DVS IMPORT REGULATIONSON RESTRICTE DOGS<br />
Restricted dogs guidelines:<br />
1. All licensing authorities and the registered owners are advised to follow the GAHP<br />
Guidelines issued by the Department of Veterinary Services from time to time.<br />
2. Ensure license is only granted to its owners "after the most careful scrutiny". If<br />
deemed necessary, additional measures on restriction could be introduced to<br />
control certain breed of dogs which have been proved to be dangerous.<br />
3. Ensure compulsory registration and identification for all restricted dogs by the<br />
Department of Veterinary Services or any registered Veterinary Surgeon at private<br />
Veterinary Clinic.<br />
4. Ensure compulsory neutering of all restricted dogs by the Department of Veterinary<br />
Services or any registered Veterinary Surgeon at private Veterinary Clinic.<br />
5. When licensed dogs are in transit, the registered owner shall provide safe and<br />
comfortable mobile kennel.<br />
6. The licensed dogs shall and must always be with its registered owner when in any<br />
public places.<br />
7. Ifthe licensed dogs are so required to go out of its premise to certain parks, amenity<br />
areas, public roads or any other public places, it is compulsory and at all times for<br />
registered owner:<br />
a. to put a muzzle on its dogs which is securely fasten and sturdy; and<br />
b. to leash its dogs with a Non-tensile Leash « 1 meter in length).<br />
8. These dogs shall not be used for any illegal fights, gambling, games or hunting.<br />
9. The Local Authority together with the Veterinary Authority may seize and destroy<br />
any restricted dogs (whether licensed or unlicensed) or detain it at a public pound,<br />
if it is found at large in public places, not muzzled or not leashed at all and may post<br />
danger to public.<br />
Kenneling:<br />
(Must provide the dog shelter)<br />
1. Department of Veterinary Services endorsed that satisfactory kenneling is provided<br />
by the owner for restraining the animal<br />
2. Kennel made from sturdy and safe material.<br />
3. Kennel must be roomy, well ventilated at the rear compartment.<br />
4. Must be reliable and well-maintained.<br />
5. Must be design so that cleaning makes easy and with disease prevention in mind.<br />
6. The space comfortable enough for the animal to lie flat with all its limbs extended<br />
out.<br />
7. When standing it is able to extend its neck easily at all possible angles.<br />
8. Animal comfortable from fly bites<br />
9. Shelter from draft, rain and direct-sun<br />
10. Provide a confined yard enjoining the kennel.<br />

I The breeds and its crosses are listed below. These dogs have been known to be<br />
ferocious and must not be allowed into the country. Basically these dogs were bred<br />
I from ancestors known for its killer instinct, hunting ability and bull-baiting. They were<br />
'<br />
developed to be inconspicuous in size but go for the kill (usually the neck region)<br />
veraciously. They were developed and use during the war. <strong>Dog</strong>s that are already in<br />
I the country after the year 1999 should be placed as in Paragraph 2 in this clause. The<br />
I Director General of Department of Veterinary Services may amend the list of banned<br />
dogs as he may see fit to impose.<br />

Clause:<br />
Ifthe said banned dogs have come into the country before the year 2000 individual<br />
owners and the authorities are advised to comply the followings:<br />
aj Register the banned dogs with the nearest Veterinary Authority;<br />
b) Desexed;<br />
c) Fed twice a day;<br />
d) Must provide the dog shelter as in:<br />
(ij Kennel of reliable, safe material;<br />
(ii) Builtnot in the line of the rising or setting sun;<br />
(Hi) Safe from draft and rain;<br />
(iv) Roomy and well-ventilated rear compartment;<br />
(v) Must be design for easy cleaning with disease prevention in mind;<br />
(vi) The space is large enough that the animal can lie down with all its four limbs<br />
stretch comfortably in-front and its neck extended comfortably in all<br />
direction; and<br />
I (vii) Its kennel shall be in a confine compound.<br />
e) Any transfer of ownership must be reported to the nearest DVSauthority.<br />
These dogs shall not be used for any illegal dog fighting, gambling or hunting. The<br />
I authorities are not responsible for any untoward mishap.<br />
