ROCK Praise
By Yosia Yusuf
God is for Impossibilities
“For nothing is impossible with God” – Luke
1:37 NIV
“But Jesus looked at them and said, “With
man this is impossible, but with God all things are
possible.”– Matthew 19:26 ESV
“I can do all things through Him who
strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13 ESV
The phrase ‘nothing is impossible with
God’ is one that most Christian are familiar
with. In fact, we grow up listening to sermons,
testimonies and stories that conveyed this very
message. Every week we are told that we serve
a powerful God to whom the whole universe
centred around. Intellectually, we understand that
if God exists, then nothing is impossible for Him.
The problem arise, however, when our
intellectual belief collide with our situations and
circumstances. What we see with our eyes
and what we hear with our ears tell us that it is
impossible. We have reached a dead end and
there is nothing anyone can do to change it. It is
easy to believe that nothing is impossible with God
when we live in the realm of possibilities. But the
moment our life enter the area of impossibilities,
our intellectual faith seems to fail us.
Mary questions God’s declaration of virgin
birth. Jesus’ disciples wonder if it’s possible for
one to be saved. Christians read Paul’s letters
and amazed at how he managed to survive many
trials and tribulations that comes his way. The
question that arises in our heart is “is it possible
for us to experience what they experience with
God?”
The answer is YES and YES. It is God desire
for us to live a life of impossibility with Him. To live
in the realm of possibilities is to believe that God
is not God. Because God is God, more often than
not, He will require us to walk by faith. Faith is
not the absence of intellectual belief, but it is the
completion of it. To walk by faith simply means
choosing to trust God based on who He said He
is, rather than what our situation makes of Him.
Faith is not, not thinking. Faith is thinking and
reasoning to our best capabilities and come to
conclusion that God must be real. And if God
is real, then what He said must be true! When
He said nothing is impossible, then it doesn’t
matter what our situation tells us. God is for
impossibilities.
