stunning sculptural piece - even without flowers! The tones can<br />

Harriet Schwarzrock has exhibited extensively throughout Australia<br />

and abroad. Her work is widely collected and she has been the<br />

recipient of numerous awards and prizes.<br />

She worked at the Canberra Glassworks in 2017 as the Creative<br />

Fellow, also supported by an Australia Council New Work Grant, to<br />

produce a neon installation for the 2018 Canberra Enlighten Festival.<br />

Harriet was awarded the 2018 Asia Link Toyama residency in Japan.<br />

In 2019 she thrilled to be the Proctor Fellow through the Glass<br />

Workshop travelling to the USA to study neon and plasma.<br />

F!NK + Co. was established by Robert Foster in 1993 in Queanbeyan,<br />

NSW, Australia, with the aim of creating a design and manufacturing<br />

business that would support and generate opportunities for<br />

Australian designer-makers. Joined by Gretel Harrison in 1995,<br />

together they built F!NK + Co. into the business it is today – a much<br />

loved and respected Australian design company with an<br />

international reputation for producing world-class tableware,<br />

hollowware, jewellery and lighting.<br />

The iconic F!NK jug is held in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.<br />

Chelsea Lemon is a Canberra-based designer and maker who<br />

works with timber. Many of her pieces include foliage and plant<br />

themes, mixed with interactivity and the decorative woodworking<br />

technique 'parquetry'.<br />

Chelsea's Canberra edition trays are handcrafted marquetry tray<br />

featuring Canberra landmarks. They are perfect as a display piece,<br />

Gaia is the Greek goddess of the Earth. This piece is made from<br />

shattered waste glass, fused together, finished with gold leaf and<br />

symbolises how we might work together to repair the Earth.<br />

Ngaio Fitzpatrick is an artist, Visiting Fellow with the ANU Climate<br />

Change Institute and recipient of a 2018 Australia Awards<br />

Endeavour Fellowship for four months in Berlin.<br />

Fitzpatrick’s interdisciplinary arts practice encompasses site specific<br />

installation, performance, video and recently, collaborative<br />

experimental music interactions in real time. With a background in<br />

environmentally sustainable architecture and building informing her<br />

practice, she is particularly interested in ways in which art can be<br />

used to draw attention to the human disconnection from Earth<br />

within the context of climate change<br />

A simple U of titanium with a coloured glass rod threaded through<br />

the top. Sometimes the simplest designs are the best.<br />

Blanche Tilden has created and exhibited contemporary jewellery,<br />

glass and design since 1990. She is a celebrated master of her<br />

trade, highly recognised and respected, nationally and<br />

internationally.<br />

‘During 25 years of practice in the fields, I have developed a unique<br />

visual and material vocabulary through an innovative use of glass<br />

Kirstie Rea is an internationally celebrated Canberra-based glass<br />

maker.<br />

Her signature glass blankets symbolise care, but also fragility.<br />

Kirstie Rea. Having established her studio in 1987, following her<br />

graduation from the Glass program at the Canberra School of Art,<br />

Kirstie has over the past 29 years continued to develop her practice<br />

to become internationally recognised and respected for her works<br />

in glass.<br />

Maker Julie Anderson is an artist belonging to the Pitjantjatjara<br />

language and cultural group and is from the remote community of<br />

Finke, Northern Territory. Julie's works incorporate a wonderful sense<br />

of colour and enjoys the meditative aspects of basket weaving.<br />

Tjanpi Desert Weavers, a signatory to the Indigenous Art Code, is a<br />

dynamic social enterprise of the NPY Women's council. Tjanpi<br />

(meaning 'dry grass') supports Aboriginal women living in remote<br />

Central and Western desert communities to create contemporary<br />

fibre art.<br />

When collecting desert grasses (minarri, wangurnu and yilintji),<br />

women visit sacred sites and traditional homelands, hunt and gather<br />

food for their families, and teach children about country. Grass is<br />

bound with wool, string or raffia and combined with yinirnti (red<br />

seeds of the bat-wing coral tree) and wipiya (emu feathers).<br />

Kiln formed glass cufflinks in collaboration with Brenden Scott<br />

French.<br />

Lisa Cahill's glass installations create a discourse about the<br />

Australian landscape and her affinity with it, often entwined with her<br />

Danish heritage. Inspired by both the natural world and the transitory<br />

nature of the urban experience, Cahill’s dreamlike images invite<br />

viewers to draw associations with their own remembered<br />

landscapes, resulting in a meditative and emotional response.<br />

Rather than a direct reproduction they are more her own<br />

interpretation of light and landscape and become a place for quiet<br />

contemplation.<br />

These dreamtime rainbow serpent bangles utilise polished silver<br />

and coloured kangaroo leather braiding to produce uniquely<br />

Australian statement pieces.<br />

Wayne Simon is a proud indigenous contemporary artist, whose<br />

heritage originates in Biripi country in Mid North Coast New South<br />

Wales. He draws on his love of art, dancing, music and graffiti to<br />

produce outstandingly beautiful jewellery that incorporates pearls,<br />

silver and gold, kangaroo leather, echidna quill and feathers.<br />

company with an international reputation for producing world-class<br />

These bowls are inspired by Japanese origami and, fitting together<br />

as a trio, they appear as a delicate paper sculpture.<br />

This series is the perfect entertaining companion, with the small size<br />

suited to serving dips and nuts, the medium size designed to serve<br />

bread rolls, crisps and biscuits and the large size is ideal for salads<br />

or as a fruit bowl.<br />

General Assembly - Canberra is inspired by the considered plan<br />

and built environment of our capital city. Developed for a special<br />

event at Workshop Bilk, the starting points for the designs are<br />

Marion Mahony Griffin's beautiful drawings of Walter Burley Griffin's<br />

vision for Canberra.<br />

General Assembly exemplifies Porter and Tilden's common ground:<br />

working in multiples, exploring the individual impulse to select,<br />

combine and adorn, alertness to the ubiquitous street styles that<br />

pulse through a city. It is a project that involves people in a lively,<br />

intelligent conversation through the object. That is Studio Hacienda.<br />

Jenni Kemarre Martiniello is a highly respected Arrernte glass<br />

artist from Central Australia who combines the traditional Aboriginal<br />

practice of weaving with the European practice of glass making.<br />

Her work is in many major collections, including the National Gallery<br />

of Australia, the National Museum of Australia, the Canberra<br />

Museum and Gallery, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the<br />

Australian Parliament House Collection, the National Art Glass<br />

Gallery, the Belau<br />

National Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, the Kluge-<br />

Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia, and<br />
