of <strong>the</strong> <strong>TopLegal</strong> Awards<br />
Italy’s fifth annual <strong>legal</strong> and business Awards crowned Gianni Origoni<br />
Grippo & Partners <strong>the</strong> 2011 Firm of <strong>the</strong> Year. Francesco Gatti<br />
of d’Urso Gatti e Bianchi was voted Lawyer of <strong>the</strong> Year.<br />
<strong>TopLegal</strong> welcomed a record 750 guests on Monday 21 November to<br />
celebrate <strong>the</strong> fifth anniversary of this prestigious event at <strong>the</strong> East End<br />
Studios in Milan.<br />
The evening also saw a number of teams in corporate <strong>legal</strong> departments<br />
from seven different business sectors win recognition. In all, 53<br />
prizes were awarded on <strong>the</strong> night. The votes were cast by a jury of 27<br />
Italian business leaders working in conjunction with <strong>TopLegal</strong>’s team of<br />
journalists and researchers.<br />
The top firm award went to Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners for<br />
its winning strategy during <strong>the</strong> course of <strong>the</strong> year. Gianni Origoni also<br />
finished on top in three fur<strong>the</strong>r team categories: public law, energy and<br />
real estate.<br />
Francesco Gatti, co-founder of <strong>the</strong> corporate boutique d’Urso Gatti<br />
e Bianchi, scooped <strong>the</strong> award for Best Lawyer of <strong>the</strong> Year and also won<br />
an individual prize for corporate governance.<br />
Clifford Chance’s Charles Adams was named Managing Partner of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Year thanks to his efforts in re-focusing <strong>the</strong> team during a challenging<br />
year for international firms.<br />
The country’s Female Lawyer of <strong>the</strong> Year, a category introduced for<br />
<strong>the</strong> first time, went to Roberta Crivellaro from Wi<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />
Among <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r categories, four law firms won team prizes for <strong>the</strong><br />
second year in succession: Linklaters (banking & finance), Cleary Gottlieb<br />
